Starting out
This game is fun and just takes a little bit of time to start growing as a band.

Special Thanks to Aloha Snackbar for some more GREAT TIPS!!!

1. Use a $500 budget and start looking for band members. Try to get members that have the Appealing trait. Avoid Substance Abuse and Klepto, as they may seem humorous at first, but will cost you a lot of money in the long run. As of right now, the band members may be unskilled, but they also aparently have low motivation, so they don't ask for raises, so having a Rock God that only wants $200 a month for a salary is actually a good thing :) Once you have your band filled out, have all band members participate in writing 3-5 songs, they will be crap, but all band members will gain writing experience, and you will have enough songs to start gigging.

2. Book EVERY gig day possible to start out with. This will gain you fans and a wee bit of spending cash. While waiting for your next gig, alternate between Busking and Refine Skills. (Left Click one band member, then RIGHT CLICK the task that you want to complete to get all band members not currently working on something to do this! *Aloha Snackbar*) This will bring you in a little more cash, and also skill up your bands Writing Skills as well as Instrument Ability.

3. The first vehicle that you will want to buy is the Used Car, I think it is only $3,500. This will allow you to travel between towns. I imagine it as an AMC Gremlin, worked for Wayne's World, eh? LOL

4. Long road trips will get your band members pissed off at each other, let them relax by Busking and Refining skills to lower the tension.

5. Try to play the bigger clubs as soon as you can as the money is better at each location due to their being more seating capacity and higher ticket costs.

6. Some of the higher clubs only have 2 performance nights, use the big gap to write a few more songs so that you can switch it up and keep your audience from getting bored from you doing the same songs over and over again.

7. After a while, your gigs will pay you enough money that you won't have to use the Busking option for making cash (still a good way to make the band members happy after a long road trip though). Now, in between gigs, you can spend most of your time using Refine Skill, and Write Song.

8. Once you have a comfortable amount of cash, try to find a city that has a recording studio or a video studio. In order to make an album you will need to have your songs recorded along with a music video. Use the recording studio to rehearse 3 songs at a time so that you get at least mildly profient at them. Once you are 50% or better, record those songs. Once the songs are recorded, find a city witth a video studio, and get some music videos. AFTER this is done, and you have 5-6 songs recorded with videos, then approach a record label. They will usually give you about 2 weeks to perform at 1-3 locations, which will satisfy the requirements as you have already completed the record and video requirements.

9. Once you have a good cashflow going, you have 12 spots on your stage to fill up with Speakers and Amps. Go to the Rock Store and grab yourself some gear to rock the hell out of your audience! (I use 6 speakers in the back row, and 4 amps in the front row, once you have the cash, if you use the best gear you will get 100% Stage Vigor with this setup)

10. -deleted- that awesome RIGHT CLICK task tip :)

11. To sell a song that you wrote, go to Band Management, then click Band Management, then click Choose Songs under Gig Playlist. Hold down Control and click Left Mouse Button on the SELL button to complete the sale.

12. IF YOU SELL A SONG THAT YOU PUT ON AN ALBUM, YOU LOSE CREDIT FOR RELEASING THAT ALBUM! This includes selling any song that you wrote in one of the random popups where a record company asks to buy one of your songs. (I learned this one the hard way LOL)

I hope that this guide was a little helpful for people just starting out the game :)

GREAT TIP thanks Aloha :)

I personally spam write songs and perform them without rehearsing until my character got a writing rating of 100, then start rehearsing to 100% and recording them. You do make a ton of money off of record deals, but at the beginning you can sing songs like Yoko Ono and it doesn't matter as your fans aren't actually that picky, and the record deal's actual contract is pretty poor :)

OH, a really helpful tip, if you right-click on an option, all band-members will perform it, IE If you right-click busking, all available band-members will busk, they'll also automatically be added to writing a song.

Example: I'm at $500 rent a month in the parent's garage, 1650 fans, haven't bought a car yet. If I busk and/or write songs and sell them, I can improve band-member's stats while covering costs. When I buy I car now, I can hit dover right away, get a record deal immediately. I'd already have 2-3 star songs I can rehearse then record 'n film. That first record deal will net you a fair bit of cash.

You DO want to move quickly, as the rent at your first house increases ( want to say $50) every month. That said, if you spend time before the rent gets too high writing songs and gathering fans, if you can get access to Dover before rent gets too high, record deals can guarantee a solid cash flow (especially if you don't ask for any upfront cash and busk to pay for recording).

With a few solid LP records, you can get WAY more cash than you ever could running gigs even consistently. Even at 10$ a record, you can safely cover expenses while you improve your band's stats, running a few gigs to help boost the fan-base.

Thanks for your comments :) 1. ... that is weird, I find that Busking and Refining makes everyone relax, makes their group stress drop like a rock ... weird 2. Speakers and Amps are great for getting the room rocking, that is for sure! 3. Car vs. Rent is, to me, an easy choice, as the developers have said that the best way to make money is to move to the newest location as soon as possible to make the most money

Also, busking 'n refining skills actually INCREASES stress, not reduces, only ways to really effectively reduce tension in the band is at the end of each day and during certain events.
