ZAZ/SAS/3A3 Saporoshez 968A

The Saporoshez SAS 968 (Ukrainian ЗАЗ-968 «Запорожець», Russian ЗАЗ-968 «Запорожец») and its successor SAS 968A are small cars of Soviet, now Ukrainian, manufacturer Saporisky Awtomobilebudiwny Sawod (SAS), manufactured from 1971 to 1979.

The SAS 968 / 968A models have V4 air cooled engines with 40 or 45 HP, built in the rear. Yes its true, 45HP in the DDR, just incredible. :) These engines were normally used to start Russian panzers. :)

Like its predecessors, the SAS 968 had a bad reputation in the DDR. The air-cooled rear-mounted engine had a tendency to overheat, and the gasoline heating system was also not safe because of fire hazard. It's true. :) In the DDR we called the car Taigatrommel, Zappelfrosch or Chruschtschows Rache. It's completely true! :)

It's the same "minifig" scale and time period as my other cars. So check out my other creations. :)
