Note: This mod currently does not support Repentance. It will take some time for me to get a better feel for the new balance in Repentance and decide what (if any) tweaks to implement.

Afterbirth+ Information:

This is a modest balance tweak for existing rooms, designed to make Angel Rooms a viable alternative to Devil Rooms, and to make the Dark Room a tempting option when compared to the Chest.

In my experience playing the Binding of Isaac, I find that I almost always go for Devil Rooms and the Chest whenever possible. With this mod, I hope to make the alternatives equally viable, for greater variety.

Major Tweaks:

Angel Rooms are now guarenteed to contain at least one item, and some variants contain other resources as well. This is balanced against Devil Rooms, which have more chance to have 2-3 items (at a cost) or none. This way, Angel Rooms are the safer, more reliable option compared to high-variance Devil Rooms.

The Dark Room now contains 4 stone chests in addition to the previous 4 red chests. The stone chests are guarenteed items, equivalent to the 4 golden chests found in the Chest. The red chests can then be considered a bonus incentive for taking on the more difficult Dark Room path.

Smaller Tweaks:

A few Curse Room variants have received small buffs, so they're less likely to be a waste of health. A good payout is still not guarenteed however.

A few Secret and Super Secret Rooms have had small buffs, to make it more worthwhile to search for them. As a result of this change, items like Blue Map and Spelunker Hat would consequently be a little bit more valuable as well.

Crawl Spaces are rare and hard to find, and yet they often have a disappointing payout. Now Crawl Spaces are a bit more likely to contain something useful. Black Markets are unchanged.

Challenge Rooms that previously contained only a grey chest now contain a little extra, to make them worth the effort.

Treasure Rooms all have an item, and Libraries all have at least one book.

One Devil Room variant was changed, removing an Imp from directly above the statue, which could hit the player immediately upon entering the room. This was replaced with a Globin in the corner of the room. Devil Rooms are otherwise unchanged.

This mod used to work fine, but i think its broken now, the angel rooms appear with no itens sometimes. I love this mod pls fix.

I think something is infact happening with this mod, as I do not get the four stone chests in the dark room.

I’ll try it again but basically when I try to enter the Dark Room from Sheol, the game crashes.

So far, I have not been able to reproduce the crash when going to the dark room. If you experience a crash with this mod turned off, then it is probably unrelated to the mod. I would recommend turning off mods entirely and trying again.

My dark room is also broken as of booster pack #5, but unregistering from this mod didn't let me go in.
