Introduction
This guide displays some fast and easy methods of aquiring high level equipment by abusing some game mechanics and glitches. The guide is divided into 4 sections: the basic information about the farming, that explain every mechanic and every glitch used to get the items; the Adell mode farm, that shows how to farm equiments (not so strong) on adell mode; the Axel mode farm, that shows how to farm equipments (up to rank 39) on axel mode, and some extra tips to improve your farming experience.
Basic information
This section contains all the secrets behind the farming, remember that these are the methods i actually use, and there may be other better methods to farm equipments.

1. How to even find strong equipment early?
- By looking at the bonus table of dark world levels. Dark world levels have generally a very high bonus level (up to 65!!!), and we will be exploiting some specific levels (Adell mode 3-3 and Axel mode 1-4) to farm some equips.

2. Dark world, what is that?
- Dark world is like a hard mode of a level. Every story mode level (but the last one) have a dark world counterpart. It is unlocked by finding 5 hidden switches in holt village.

3. Where are these switches?
- They are found at:
1 - Behind pillars behind the Postman and dark Assembly NPC;
2 - Corner behind Adell's house;
3 - Behind the house close to Zommie NPC;
4 - Crumbled wall close to the Mario Boy NPC;
5 - Lower right corner of the map (near a treasure on chapter 1~2).
Now, just talk some times with Friday MK II so you can challenge her.

4. But she is level 100!! You said it was easy to farm. How can i beat her?
- You are now going to make use of the second most OP character in the game: the thief. Make sure you have like at least 2 thieves and at least 6 characters total for this battle.
The thief starts with the spell "health", that poisons the enemy for 20% of its life per turn for 3 turns and has a 100% success rate (!!!) for non immune characters. With this, simply lure Friday MK II close to your base panel, send thief 1 to poison, and when poison runs out, send thief 2 to poison again. You will lose some units on the process, but it's always an easy win.

5. Ok, I beat Friday MK II. Now how do I access the dark world?
- To access the dark world, you need to talk to Friday MK II (next to the gate keeper). But first you need to unlock a level on the dark world. To do so, you need to reach a specific goal on a level to unlock its dark world counterpart. For a more detailed way to unlock each dark world level use this other guide: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=853511911

6. Great! So I just go through dark world levels killing everything with my thief army and get the items, right?
- Patience young padawan, we still need to do some other stuff first. For example, we need a way to increase our bonus gauge, since the best items don't usually appear on the first position.

7. How do I do that?
- To do that we will abuse other cool mechanics, that are: using combos, and beast tamers. Combos are achieved by having multiple characters attacking a single target, and by doing so, the bonus gauge increases rapidly. And beast tamers have an ability that makes the bonus gauge increase twice as fast.

8. Ok, but i can't seem to find beast tamers on my characters list. How do i get them?
- To unlock beast tamers you need to capture a monster. To do so, throw a monster into the base panel (he will battle with your characters on the base panel and if you win, you capture him). I suggest doing this with a weak opponent (1-1). Then pass the "Make a trainer" bill. Now create 9 beast tamers and equip them with bows.

9. So, can i get the items now?
- You actually can, but just some of it. To get all of it you still need "Conciousness" (thief level 10 spell) and the "no entry" glitch. But you can definitely farm Adell mode 3-3 right now.

10. The what glitch?!? Well, I'm going to farm right now!! Write about this glitch down here and i may come back for it later.
- The "no entry" glitch is a glitch that lets you throw characters over "no entry" panels. And is extremely important to farm Axel mode 1-4.
The glitch is actually pretty simple to execute. Simply lift a character and aim for a panel right after the "no entry" panel. Now lower the throw distance by 1 and press the throw button really fast and the unit should be thrown to the panel after the "no entry" panel.

11. So, now I can farm the best equipments in the game?
- Oh, you are still here... Well, kinda. They are not the best equips in the game (rank 39), but are the best you can get outside of the item world. But yes, you can farm them.
Adell mode farming
In this section I will show an effective way to farm dark world level 3-3 (bonus level 40) from Adell mode.

First things first. To unlock dark world level 3-3 you need to create a 5-man tower anywhere on the normal map.

The level is pretty straight forward. A very strong and very mobile zombie and a dark sun that keeps on poisoning your units every other turn.

Minimum requirements:
- 1 Thief
- 7~9 Beast Tamers with bows
- 1 ranged unit that can kill your thief

Strategy:
1st turn (dark sun activates):
- Throw an unit close to the zombie and throw the zombie closer to the base panel.
- Send out a thief and use health on the zombie.
- Send other units out and throw the zombie on the island on the corner of the level. The zombie should be thrown on the panel closest to the main island.
- Don't send out your beast tamers so they don't get poisoned.

2nd turn:
- Send out all of your beast tamers (only 6 will be able to attack and avoid being attacked)
- Set up the other 3 so they get in their positions on the next turn.
- Combo the zombie. (should get 2 levels of bonus gauge)

3rd turn
- Set up the last 3 beast tamers and attack with everyone (should get bonus gauge to level 6).

This is the safest position to attack with 9 Beast Tamers.

4th turn
- Attack with everyone again and start to move back to the base panel (bonus gauge should be at 9)

5th turn
- Throw your thief at the island and use health on the zombie again.
- KILL the thief on with a ranged attack. If the zombie kills the thief with a normal attack it will regenerate and not die with the second poison.

6th turn
- Move out the units you want to level up (if there is a +xp reward).
- Stage Clear.

With this method you can easily and safely reach level 50+ very fast with all your characters.

On this level you can get items up to rank 30. Here is an example of the Bonus List for this level:

Axel mode farming
This section displays a method to farm Axel mode Dark world 1-4, that is by far the best place to farm items before you start going crazy on the item world. There are other 2 levels on Axel mode Dark World (and 1 on Adell mode) that have a 65 bonus level, but none are as easy to farm as this one.

To unlock this Dark World level simply combine every enemy (5) into one on the normal map.

The map also pretty straightforward. 2 Flambergs and 1 Slust all of which are probably way out of your league. Plus, you are limited by some "no entry" panels and all the tiles within it have the "disperse damage" and "no ranged attacks" effects, so, 1 hit on any of your characters equals game over, and you can't use your bows (a close combat attack will cause counter and insta death for your beast tamers). Also, the dark sun destroys your base panel at the end of the first round, so you must move all of your characters out at the start.

Minimum requirements:
1 Thief level 10+
8 Beast Tamers with bows
1 other unit (to throw the beast tamers)

Strategy:

1st turn:
- Throw some Beast Tamers to the stage, so they can throw the Flambergs into the Slust.
- Send out the Thief and use "Consciousness" on the slust.
- Send out all other units you need.

2nd turn:
- Make the "other unit" lift every one of the Beast Tamers and use the "no entry" glitch to throw them out of the "no ranged attack zone" and dequeue all the units outside.
- Poison the Slust

3rd turn:
- Use the "other unit" to throw the slust closer to where the base panel was.
- Attack the Slust with all Beast Tamers (bonus gauge at 3)
- Use "Consciousness" on the Slust

4th turn:
- Attack the Slust with all Beast Tamers (bonus gauge at 6)
- Use "Consciousness" on the Slust

5th turn:
- Poison the Slust
- DON'T ATTACK THIS TURN

6th turn:
- Attack the Slust with all Beast Tamers (bonus gauge at max)
- Use "Consciousness" on the Slust
- Win.

With this strategy you can get all rank 39 items in legendary rarity.

Extra Tips
This section summarizes some tips to make it easier and faster to farm these levels.

- Have +3 mv on all farming characters. (3 slippers)
- Use bows and not guns. Guns are harder to manage positions.
- Take your time setting up the positions. A silly mistake can cost a Legendary item.
- Don't forget to remove the weapons from Axel before you finish the last battle of Axel mode, or you won't be able to use his equips on Adell mode storyline characters. (Same for other Axel mode only characters)
- Kunoichis can make the farm even faster (save 1 turn).
- Avoid the poison effect from the dark sun on 3-3.
- Turn off battle effects, set system effect to fast and set combat and message speed to blitz to farm even faster.
- Enjoy the farming
Final considerations

@wmklaus You could, but the panels you could do it on for this method to work effectively and efficiently are limited to pretty much one to each cardinal direction of the Ifrit and you wouldn't want to waste one of your two thieves' actions to boost it a little when equipping the beast tamers with bows would boost it faster and more efficiently. Having done this method, you would likely spend way more time fussing around with the spears instead of just shooting with the bows.

Actually now that I think about it, you mentioned melee weapons aren't a good idea cause of counters. Thats true for nearly all of them save one, the spear, it can hit two spaces away so you can do that in combo with bows and guns and it should work like you've explained in this guide as well as what was shown in the videos.

Ah ok, they must've changed the beast tamer's ability or something cause it used to be (for the PS2 at least) they buff allied monsters' stats that are adjacent to the tamer. Never played the PSP version so thats probably why it's different to me, only ever played the PS2 version.

@wmklaus, Beast tamers have a special ability that makes the bonus gauge fill twice as fast as other units. You can use any other unit that can equip guns or bows (using melee attacks will probably get you killed to counters), but it will be way slower to fill the gauge. Since it is so easy to unlock the beast tamers, I think they are very useful to this strategy.

I know this guide is old (and I'll probably use these methods cause Item World grinding is slow especially if there aren't any 100% exp geo panels on the floor), I've got a question. Does it HAVE to be beast tamers with bows to do this, or can you use other humanoid units to do this?

Its a simple glitch, just aim where i do at the video and press (almost simultaneously) the button to reduce the range by 1 (right or down on the dpad depending on your config) and the button to throw (the throw button should be pressed just frames after the range reduction button)
