Introduction

You were thrown into a brand new world on a brand new server with brand new enemies and strangers. Great! You and your friend have successfully found yourselves a server that you can (hopefully) dedicate yourselves to. In this guide, I'll cover everything. I'll answer questions like...

1. Where is my friend?
2. Where am I?
3. What do I do? WHAT DO I DO?

Relax. Read the guide, created by myself and a friend. Also assisted by shutterstock photos for the best in depth tutorial available. Please add to your favorites, and give us a thumbs up. Happy hunting.
Finding Your Friend (The Teleport)
Immediately do whatever you need to do to arm yourself with literally anything other than that stupid useless rock in your inventory.

Did it? Good.

Either you (or your friend) need to gather 60 cloth (or 30 for one.) Get that from hemp plants growing out of the ground. Looks like this.

Craft your sleeping bags, and plop one on the gorund in a relatively safe spot. Hold "E" on it, and select "give to friend." Find their name, and add them to it. Now your friend needs to kill themselves, and after a certain amount of time, they can spawn in that sleeping bag. Put yours down too, if you wanna be extra safe. Ensure you guys are armed, with a bow or spear, cover each other, and go look for a nice place to build a base.

Home

It's hot, you're sweating, you and your friend are arguing about what to build and where to build it....When suddenly, you see it. Both of you stop in awe, looking at each other to make sure you both see it.

It's perfect. A nice, easily defendable piece of land with abundant resources. Animals graze the fields, rock nodes appear out of thin air, the sounds of gunfire are a thing of your soon to be naked past. The stress is gone, and you enter a whole new world.

1. Find a piece of land with abundant resources (wood, animals, stones, metal, sulfur)
2. Both agree on it
- repeat step 1 if need be
3. Collect resources
4. Upgrade your tools
5. Collect more resources
6. Start building
New Home, Who Dis?
THIS bad boy is the key to your prosperity in your newly acquired territory. It's a building plan. You'll need two.

Let the better builder start with the bass, the lesser builder can help with upgrading walls and floors etc. and morale support. Try saying things like, "Wow! Nice foundation. I cannot wait for us to live a safe and happy life on top of that." Or, "It looks great! I really really really hope it doesn't come tumbling down and we get savagely murdered while we're not even playing the game! I'd hate to lose all of our hard earned resources and have our countless hours on this fairly populated server go to waste."

The better builder will know what to do. I'm not gonna plug any specific blueprint for your new home, do what you usually do, or go watch a YouTube video for an efficient duo base design.

The Hammer

This allows you to upgrade your flimsy twig walls and floors into sheet metal powerhouses. You only need one, but two woudln't help for the both of you.

Upgrade your building as soon as possible with whatever you have on hand. Put some sleeping bags down on the highest floor, put your doors down (metal if available,) locks (you want to get rid of these ASAP, they suck,) replace the locks with keypads eventually, and make your cargo crates and your furnaces and all the good stuff. Make sure you have a tool cupboard that is well hidden too. Don't let it stick out of the wall, wall it off, etc.

Tool Cupboard

Establish Your Clan (optional, just looks cool)

Traveling in General, Combat
THE RULES OF THE ROAD

1. Travel together
2. Travel with a purpose
- resources
- raiding
- stalking
- moving bases
3. Always have a weapon ready
4. Know where each other are and where you are going
5. Engage when necessary
6. Move quick
7. Guerilla warfare
8. Callouts are everything
- what the enemy is wearing, using as a weapon, where they're heading, if you hit them, etc.
9. Pay attention to clan tags
- helps you to remember how geared the clan is, how many members, and they'll probably come back for you
10. When your gear is low tier, stay away from guys like this

COMBAT

The moment you've both been waiting for (nervously anticipating.) PVP!

PVP has finally reared its ugly head. Whether it's an attempted raid, an encounter on a supply run, or you're hunting a naked, here are some tips to keep you alive and your opponent dead.

1. Aim high, stay low
2. Your partner's health is just as important as yours
3. Push together
4. Revive each other
5. Watch each other's backs
6. Watch your flanks, aim for the same targets
7. Keep your weapon ready always
8. Jump around and zig zag a lot
9. Use cover
10. Don't expose your base
So You Got Raided

Don't give up, buddy. Follow the guide again. Rebuild your old base, or make a new one.

Route A

Abandon everything! You and your pal have proven you SUCK at combat, and you didn't follow the guide.

Re read it, and do better this time.

Route B

The counter raid. Gather your supplies, gather your friend, and set out for the attack. Use whatever they didn't take, or make more guns and other useful items, and go attack them to reclaim your things and acquire some new ones.

Route C

Remove your friend, delete Rust, and request a refund. Go live your life, throw your computer away.

Your Stomach and Its Contents

Your stomach grumbles as you uncomfortably sit on the cold, hard floor of your half assed base. Your partner and you are both looking at each other, probably thinking of eating the other. Here are some options to solve your hunger problem.

Option 1: Hunting

Grab your spears, lock your doors, and gear up. You're going hunting. If you built in an area where animals frequently run around, there's an abundance of options. Deer, chickens, hogs, wolves, bears, and of course other players. And horses.

Option 2: Friend Farming
This takes some time, but it's easy and guarantees food. When all is calm; no footsteps, no nakeds or clans or bears running around, go ahead and have you and your friend taking turns murdering each other, and then harvest the bodies with a bone shive. There is the solution to starvation. Just make sure you both have your bags down in the base.
