Corruption: PvE Combat - Drone Guide [Obsolete]
By Meridius_IX / Lucas
This guide lists the different encounters you'll find in the 'Corruption: PvE' mod.

04/02/2019: I am marking this guide as obsolete. I am planning an extensive rewrite of the entire mod and have no plans to further to maintain this guide until the rewrite is complete - at which point I will likely create a new guide. Until the rewrite is complete, the guide is still relevant

Blackmail Drone

Specifications

Grid Size
Small
Block Count

Weapons
None
Uses Raycast
No
Loot Containers
No

Behavior

This drone will fly towards the nearest player it detects and stop a few kilometers away. It will then broadcast a message instructing near-by players to disarm and meet-up with the drone. Upon meeting with the drone, it will instruct the player to view some text panels on the drone chassis. The panels will indicate tha the drone will not call reinforcements if the player provides it with a payment of ingot resources (displayed on the panel).

If the player complies with the request, the drone will leave. If the player ignores the request, or tries to damage the drone, it will immediately call for reinforcements.

Do not read further if you want this encounter experience to be a surprise.

This ship is actually called Deception Drone. If you get within 1km of its position, it will reveal its true identity and call for several Strike Drone and Horsefly Drone reinforcements. The “Damaged” turrets will also be revealed to be fully functional. After revealing its identity, this ship will pursue the player in combat. This ship is also capable of using the forward facing rocket launcher to attack player grids if it makes a successful camera raycast detection.
Experimental Drone

Specifications

Grid Size
Small
Block Count
298
Weapons
Gatling Guns and Rocket Launchers
Uses Raycast
Yes
Loot Containers
No

Behavior

This drone uses an unknown technology that allows it to make short teleport bursts while attacking. When attacking, it can perform up to 5 rapid teleports. As it teleports, it will fire Gatling Guns and Rocket Launchers at its target. These attacks are very dangerous, especially against larger and slower moving ships.

After completing 5 teleports, it needs to temporarily retreat to recharge the teleport system. This drone will make a total of 3 runs at the player (each run containing 5 teleports), before retreating permanently.

The technology used in this drone is incredibly unstable. This means that the more damage the drone takes, the greater chance there is that the system will overload the drone, rendering it inoperable.
Fighter Drone

Specifications

Grid Size
Small
Block Count
188
Weapons
Gatling Guns and Rocket Launchers
Uses Raycast
Yes
Loot Containers
No

Behavior

This drone will fly directly towards the nearest player it detects. It does not have turrets onboard, but instead uses its camera (raycast) to detect if a player or their structures are in its line of sight. If it successfully detects an entity, it will activate gatling guns and rocket launchers.

If the player presses the button, the drone may dispense some randomized supplies or it may trigger a "Glitchy" event.
Gravity Cannon Drone

Specifications

Grid Size
Large
Block Count
562
Weapons
Player Made Weapon (PMW) and Gatling Turrets
Uses Raycast
Yes
Loot Containers
No

Behavior

This drone will try to locate the nearest player. If it detects a player or a player owned grid with its camera (raycast), it will break open a container of heavy ingots and launch them towards the player with a gravity field. After firing the gravity weapon, it will fly towards the player and engage them directly with its turrets.
Hacker Drone

Specifications

Grid Size
Small
Block Count
365
Weapons
Antenna (Remote Hacking)
Uses Raycast
No
Loot Containers
No

Behavior

This drone will approach the player position and then stop approximately 2500-3000 meters away. It then broadcasts a message indicating that it is going to begin hacking near-by systems. Any grid with an active antenna within the range of the Hacker Drone antenna is vulnerable to these attacks.

The drone will attempt random 1 hacking method every 35 seconds. The list of possible hacking methods are below:

  • Block Ownership: It can take ownership of a single block on your grid.

  • Disable Production: Turns off Refineries and Assemblers. Also targets Nanobot Build & Repair System if mod is loaded.

  • Disable Defenses: Turns off all Turrets and Weapons.

  • Disable Automation: Turns off all Timers and Programmable Blocks.

  • Hack Lights: Changes each light block to a random color and sets it on a slow randomized blink pattern.

  • Gyro Hack: Sets the Pitch/Yaw/Roll of a Gyroscope block to random values and activates the override toggle.

  • Thruster Hack: Sets all thrusters on one side of the ship to override thrust at random intervals.

  • Corrupt Names: Selects a handful of blocks in the terminal and renames them as a string of gibberish.
  • HUD Spam: Turns on the ‘Show on HUD’ option of all your terminal blocks.

  • Overload Shields: If ‘Energy Shields’ mod is enabled, this will drain active shields and damage the Shield Generator block.

If the drone cannot find access to a grid via antenna, it will eventually retreat.
