LOTR Units Pack

Description
NB: For this mod to work, you must follow these steps:
1. Download this file here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_BvnVIoEdjGM1dNWG03T1BsZGs
.
2. Extract/unzip its contents, and place the two files within your Total War ...(your custom directory)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Attila\data folder.
3. Check that you have these files:
i] @LOTR_Units_Pack_base.pack (from subscribing to this steam mod)
ii] @LOTR_Units_Pack_models.pack in your folder, including its image icons. The second file should be around 700mb.
4. Launch Total War: Attila and make sure you have both of these .pack files ticked. If it doesn't let you enable the models, then tick the 'Enable out-of-date mods' button.
(5.) This mod currently uses high detail assets and will cause low to medium computers to suffer in respect to low FPS and lag- please turn 'unit details' to (max) performance and 'texture quality' to low/medium if you have issues.
6. Please check for model link updates as new things might be added: Google Drive Links Last Updated: 15/05/2017
If you have problems someone made a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0i-1l10NSj4

PREAMBLE: I trust that you, judges of this work and users and players, to wonder why it is, that when those are sitting studiously at their work, to whom I must not be compared in talent nor experience nor dignity, I above all, rose to put forward this submission of work, one in the rare field of the Lord of the Rings. All of them, including those who sit behind the Rise of Mordor modification, to whose quality I name in honour and fall short of myself, and the others, spinning lesser to their capabilities through the manipulation of public work unsuited for the manner of such a modification, think it necessary to defend their dignity from what rapacious and unqualified move I might take (although a side note to their benefit should be mentioned that I am not affiliated with their work). Why then? Am I the bravest and quickest and freest from all of them? No. I am not even eager for fame here indeed, that which I do not wish to be snatched away from others. What thing therefore drives me to create and publish and distribute this mod then? It is because, that these men sitting there without any more than what is there for the public to look upon, in that regards I seek, because I have not yet approached a full fledged public life with followers, to create a middle ground for those eager for some effort and quality in work awaiting the Rise of Mordor's actual release, and added to this any references and errors I include should be able to be passed heedlessly or pardoned for my youth; since such times (busy for me) prevent complete autonomy in work, but also the custom to uphold both punctuality for some and distinction in those put forward has been neglected in respect to the community's thirsting interests.

CONTENTS: Friends, Romans, countrymen: this is a succession to the previous (and my only other public release) 'LOTR Gondor Units Pack' for Rome II Total War, and has since, by sudden zeal or a gap in the dark clouds or whatever, expanded on my endeavour into a medium sized mod. It now has more than just Gondor, and with the Harad faction you can now have an evil opponent to fight with.
>The units currently are as of such:
Gondor (Eastern Roman Empire)
-Gondor Infantry, Spearmen, Archers, Cavalry
-Guards of Osgiliath (pikemen)
-Citadel Guard
-Fountain Guard
-Rangers of Ithilien
-Pelargir Marines
-Gondor Militia (three classes)
-Axemen of Lossarnach (& militia)
-Swan Knights
-Three variants of Ships
-Lords (various) of both singular and entourage options
Harad (Sassanid Empire)
-Haradrim Spearmen, Archers, Swordsmen
-Southron Spearmen, Archers, Camel Cavalry, Cavalry
-Corsairs (& archers)
-Muhad Tribesmen, Beastmasters
-Serpent Guard
-Two variants of Ships
Lindon (Western Roman Empire)
-Eldarinwe Swordsmen, Spearmen, Archers, Cavalry, Ballista (fires rock and bolts)
-Lord Cirdan
Next update I will try to have: Gondor Squires, remodelled and original Haradrim roster, expanded Lindon roster and retexture.
>I also introduced for Gondor and Lindon archers, a longbow type of shot (choose whistling) that shoots over your own forces.
>Campaign recruitment capability. For this reason, I did not bother to make them separate custom factions for custom battle.

BALANCE: Gondorian units, especially professional soldiers (tier 3), are designed to cost an impressive amount in respect to their skill and swordsmanship. They will probably win most fights against Harad unless lower tier units make up more than half of their roster. I have yet to increase the balance and Haradrim roster, and so currently the Haradrim units have been augmented to meet their Gondorian counterparts in quality for this update.

ANCIENT EMPIRES RELEASE: Please follow this link for a version compatible with the Ancient Empires mod, which I laud above all for content and above that, its balancing system (I very much appreciate its longer battles and probably a bit better matched than vanilla.) Units are in Roman Empire, Arverni, Saba. Complete the same procedure as to when downloading the models pack for vanilla. This one is standalone and does not require the models file activated.

BUGS (INC. AESTHETIC):
-Harad and Dol Amroth units can take very long to load in battle (5 minutes sometimes) just be patient:).
-I couldn't be bothered to make good unit icons as I used the nice ones made in ROM's public balancing alpha mod myself, you can find that and implement them if you wish.
-Cloaks do not animate smoothly.
-Gondor militia shields do not use all variant patterns intended, and dirt is too bright.
-In the Ancient Empires version, fighting an AI with 'Roman Empire' faction will cause a crash. If you are having problems in custom battles for Ancient Empires, try setting yourself and the AI away from the Rome Empire faction in a vanilla game and run a battle once, then press exit (not alt f4) and reopen the game with the mod enabled.
-Cavalry may fight standing on their horses and die floating in midair.
-Also with AE, do NOT fire a volley of arrows before the two armies are engaged- it can crash due to AI changes.
-More to be discovered and reported.
I will try to address as many of these for the next update.

UPDATES: The next update will be attempted in July after a period of business in life. I will try to address bugs known and reported, any particularly appealing comments made, and a focus on Harad and Lindon rosters, amongst a few other things.

Huge fan of the mod. Really changes the campaign experience. Is there any chance at all that you could go through the trouble to add units of Rohan?

is there a way to fix the general bodyguard unit selection? i can only select infantry, since i cant scroll down. i'd want my general to be mounted most of the time..
