gm_rapturemodel

Descripción
gm_rapturemodel is my attempt at creating a scale 3D model of the city of Rapture, with all locations from BioShock 1 and 2. The scale is roughly about 1m to 1 in-game unit, or 1 meter to 3/4 of an inch. I used in-game references, drawing out detailed maps of each of the level, and then using those maps as references for making brush-based models within source. I also used in-game maps, such as the Austen Bathysphere Co. Map and the Atlantic Express map. All major locations from the games are labelled.

Some caveats that prevent this from being more accurate: First off, I had to remove some detailing. Originally I had train tracks laid out from station to station, but this proved to be too intensive for the source engine. I also had more skyscrapers, but once again I had to cut a few out to make the engine render the whole of the city properly. You'll notice some buildings that aren't labelled at all; in these cases these were skyscrapers I added to "fill in the blanks" for some of the unmarked bathysphere stations and train stations. Finally, I ended up squeezing some locations closer together to make the city look more dense and compact. Compromises were definitely made in detail vs. accuracy, but I think this is as close to a realistic portrayal of Rapture's size that you can get, especially baring in mind that this entire city-state was made in secret.

The results are interesting. The city ends up being about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of Midtown, Manhattan. Assuming a similar population density, we're looking at a population of roughly 300,000 people, about the population of St.Louis or Pittsburgh. Certainly no rival to New York, but sizable enough to be a true labyrinth. Also relatively realistic, since most invitations to the city were given only to elites and friends of elites. I didn't include any Burial At Sea locations, mostly because BioShock Infinite makes a bit of a mess in regards to the canon.

Let me know what you think!

The amount of detail in the model i can see how they looked in bioshock and you're down to a tee, this is amazing seriously

holy (censored) nice work (also if the original BioShock™ has swear words i can mod the game with replacing the swear words with censored and remove the gore and drugs (and sexual content for people under 17)

I have no clue what context you mean for this Jaxson. It's a scale model.
