The Phoenix Rises: Byzantium Events, Missions, and Decisions

Byzantium is such an interesting nation in history. It is the last remnants of the Roman Empire, beaten and consumed from all sides. In 1444, The failed Crusade of Varna was the last nail in the coffin for the Byzantines, and in 1453, Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Empire. But there was still so many things that happened in Byzantium's last few years that Paradox fails to bring to light. There was tension, fear, diplomacy, and a sense of impending doom. The characters inside Byzantium were interesting and exciting, but the Vanilla game fails to represent them in a meaningful way. That's why I decided to create a mod that would add a lot more flavor to Byzantium.

30+ New Events are added in this mod that represent historical situations like the state of vassalage that existed between Byzantium and the Ottomans, the philosophical and technological boom that was occuring in Constantinople at the time, and the events that lead up to the final conquest of Constantinople. Events are added that introduce characters such as Giovanni Giustiniani, Loukas Notaras, and Prince Orhan, who were important generals who led the defense of Constantople. The last of the Palaiologoi are also given special modifiers as well. Events are added that will help or hurt Byzantium, had it survived and kicked the Ottoman Empire out of Europe.

Hopefully, this mod will make Byzantium's fate more dynamic than a death sentence, make the country more historically accurate, and help or hinder players who are looking to restore the Roman Empire through Byzantium.

Should be compatible with other mods (Extended Timeline, etc), since it only adds Events and it barely touches any other History or Common files.
