I believe he was referring to your 'twat-like' behaviour (including the very comment I am responding to now) not that you released something for free. No one is doubting the quality of your original mod, but that doesn't give you the right to dictate how people use it.
Regarding your error in judgement and what you've overlooked: Well for starters the fact that the person who hired you didn't want to pay you for ACE3 support, not that he wanted it legally restricted; As well as the very definition of Copyright.
