How to run with THREE Main Pawns
By Drake Ravenwolf
Ever wished you could design and build up all three of your pawns instead of having to hire out 2 of them?
In this guide I will detail the steps required to do just that!

Introduction
First off, a broad overview of the process before we get into the step-by-steps.

We will be creating two new Steam accounts, linking them to your main Steam account via Family Sharing, and then optionally copying over your savefile to the new accounts and editing the pawns on those new accounts. In that way you will be able to customize and design the two pawns you hire exactly as you did your main pawn, and since they are from a "friend's" account you will be able to hire them for 0 RC at all times.

None of the steps in this guide will cost you money. Eg, new Steam accounts require you to spend $5 on them before you can make friends – this guide will show you how that is not necessary for what we are doing. And you will not need to buy extra copies of the game thanks to Family Sharing.

None of the steps in this guide will result in a “soft ban” from the pawn sharing server, at least as long as you do not make any mistakes :-P

Later steps in this guide can however be considered “cheating.” If that rubs you the wrong way I will make clear the steps which you can skip inorder to remain pure ;)
1 - Creating new Steam Accounts
1 – In the upper left corner of Steam, click “Steam”
2 – In the pull down menu select “Change User” and confirm
3 – In the login screen click “ Create a new account” and confirm
4 – Follow the promts, accept the agreements, name the new account w/e you like with w/e password you like (if you want to be safe, use a difference password than your main account uses) the contact email can be the same as you main account, confirm you want a new account
5 – Now that you are logged into Steam under the new account, click the ? In the lower right corner next to “View Friends List”
6 – On the new page click the big green button “Setup Steam Profile”
7 – The only thing you need to do on this page is setup a Custom URL for this profile so you can find it with you main profile, anything will work as long as it is unique
8 – Click “Save Changes,” open a web browser and go to that new URL
9 – Click “Login” in the upper right corner of the page and log into your main steam account on the web browser page, you may have to retrieve a key from your email account to proceed, do so.
10 – You should now be viewing the new account's profile while logged in on your main account, go ahead and click “Add friend” in the upper right
11 – Go back to the Steam app (aka not the web browser) that should still be logged in as the new account and accept the friend invite that should have just popped up in your notifications in the upper right corner of the screen
12 – At this point you would be able to see and hire for free pawns created by the other account; it may or may not be necessary, but we will now link the accounts via Family Sharing – it will not hurt anything and guarantees that your new account has the right to use a 2nd license of Dragon's Dogma
13 – Still logged in as the new account click “Steam” in the upper left corner of the screen again and this time select “Settings”
14 – Click “Verify email address,” wait for the email to arrive and click the link they send you
15 – Back in the Steam app “Security Status” should now be “Steam Guard not enabled” - this (and the previous step) are required to turn on Family Sharing – so go ahead and click the “View Account Details” in the top right corner of the settings menu
16 – On the new page click “Manage Steam Guard” in the middle left, and turn it on with w/e option you like
17 – Back at the settings pop up it can be tricky to get it to recognize that Steam Guard has been enabled, try clicking on headings other than “Account” then come back to “Account” and that tends to make it update for me
18 – Once it says “Security Status: Protected by Steam Guard,” switch over to the “Family” tab and check the box titled “Authorize Library Sharing on this computer,” and then check the box next to your main account
19 – Now “Change user” again just like at the start of this guide and log into your main account in the Steam app, go back to the Settings → Family, go ahead and again check the box labeled “Authorize Library Sharing on this computer” and the box next to the new account you created
20 – Whew! Finally done! Oh... but wait... you wanted to be able to build and design 2 extra pawns not just one... well looks like you are gonna need to repeat this whole process then :S I'll see you in the next section while you go and do that
2 - Copying your Savefile
This step is optional, if you are a purist you can just play Dragon's Dogma on the new account(s) and level up a new Arisen and Pawn from 1 to 200 without worry about messing up your main account or savefile. You can even hire your main accout's pawn and earn RC for the main account while you level up... But that's a lot of work, so I prefer to just copy the savefile over to the new accounts and make changes from there. :)

This can be done at any stage of the game (on the main account) but keep in mind that hired pawns do not gain exp so you may want to wait till your main are both lvl 200 or alternatively I will detail how to make the alt accounts' pawns lvl 200 in the next section, up to you.

1 - Navigate on your computer to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
2 - In here should be three folders with very long numbers, one is your main account and the other two will be your new alt accounts. You can tell the difference because the main account's folder will be FULL of ♥♥♥♥ while the new alt account folders will be mostly empty. Go to the main account's folder and find folder "367500" this is Dragon's Dogma. Copy that folder and paste it into the other two accounts' folders
3 - There is no step 3, you are done!
3 - Editing alt-account Pawns
If you are a purist, ignore this section completely.

There are several ways to do this, but you will be savegame editing. I prefer this "mod" that gives you all the tools you will need and more from an in-game options menu:
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/96/?

You could also use:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=602715139
While using this for reference:
http://www.360haven.com/forums/threads/14213-Dragon-s-Dogma-Modding-Full-Save-Editing

What ever tools you use there are two ways to proceed; you can take the copied savefile pawn and just make tweaks to it to turn it into a new pawn, or you can choose to make a "New Game" and level up a completely new pawn via cheats. IMO it is better to do the former if your main is already lvl 200 while it is better to do the latter if you are just (re)starting the game or aren't very far along at all, I'll detail both methods below.

Method 1: Editing a copied pawn
1 - Use this site to plan out the stats of your ideal pawn:
https://stackoverflow.github.io/dragons-dogma-stat-planner/
Eg. Mage as base, then Sorcerer to lvl 100 & 200 for Magic DPS
Eg. Fighter as base, then Warrior to lvl 100, then Ranger to lvl 200 for Physical DPS
Eg. Fighter as base, then Warrior to lvl 100, then Fighter to lvl 200 for Tanks
Whatever stats you design, make sure your PLANED new pawn is the same level as your copied pawn, or otherwise make sure to go in-game and set the copied pawn to 200 before proceeding.
2 - The dinput hooks mod is accessed in-game by pushing F12, Steam also defaults to using this key to take screenshots so you may want to turn off the Steam in-game overlay or otherwise change the hotkey for taking screenshots from the Steam "Settings -> In-Game" menu
3 - Making sure you are logged into one of your alt-accounts (Steam keeps separate settings for each account mind) go in-game, keep in mind your cursor will only be visible if the cursor was visible in-game so feel free to open up the ESC or any other menu before browsing the mod's options.
4 - The first thing you will notice if the mod is active is that you now have a clock telling you the in-game time of the Dragon's Dogma world, if you are lacking that - the mod is not installed correctly. If it is installed then F12 pulls up the mod options menu, from here we are interested in "STATS -> Main Pawn"
5 - Under "Attributes," you can go ahead and set the Strength/Magick/Defenses/MDefenses to the exact values you got from the online pawn planner, but HP and ST are more complicated... it is best if you removed any rings/cloaks etc that affect these values. For HP you should be able to just set all three values to the new value. For ST you need to do some math; first take your pawn planner number and subtract 540 from it, this is the value that should go into the right most Stamina Box. Next figure out what your pawn's weight class is AT THE MOMENT and add or subtract to 540 to find the value that belongs in the middle Stamina box.
  • SS class characters subtract 40 so put 500 in the middle Stamina box
  • S class characters subtract 20 so put 520 in the middle Stamina box
  • M class characters subtract 0 so put 540 in the middle Stamina box
  • L class characters add 20 so put 560 in the middle Stamina box
  • LL class characters add 40 so put 580 in the middle Stamina box
Use this page to help you:
http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Character_Weight
6 - Finally, add the numbers you have in the middle and right hand Stamina boxes to find what belongs in the left Stamina box. On the Dragon's Dogma "Status" page your pawn should now have a full Stamina bar if you did everything correctly. You can make mistakes as long as you correct them before uploading the pawn's data to the pawn server which happens when you rest and see that blue loading bar.
7 - Next go to "Inclinations" and set them as you wish for the new pawn; they can all be any number from 0 to 1000 (inclusive) My advice would be to order them from most to least preferred. Setting your most preferred attribute to 1000, then decreasing in steps of 50 with traits you abhor set to 0. I'd avoid setting more than three inclinations to 0 tho; inclinations below tertiary still have an affect on pawn behavior.
Eg a Mage might be set as follows:
Utilitarian = 1000
Medicant = 950
Mitigator = 900
Challenger = 850
Guardian = 800
Acquisitor = 500
Nexus = 0
Pioneer = 0
Scather = 0
"Skill use" seems to be how often a pawn will randomly speak, so feel free to set it to 0 as well or otherwise leave it untouched. Correction: "It's a param that decides how often your Pawn choose to use a skill over a basic attack. The bigger the number more frequently he will use a skill."
8 - You can use the "Vocations" to set each vocation's rank to 9, but I'd stick to Olra or innkeepers for messing with anything else involving them.
9 - Finally go ahead and save and exit out to the main menu, if you previously unlocked the "Secret of Metamorphosis" on this save use that now to alter the pawn's appearance, or you can use the same options through the mod. If "Secret of Metamorphosis" is NOT on this save you can click (NOT up/down and enter, you have to click) on "Manual" from the main options screen and the mod will take you to the same "Secret of Metamorphosis" customization.
10 - Once everything is just how you want it and you are sure you've made no errors, Ferrystone over to BBI and use the bench to upload the pawn to the pawn servers.

Method 2: Editing a fresh pawn
1 - First progress a New Game to the point of designing a fresh pawn at the Encampment then follow Steps 1-4 of Method 1 above.
2 - Your pawn should be a lvl 1 in the class you choose to base the pawn in, from the F12 Menu navigate to "STATS -> Main Pawn -> Attributes" and just click "Level up" until your pawn is lvl 10 (you will have to un-pause the game to make the level up happen)
3 - Rest until nightfall, then run back to Cassardis. Go to the docks and talk to Olra to go to BBI, once there Olra will allow you to change your pawn's vocation, feel free to give him/her 2000 discipline points for this. Change to your 10-100 vocation and continue leveling your pawn up with the mod.
4 - Again change the pawn's vocation to what you want it to be from 101-200 and this time just set the pawn's exp to 40 million to reach lvl 200 instantly, you can also use this trick in step 3 if the vocation you want from 10-100 is the same as from 101-200
5 - At this point it is up to you how far you want to take the pawn, you can turn common rocks into Gold Dragon Forged Level 3 BBI gear and give the pawn rank 9 in all vocations with enough discipline points to buy EVERYTHING in every vocation -or- you can use the gifting system to give gear from your main account to the alt-account and just log over each time you want to change their gear.
6 - This fresh pawn will learn at the same rate as your main pawn in terms of Bestiary / Quests / Geography as long as he/she is hired constantly on your main account, just keep in mind hired pawns never gain EXP while hired and thus never earn discipline or rank up their vocations while hired. Additionally, you are unable to gift most BBI items to alt-accounts, but with all the RCs that hired pawn will be bringing back to the alt-account you could legitimately gift cursed items to the alt-account and then purify them on the alt-account.
7 - Once everything is just how you want it and you are sure you've made no errors, use the bench to upload the pawn to the pawn servers.
4 - Pawn Ideas
I'll list here what I plan to do with my pawns in case it sparks ideas for anyone else.

If you have any constructive criticism or helpful comments - I welcome such feedback.
Or if you have any questions I'll do my best to help out.
Otherwise thank you for taking a look at my guide.
Remember to rate, like, and favorite this guide if you found it helpful :D

Also, please consider hiring my pawn Morrigan. She is my main account pawn so I have to constantly push that Medicant inclination back up to #2 but I try to make sure she is perfect again before each upload to the pawn server.

I'm still working on her bestiary 3 stars, so any help in that regard would be greatly appreciated. She is set to be available to everyone, but if you want to be sure to get her leave me a message here then friend me. I reject all friend requests unless you leave a message for me first.

Yeah, you can still hire online pawns/search for top ranked pawns etc.

They only shut down the Pawn Sharing server which is the site used to share pictures of your pawns or something. I can confirm pawn sharing in game still works though.

Ah, well if pawns cannot be shared at all *that* would block being able to share your own pawns with yourself
The Weirdist 21 May, 2023 @ 2:57pm
I read somewhere that Capcom had shut down servers for this game but it was not clear what servers were being referred to.
Drake Ravenwolf  [author] 21 May, 2023 @ 12:16pm
I haven't gone back and tested it again in the ~6 years since I wrote it up but I'm also not aware of any change in the mechanisms it uses to achieve the result either. Family sharing of games is still the same and as long as that part works the game devs cannot block the rest of it
The Weirdist 21 May, 2023 @ 12:10am
Does this still work?

This seems like a hassle. Is there not a mod created to allow for 3 main pawns?
