The Ekara SA-30 Fighter (Ee-Kahr-Ah) is the newest and most powerful fighter from Rangatira Industries. Ekara is Maori for eagle. A suitable name for a bird of prey such as this. Being capable of functioning both in atmosphere and space it stands as a formidable opponent in any environment. While the fighter only seats one, it gives that pilot the power and confidence of a whole team. It can be carried by the Rangatira MSV-4, or can serve solo recon roles on planets. The potential of The Ekara SA-30 is vast. Additionally, modifying the yellow highlights to other colors is simple. Pilots can enjoy the option of distinguishing themselves from the rest of the squad. Or you can paint the white a darker grey for stealthier combat. It should be noted, as a heavy fighter, this is not a nimble craft. It was designed primarily for taking out pirate bases in fast bombing runs. The merge block on the underside allows you to attach a variety of guns and bombs of your choosing. The turrets should assist pilots in keeping quicker smaller ships at bay.

Warnings:

If when you fire a rocket and get a message "rocket number 6 is not working" dont worry. Its fine. Its a result of the scripts which override the rockets. The game mistakenly reads this as the rockets not working.

It should be noted, this is a heavy fighter at 230,000kg. It is its most maneuverable in space. Functioning in both atmosphere and space requires that it carry many heavy useless ion engines in atmosphere, and when in space, it must carry many heavy useless atmospheric engines. So this ship will NOT be as nimble as a ship that is 100% atmospheric, or 100% Ion. I will be making versions soon that are 100% of each. When you fly this ship in atmosphere, fly it like a plane, not a space ship. By that I mean, understand that when you are upside down you will not have lift. When you pull up, you will lose speed. When you fly on your side, you will have less lift and will lose altitude. For it to reach space its weight had to be kept as low as possible. That means all light armor and fewer Gyros.

Stopping distance is long, it is advised that you turn the ship around to slow down quickly. It atmosphere tilt the ship upwards to slow down quickly.

The rear large ion thrusters are very powerful. It is advised that you disable them when in a hangar.

The gatling turrets have a tendency to hit the ship while firing. Try to avoid over use

How do I reach space?:
It can reach space. Ive tested it several times. However, unlike a hydrogen based ship, you need to pilot it correctly. Because space engineers has a maximum speed any horizontal speed will reduce the maximum vertical speed. So if you are moving 20m/s forward when you start to go up the highest speed you can rise is at 80m/s. The way to reach space is to ensure you ONLY have vertical speed. Do a standard helicopter take off. Rise with the plane parallel to the horizon. When you reach about 4500m you will notice that speed will begin to drop from 100m/s to like 90m/s. This means you need the help of the ion engines. Rotate the tip of the ship up so its just about 45 degrees and continue to trust up. This way the ion engines and the atmospheric engines work together. If you notice that you are moving horizontally as well, angle further up to reduce horizontal speed. There is no "lift" in space engineer. Horizontal speed is useless to you. Continue this but as you fly higher get slightly more vertical until by the time you're in space (at around 60% gravity) the ship is pointed completely away from the planet and you're only using the rear ion trusters. IF you are still at 100m/s by the time you're around 12,000m then you're good to go!

i did a fighter test and your fighter was tested, i had difficulty turning left to right but in the end it only was a annoyance,it did a decent job on the strafing run, tore apart the back engines in seconds, opened the main command deck with concentrated shooting to the windows but did little to no damage on the ram test, i also found it difficult to aim with the guns lower on the ship but did not prove to be a problem in the long run. overall it is a 7.5/10 it was a good design but i found it hard to use, keep in mind this is from going in blind on said ship, if i did read the description it would probably be a 10/10 keep up the good work

ah, neat. Really love the overall look of the designs, it'd be neat if you made some stuff using the new block, especially with the combat update.

@Captain Redbeard, In my head cannon, in the future there is a class of people who are trillionares from their exploitation of space's resources. As they traverse the vastness of space, they certainly wont be doing so in the confines of an uncomfortable military vessel. But they also wouldn't want to be defenseless to pirates or even rival capitalists in a completely defenseless pleasure yacht. So these ships merge both worlds with military grade offensive and defensive tech, coupled with luxurious comfort. Most of the these ships would be the equivalent of crew vessels and tenders, meant to keep the main VIP safe.
