A true start location map places a civ in its historical location. So The Aztecs will start in Central America, Arabia on the Arabian peninsula and so on. On this map city states are constant.

As such this guide will present strategies for each civ. (More coming soon).

Generally though, New World civs can make a play for a religious victory as it has the only religious city state in the game, La Venta. Civs in the Ancient World can try a domination or cultural win as they are not isolated by ocean.

Arabia will found its capital, Cairo historically where Egypt spawns. (So don't play against Egypt).

The Last Prophet will allow you to focus on building an army of heavy cavalry (Mamluks) and science initially to wage war early game. Once other religions have duked it out you may target weaker religions for a late game religious victory. Or perhaps use Arabia's bias towards science and culture to pursue a science victory. If you do be sure to have 2-3 cities focued on production for spaceports.

Build Petra.

Move your settler N to settle Canberra on the coast near The Great Barrier Reef for food and science. Don't worry about the lack of access to fresh water as Australia gets bonus housing on coasts.

As you settle the coast to start, build a navy and engage your nearest civs asap. Don't worry about early warmongering cos it will prompt the AI to declare war on you later giving you 100% production bonus.

Build Petra and Outback Stations.

Try to secure as many luxuries as possible to provide amenities for your fast growing empire.
Science victory FTW.

If you are lucky, America and/or Brazil will spawn in the New World. Move your settler N to settle Tenochtitlan on the coast. You will need naval support to conquer/subdue them.

With The Aztec bonus to go wide allow yourself to spread across the globe acquiring as many luxuries and copies of luxuries as possible. Remember to prioratise Commercial Hubs for Great Merchant points to obtain the special luxuries Toys, Perfume, Cosmetics & Jeans.

Brazil starts in South America. Move your settler a few tiles NW to settle the lake near the Pantanal for bonus culture.

As of the Australian Summer 2017 Patch no other civ will spawn in South America, allowing you to freely settle the continent. Try a classical or later start so that you may quickly locate and engage other civs as early as possible.

Build a fleet of quadririmes/frigates and beeline Nationalism to upgrade them to Brazil's unique battleship. Take out equatorial civs and colonists. Africa. India. South East Asia.

Classical or Medieval start. Move your settler 1 tile east to settle London on the Bristol Channel. Prioritize Royal Navy Dockyards as naval units constructed there will have +1 movement.

Try to capture/settle the Iberian peninsula for access to the Mediterranean. Strategically also Suez & Panama, canal cities to navigate your navy around the world!

Culture or Domination victory FTW.

India starts near Everest, which would give you a leg up for religion. Missionaries can glide over hills allowing you to easily convert East Asia.

Play against Europeans for the biggest advantage. Be sure to explore the world asap to maximise your faith bonus from Dharma.

Play against other civs that start on the coast like England, Russia, Egypt & Norway. Even Australia.

As you begin on an island build a navy and engage your nearest civs asap. Settling or conquering Suez canal for control of the Mediterranean maybe necessary to take out Europeans. Panama, another canal city will allow you to mobilize your navy as need be. Try to found a religion.

Domination or Religious victory WTF.

Settle Pella east for access to fresh water (providing you don't play against Rome). Play Macedon against other Europeans for the earliest of domination victories. Two early game units mean Alexander can focus on military and take out other Europeans in no time.

Spain is best played against other Europeans.

Conquer/settle Africa, Asia, the Americas, South East Asia and Australia. Suez and Panama are strategic canal cities that will allow
Madrid to trade with your colonies spread far and wide. Build a navy. With Mercantilism you will be able to form fleets and armadas from your most experienced units allowing you to further your global conquests.
