Having trouble updating your mod? This guide describes the solution to one very common problem with updating Software Inc mods

Step 1 - Cause of trouble
Once your mod is uploaded, a pubID file will be created. This can be found in your mod folder in your Software Inc installation, where you put your mod.

This file is very important to keep if you want to upload updates for example. A common mistake is that you accidentally remove this file when you paste your updated mod into the software inc mod folder. Without this file, the game can't recognize that this is an already uploaded mod and will therefore force you to make a completely new and separate workshop page.

Step 2 - How do I know if my pubID file is missing?
If you have uploaded a mod to the workshop, but can't update it properly, a missing pubID.txt file is the most likely cause. Your mod folder will probably look like this:

Step 3 - The solution

Solution is simple and straight-forward. You simply make a new pubID file. First, go to your mod's folder. Then, create a new text-document (.txt file)

Name it: pubID

After this is done, go to the workshop page of your mod. Mark and copy the id of the workshop item. Now simply paste this ID into the pubID.txt file you created.

If you have followed the above steps correctly, you should finally be able to update your mod:

While this doesn't fix the issues with Alpha 9 it does at least help modders update their mods properly without having to upload to a new workshop page

Fantastic stuff! A lot of decent mods suddenly stopped getting updated a while ago, hopefully this will bring some people back to modding for Alpha9. :)
