Using IFM

So you got IFM up and runing, good for you! Now you may or may not have noticed the UI is quite different than SFMs.
So lets go over how to do things in IFM!

Introduction
If you dont have the IFM or have no idea what the IFM is:

So you have IFM and you want to use it? Heres some tips to get you started! This guide might expand in the future.
Using the Manipulator
In IFM you only have the muti tool.














To use the rotation tool put the cursor inside the orange circle and hold SHIFT
Holding CTRL will toggle between local and world rotation.













To use the translation tool put the cursor on the yellow square and hold SHIFT
Holding CTRL will toggle between local and world translation.
Motion and Graph Editor
The buttons to enable your Motion Editor, and Graph editor are at the top RIght of the Animation Set Editor window. Youll need to open the Motion Editor and select your clip in green since it isent by default in sfm to begin making keys.

The buttons are, from left to right:
None
Nothing gets updated or recorded.

Pass-through
Transforms are updated but nothing gets passed thru to the logs. Used for temporary posing to set presets. After pass-through is unset, all the changes disappear.

Motion Editor
Enable changes in your clip.

Play
Enable animation in your scene. (Useful for placing lights without modeling animating and causing lag while still being able to edit.)

Graph Editing
Basically another form of record mode. Instead of using the manipulator to change motion data, you can edit the motion data curves.

I-beam
Binds the time selection to the playhead so moving the playhead moves the time selection with it.
Helpful Tips
If you want to mount SFM assets and folders open IFMs Gameinfo.txt and under Searchpaths mount your mods below tf_movies but above hl2.WARNING, some assets may cause IFM to crash unexpectedly this is rare but it does happen dont forget to save.

If a button is missing try right clicking on the part of the UI your expecting to find it in youd be surprised whats hiding in there.

To open an SFM dmx in IFM open the dmx in a text editor and change the dmx version number to 19 on the first line. Then save the file and open it in IFM. To open an IFM dmx in SFM, just open it. No modification is required.

If your camera is in the middle of nowhere, Switch to game mode and record a short clip of gameplay this will give you a camera1 at the players position switch to camera1 then use CTRL+LMB to teleport the work camera to the player positon, you can then safely delete your clip.

If your maps missing things right click on the viewport and go to Draw Game Entities In Tool > Draw Other Entities.

If your loaded model is crumpled into a heap SELECT the model, Then CTRL+SELECT the rootTransform of the model to deselect it, Then with the Motion editor enabled slide the Default Preset

If your portals arent rendering properly (eg dissapearing if you look at them a certain way. Convert the portal to an AnimationSet then in the Animation Set editor move the "grid" bone behind the portal. (TODO: Repace this texture with a working version)

If you want to know more hotkeys go to Edit>Keyboard, from there you can see all of IFMs keybinds and edit them to your liking.

Keep in mind since this is an older build of sfm some tools might genuinely be missing,

Whenever I open a recent project, animation set editor just doesn't show the list of animation sets and doesn't react when I click RMB on it. Creating a new project helps, but when I return to the previous project, the problem returns as well. Is there any way to fix this?

Another Issue: The Portal gun view-model is displayed at a different FOV than in-game after recording first person gameplay.

Issue: Segments of Lasers after having gone through a portal are not rendered.

Update: going fullscreen in the engine viewport gets rid of it! A little awkward, but better than nothing.

I'm sorry for asking a question on such and old thread, but does anyone know how to get this weird overlay out of my camera view? It almost looks like some part of the map is stuck on there.
