Hunter's Grimm Walkthrough (WIP)
By RayHiwatari
EDIT: I found all the Chess Pieces now and changed the guide accordingly. Meaning I deleted the parts (in Overview and Sharona) where I wrote I was missing the White Pawn and added the information about the location (Hauntsburreigh). Search for the word “EDIT:” in the guide and you will be directed to where it is in the guide.

This is my first real try at a guide/walkthrough and I might “spoiler” some things unknowingly as I tend to write a lot. In this guide I will try to cover all the Main and Side Quests as well as the locations of the Chess Pieces. I didn't finish the game yet but I played up to the part where I am able to enter Shadewood Glen and I am still missing two Black Chess Pieces. However, I decided to start the game anew for this walkthrough. Any help, suggestions or constructive criticism is welcomed.

Introduction
This is still a work in progress as I will update it whenever I finish an area. Unfortunately, I am still not that familiar with how the creation of a guide in Steam works, so it might look a bit awkward and not how I imagined it to be. Still, I will try to do my best to get it across in the way I want it to be and make it easy for others to understand. It might also be possible that I missed some stuff, so I don't claim it to be perfect in the first place.
I will split this guide into several segments within a part of the walkthrough. Firstly an overview of the Quests and Items you can find at the new locations, then the main walkthrough and thirdly only the stuff you need to do for a quest in this certain area. That way you might be able to find or do the stuff you are still missing a lot easier.
Also, English isn't my native language, so there is a high possibility for spelling errors and/or grammar mistakes. Suggestions for missing or adding stuff are welcomed.
Bower's Creek (Part 1)
Quests:
- “On the Job” (Main Quest)
- “A Game of Skill and Strategy” (Side Quest - Ethereal Chamber)

Items found:
- 4 Silver Keys
- Chewy Bread
- Black Rook (House 1)
- White Pawn (House 1)
- 5 Silver Keys
- 5 Silver Keys
- Black Pawn
- White Rook
- Black Pawn
- White Pawn (Mayor's House)
- 20 Silver Keys (Grey's Cavern)
- 25 Silver Keys (Mayor's House – reward for Quest “On the Job”)

When you start in Bower's Creek, walk down to the house on your right and talk to the person in front of it. He will give you valuable information that you will have to follow throughout the entire game in order to find certain things. Follow his advice right now (I will explore the entire village before continuing with the main quest.). In the hole beside him you will find “4 Silver Keys” which are your gold in this game.
Go all the way down to the furthest house below (Ethereal Chamber) and enter it (No visible door but the sandy path leads to the entrance from above.). Following the conversation of those two people inside, you will get the quest "A Game of Skill and Strategy“ to do for them and you have no choice in the matter if you want to accept or not. Of course, it's still your decision to go along with it but I will try to cover the hiding places of all the chess pieces in my walkthrough as far as I am able to find them. You have to look EVERYWHERE for them after all.
To make it easier I started from the entrance of the village again to look for hidden stuff. Walk all the way to the right from the village entrance to find a chest with “Chewy Bread” between two trees. You are not able to enter the house to your left or the one below it, so continue to walk further to the left and enter the other house (House 1) with the person in front you should have talked to already. You will find a “Black Rook” in the vase on the shelf in the upper left room right beside the window and a “White Pawn” in the pot in the lower left corner of the house.
Go outside again and enter the next house (House 2) to your left if you want some background story about a quest you can do a bit later. The cave in the upper left corner can't be entered right now but you will get there eventually. So, continue down along the path with a locked house (Grain Store) to your left. There is a hole with “5 Silver Keys” at the underside of it and further down below in the lower left corner is a chest with another “5 Silver Keys”. Go upwards again towards the fenced in house and walk behind it. You should have noticed the scarecrow before and now you can approach it to get a “Black Pawn”. Feel free to enter the house below but there really isn't anything of importance there. Go towards the lower right corner and over the bridge. A “White Rook” is hiding in the left side of the fallen tree trunk. If you go back, you should first walk past the house above as you will continue the main quest “On the Job” when you enter it. Following the path upwards you will come to a well that has a “Black Pawn” in it.
Enter the Mayor's House that you avoided before (sign in front) to continue with the story. Before that though: There is a “White Pawn” hiding in the bigger pot on the far left side of the house. Talk to the Mayor now to progress with the story. Leave the house and walk to the upper left side to finally enter the cave. Once you talk to the father who is standing in the way, you will enter a boss fight against a Dybbuk. Even though you couldn't level before this fight, it still should be fairly easy as long as you keep an eye on Nicholas' health as the attacks seem to be focused on him mostly. Let's explore the cave after the fight and go to the lower left corner to find a chest with “20 Silver Keys”. Now you should talk to the Mayor in his house again (lower left corner) to get a small payment of “25 Silver Keys” for the job done. You're done with this area (for now) and can leave the village to go home to Grimm Manor.

On the Job
- Go to the Mayor's house (sign in front of it) in the lower right corner of the village and talk to him.
- Enter the cave in the upper left corner and get ready for a small and easy boss fight.
- Talk to the Mayor once again in his house to get your payment of “25 Silver Keys”.
- Leave the village for Grimm Manor and the quest is completed.

A Game of Skill and Strategy
- 3 White Chess Pieces (1 Rook, 2 Pawns)
- 3 Black Chess Pieces (1 Rook, 2 Pawns)
Grimm Manor (Part 1)
Quests:
- Stately Grimm Manor (Main Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- White Bishop (Grimm Manor outside)
- Ripe Specterberry (Grimm Manor outside)
- Pot for replenishing your health (Kitchen) ← NO ITEM
- Black Queen (Alchemy Cove)
- Bed for replenishing your health (Sarai's Room) ← NO ITEM
- 30 Silver Keys (Sarai's Room)

Walk up towards the house and take a “White Bishop” from the pot left of the house. As soon as you enter the house, you will get a sequence and have to go outside again. The spot where you can find the “Ripe Specterberry” is below the house and a bit to the right (at least for me). You can't miss it as the place sparkles. Enter the house once again and explore it before starting on the main quest. If you go up the stairs to the left, you will find a small pot beside the stove where you can replenish your health any time you come there.
Go back upstairs again and walk to the right to go down the stairs there. There is a “Black Queen” inside the cracked wall right above the stairs. Sarai will find Nicholas' “stash of magazines” in the hole a bit further to the left but it's not of interest. Return upstairs once more and walk through the left door after going up the ladder. The first room on the left is Sarai's Room where you can rest at any time to replenish your health and she has stored her allowance of “30 Silver Keys” in the desk in the upper right corner of the room, so take it.
The other two rooms are empty and of no interest. Return to the previous screen with the two ladders and enter the room to your right. You are now in the Library and can continue with the quest “Stately Grimm Manor”. So toss the specterberry inside the fireplace and have a sequence with the house ghost. Leave the room for the next sequence and head all the way outside of Grimm Manor and the surrounding area.

Stately Grimm Manor
- Go outside after the dialogue to find a “Ripe Specterberry” a bit below and right to the house.
- Return into the house, go all the way up and enter the right door to the Library.
- Throw your ripe specterberry inside the fireplace to talk to Horneberry.
- This quest will be continued in the new available area.

As I knew there was another quest in Bower's Creek at some point, I decided to check if it's available before I continue with the main quest “Stately Grimm Manor” and yes, you can start it now. So, once you are on the World Map go towards the sparkling spot on the left, enter Bower's Creek and go into the cave in the upper left corner. Talk to the father once more and you will receive the quest “Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House”. For now you can't do anything here anymore, so leave the town and go up on the World Map to enter the next sparkling spot which is Hauntsburreigh.
When you enter the town, you can see a butterfly near the entrance. You have to “catch” it as it holds a “Black King”. Go up besides the first house and talk to the person there. He will give you the quest “I See A Baaad Moon Rising”. Move to the other side of the house and take a “Black Pawn” from the white flowers. The sparkling spot at the pond let's you recover your health. Now enter this house (Store) and get some useful information about "Alchemy Skills" from the person on the right. The plaque on the wall beside the guy will tell you what ingredients you need for which skill. The guy behind the counter will sell you recovery items. I wouldn't recommend buying things right now as we don't need them yet and we don't have all that much money right now anyway. Also, the monsters later on will drop “Chewy Bread” and sometimes “Cough Syrup”.

EDIT: THE MISSING “WHITE PAWN” IS IN THE BARREL BESIDES THE CLOCK!

The house across the pond is the Mayor's House where you can continue the main quest. Enter it but before you approach the mayor, go to the left plant and find a “White Pawn” and a “Black Rook” in the lower shelf on the right wall. Now talk to the mayor and start helping out the villagers in question. The first person you can help is in the house at the lowest left corner. The entrance is below the sign, so go in and talk to the guy who is looking for his “cupcake”. Before we are going to look for it though, we will explore his house. You can find a “White Bishop” in the drawer in the upper right corner.
Go down the stairs in the lower left corner to find a chest with “10 Silver Keys” and approach the sparkling hole to find a white cat. Follow the cat upstairs and talk to the guy again. He will give you “5 Chewy Breads” for getting his cupcake back. Leave and talk to the person outside the house to get some information and start the quest “They Want Them Young” I will get to soon. First let's help out some more people. Move all the way up on the path and over the stairs to get to another area of town. There is a “Black Pawn” inside a hole in the wall in the upper left corner.
Enter the first house on the left and take a “White Knight” from the hole in the upper right corner. Talk to the boy and walk up the stairs to exterminate the Ghost. The Ghost deals equal damage to both Sarai and Nicholas but is still easy to defeat as you didn't have the chance to gain levels yet. The Ghost drops a nice “Fire Ring”, so equip it immediately to one of your characters. Open the chest with “15 Silver Keys” in it and talk to the boy downstairs before you leave the house. He will give you “150 Silver Keys” as a reward for exterminating the ghost.
Leave the house and move over to the next house to your right. Talk to the old lady here and get some Firewood for her outside. The sparkling tree trunk is to the right of the house, so you only need to click it until it stops sparkling (5 times) and go back inside to give the Firewood to the lady. Your reward is “50 Silver Keys” and you can leave the house after that. Outside it will have turned darker now which means you finished the villagers' tasks. Before we will talk to the mayor again though, we will take care of the quest “I See A Baaad Moon Rising”.
Go to the house on the furthest right (Abandoned House) and enter it as the one next to it is locked. Move down the stairs on the right and watch a cutscene before taking the plans from the table. You can turn this quest in talking to the guy near the first house and get a reward of “175 Silver Keys”. Before talking to the mayor again and progressing the story, you can take care of the quest “They Want Them Young” first. You can find the respective house (Windrose Residence) at the lower right corner of town, so just move down from where you are until you see a house with a sign in front of it. Enter it, talk to the father and move up the stairs to the girl's room. You can notice the footprints leading away from the bed towards the mirror, so move the mirror away from one side.
Down here it is a bit complicated to find the right way but I will try my best to make it easy understandable. The chest to the right contains “45 Silver Keys” and the chests further up on the right side contain “30 Silver Keys” and “60 Silver Keys”. Continue upwards on the path to the left and enter the next screen. There you will get to fight monsters for the first time but it won't be too hard to do it. You could also go back outside to the pond again to heal yourself as those monsters won't revive when you enter the “Secret Tunnel” again.

I had to split this as the text was too long, so it will be continued in the next part.
Hauntsburreigh (Part 2)
Continue to move to the left after you opened the chest to the right which contains “30 Silver Keys”. The upper path at the intersection leads to two chests with “20 Silver Keys” and “Chewy Bread”. Take the path to the left and walk all the way to the left to open a chest with “100 Silver Keys”. Continue further up until you reach a dead end and a chest with “Chewy Bread”. Now follow the path to the right, up at the next intersection and keep to the left side path. The chest here contains “45 Silver Keys” and the next one on the path has “35 Silver Keys” in it. The last chest on that road holds “40 Silver Keys”.
Walk back and move a bit into the right path but take the path leading down. You can find “100 Silver Keys” in the chest above you before you should move to the left and down until the path splits to left and right again. Don't forget to take the chest containing “40 Silver Keys”. Take the path to the right now and get a chest with “Honey Soda” on the way while going further right and taking a chest with “25 Silver Keys” below.
Go up, keep to the right side and take the second left path in order to find a chest that contains “Cough Syrup” at a dead end. Go all the way up on the right side and move further up and a bit to the right to get another chest with a “Medishroom” in it. With this you should have opened all of the chests – except for one which you will get soon – and killed nearly all the monsters there. If you walk left now, you will be forced into a cutscene but surprise NO boss fight.
Still, walk to the left and take the last chest in this dungeon for “50 Silver Keys” before backtracking all the way to the right and down until you have to turn left at the end and then take the first chance to go down into the Secret Tunnel. Leave the Secret Tunnel and go downstairs on the right to talk to the parents and get a reward of “100 Silver Keys”. Now it's time for you to talk to the mayor again, so go to her house left of the pond. Everything you could do here is now finished, so it's time for you to return to Grimm Manor for dinner.

I See A Baaad Moon Rising
- Enter the house (Abandoned House) in the furthest upper right corner of town.
- Go downstairs and take the plans after the cutscene.

- Move all the way up on the left side of town and enter the first house on the left.
- Talk to the boy and kill the Ghost upstairs.
- Go to the next house to the right, enter it and talk to the old lady inside.
- Get her the Firewood from outside (sparkling tree trunk) and return to her.
- Outside once more it's getting darker which means you helped all the villagers.
- Talk to the mayor again (house to the left beside the pond) to continue the quest in the next area.

They Want Them Young
- You have to talk to the person in front of the house in the lower left of town to start the quest.
- Move to the right afterwards and enter the house (Windrose Residence) with the sign in front of it.

Go to the bottom most sparkling spot on the World Map, enter Grimm Manor and walk up to the house. As soon as you enter the Kitchen by the stairs to the left, you will have a short sequence and with this the quest “Stately Grimm Manor” is finished. Leave the house and area again and walk up to the new sparkling spot at the mountain a bit up and to the left. This time you will face monsters that will revive whenever you leave a screen but the main drops of them are Chewy Breads and occasionally Cough Syrup. So healing items shouldn't be much of an issue yet but to be on the safe side, I would suggest you buy at least another 4 Cough Syrups in Hauntsburreigh (first house). Also, always kill the Attercop spiders first as they can poison you.
Enter the Drakkenspire Range whenever you are ready and watch a short scene. Move up on the right and follow the path there to get to a chest with “Chewy Bread” and take the “Torchberry” a bit to the left. You don't need to worry about those strange small flying creatures as they might block your way but don't harm you and neither can you do anything with them. Walk up from the left and take the chest to your right. You receive “75 Silver Keys”. Return to the main area and walk down towards the stairs to reach a chest with a “Chocolate Tea”. Walk back and to the right and up to the next chest which has “20 Silver Keys” in it.
Return to the stairs and follow the way leading down over the next two steps to the next screen. Walk up the stairs and take a “Medishroom” from the chest. Go back and follow the path to the right, up the stairs. Turn to the lower left path and approach the wood pile which is “Dragonhelm Bark” Now walk to the right and up over the next set of stairs. Go up the stairs a bit to the right and follow the way up and to the right over the bridge to reach the chests you could see just a moment ago. So, take them for a “Honey Soda” and “25 Silver Keys”.
Go all the way back to the stairs and turn right following that path while keeping to the upper part to get to a chest on a small plateau. It contains “Honey Soda”. After that go to the right while walking down and enter the next area for a chest with a “Cough Syrup” and a “Redhorne Flower” a bit to the right. Return and keep walking up a bit to the left until you reach a set of stairs with a wide open area. Take the “Windflute Reed” to the left and walk all the way to the right for a “Life up” in a chest. You can either use it right now or wait a bit longer as you will get two more characters into your party later.
Go up the two set of stairs and keep to the left taking the “Dawn's Heart Pollen” on the way. Take the stairs and keep walking to the right side and up to a chest with “30 Silver Keys” in it. Keep walking up and all the way to the left but don't forget to take the “Blitzapple Seed” on the way. Take the first chance to go down and take a “Spicy Cheese” and “75 Silver Keys” all the way down in two chests. Now return all the way up again and leave the area to the left.

The Party
- Go right until you reach the stairs but follow the path leading down to the next screen up.
- Keep walking to the right and up over the stairs, then a bit to the left and up to the next stairs.
- Follow the path to the right while keeping to the upper side and then turn upwards.
- Walk to the right and up the two sets of stairs.
- Use the stairs to your left and keep walking to the right and up.
- Then walk all the way to the left until you can leave this area.

Stately Grimm Manor
- You just have to return to Grimm Manor and enter the Kitchen to the left to finish the quest.
Omber (Part 1)
I need to split this up once again as it is too long.

Quests:
- Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House (Side Quest)
- Moving Schools (Side Quest)
- The Party (Main Quest)
- In Like Flint (Side Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- White Knight
- Black Bishop
- White Pawn
- Black Pawn
- White Queen (Flophouse)
- Black Pawn (Omber Slums)
- White Pawn (Omber Slums)
- Flint Stone (Omber Slums)
- Black Knight (Omber Slums)
- 200 Silver Keys (Omber Thouroughfare – reward for quest “In Like Flint”)
- Ice Ring (Omber Ballroom – monster drop from the Darksider)

Omber is the sparkling spot to the north on the world map, so enter it. You can take a “White Knight” from the hole underneath the right window a bit up, a “Black Bishop” from the barrel to the left next to the sign, a “White Pawn” is hiding in the right barrel under the window to the left and a “Black Pawn” is all the way left beneath the right window in a crack. Now enter the door in the middle and watch a small cutscene.
In this first section of “Omber Thouroughfare” you can only enter the doors to the far left and right. The right door leads to the “Flophouse” where you can rest for “25 Silver Keys”. You can also find a “White Queen” in the hole behind the guy offering you a bed. Feel free to rest and replenish your health there as you get around “60 Silver Keys” for one fight you win in the Drakkenspire Range. Leave the room and go to the door on the opposite side.
This is the “Black Market” where you can buy weapons as well as armor. If you followed my walkthrough and fought all monsters on the way, you should have around 3,500 Silver Keys. I will leave it to your decision in what you want to invest that money as I am sure everyone has a different strategy and/or preference for that. Buy better equipment and put it on. Right now money is still an issue as you can't buy all of the best equipment and you will get another character into your party in a bit.
Leave the room and go up the stairs to the second section. The person left of the pond sells you recovery items but there is nothing else you can do here, so walk up the next set of stairs. Before we continue with the story, we will do some more exploring and something for a quest as well as starting a new quest. On a side note: All the people standing around in the middle are there just as decoration. You can't talk to any of them right now, except for the person standing alone in the middle of the upper group. This is Gracie and you will progress the story by approaching her.
There are two staircases, one to the left and the other one to the right. You can take either side as they both lead to the same place but to make it simple I started on the left. So, take those stairs and immediately go up to the hole besides the first bed to get a “Black Pawn”. Walk down to the next intersection and turn right. I don't know if there is a purpose to it but the guy standing besides the rock pile is asking for donations. I tried to give him up to 20 Silver Keys but nothing ever changed and I gained nothing from it. So, just ignore that person for now.
The person sitting at the table is the Cleric you need for the quest “Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House”. Talk to him and he will agree to help the family in “Bower's Creek”. Now let's get to a new quest and another chess piece. Walk as far down as you can and right to take a “White Pawn” from the small hole above the stone pile and talk to the fish inside the water underneath the woman. This will net you the quest “Moving Schools”. Now go up the stairs next to her and continue to go up until you reach the hole in the upper wall. You will get a “Flint Stone” (and a cartoon reference) that you will need in a bit.
Return all the way down and turn to the right and up the stairs there. There is a “Black Knight” hidden in the small hole to your right. Go a bit up and take the stairs to the right to return to “Omber Thouroughfare” and approach Gracie to the left. Watch the short scene and then approach the leftmost guard to get the quest “In Like Flint”. Fortunately, you already found the necessary “Flint Stone”, so talk to the guard a second time and receive a reward of “200 Silver Keys” for finishing the quest.
Now enter through the door above, watch the next short scene and talk to the guy in the upper left besides the 3 girls on the bench to see an optional argument. There is nothing else of interest here except for background information about monsters and their respective species if you're so inclined to read all of it. If not, start to talk to Gracie left of the guards. She will ask you to mingle with the people here, so talk to some and make sure to SAVE the game before you approach her again. For some strange reason I got stuck with a game breaking issue as I talked to Gracie from below her and moved down after the cutscene. This caused the guard closest to me to move as well and completely blocked me in as he was meant to guard the person below me.
Omber (Part 2)
Go up the staircases, continue to go up on the left side and talk to the “Grumpy Man” who will be part of your team shortly. He disappears and the spikes are up now where he was standing just a moment ago. Click on the spikes and then go through the door in the middle after the short dialogue. Walk all the way up on the right side and take the “Iron Orb” from the hands of the statue there before going over to the left side and giving the “Iron Orb” to the other statue. This lowered the spikes on both sides out in the hall.
Both doors lead to the same place but I enter the right one as you need to start from that side to make it easier. Go into the room to your left and read the sign in the upper left corner for some much needed information. The door in the middle is still locked but we are about to take care of that. Go into the next room to your left and enter the correct time (6:45) into the clock on the top right. This took care of the locked door, so leave this room and enter the middle room.
Damn, that “Grumpy Man” locked you in, so let's search for the key. Nicholas will feel embarrassed when you click on the right side of the drawer with the picture on top but the key is hiding in the plant to the right. Take it, unlock the door and use the “Bedroom Key” on the “Glowing Dias” below you. The further up you walk the more lights will turn on and the brighter it gets. SAVE the game and prepare for a boss fight after the scene. You have to fight a Darksider and he's fairly strong, so keep an eye out for your health. Still, this fight won't take too long and you are rewarded with an “Ice Ring” as monster drop.
You are now seen as a “traitor” by the Baroness and have to leave Omber. You can't access the upper part anymore but you can still visit the “Omber Slums”, buy things on the “Black Market” and/or rest for the night in "Flophouse" at any time which I suggest you should do. Once you're finished, you have to head out to “Grimm Manor” through the “Drakkenspire Range” to the right on the world map.

Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House
- Enter Omber, go inside through the door in the middle and walk two set of stairs up.
- Turn left before you approach the group of people and go down the stairs there.
- Go down, then immediately right and up to talk to the Cleric sitting at the table.

Moving Schools
- Enter Omber, walk up in the middle and over the next two set of stairs.
- Take the staircase to the left into “Omber Slums” and walk all the way down.
- Turn right and talk to the fish inside the water directly underneath the woman.

The Party
- Enter Omber to the north and continue to walk up through the door in the middle.
- Continue to walk up two sets of stairs and approach Gracie in the middle of the upper group.
- Enter the next screen through the door above and walk to the left and up.
- Turn right above the huge dinosaur display and talk to Gracie.
- She will ask you to mingle, so talk to some people, especially on the right side.
- SAVE the game (I had a game breaking issue) and talk to her again.
- Go upstairs to the next screen and approach the “Grumpy Man”.
- Click on the spikes above you and go into the door in the middle.
- Walk all the way up on the right side and take the “Iron Orb” from the statue there.
- Bring it over to the statue on the left and put it in its hands.
- Return to the previous screen and take the door to your right.
- Enter the first room to your left and read the sign in the upper left.
- Leave again and go into the second room from the left.
- Input the correct time into the clock above and leave the room once more.
- Go through the unlocked door in the middle and watch a scene.
- Get the key from the plant in the upper right corner to unlock the door.
- Use the key on the “Glowing Dias” below you.
- Walk all the way up while the lights turn on and prepare for a boss fight.
- Fight the Darksider and continue the quest in “Grimm Manor”

In Like Flint
- Enter Omber and the town, then walk up two set of stairs and turn left.
- Take the stairs down and walk all the way down.
- Turn right and take the next bigger stairs all the way up to a hole to get the “Flint Stone”
- Return to the staircase leading upstairs to the previous screen and approach Gracie.
- Talk to the leftmost guard to receive the quest and talk to him again.
- You will receive “200 Silver Keys” as reward and the quest is finished.

A Game of Skill and Strategy
- 4 White Chess Pieces (1 White Knight, 2 White Pawn, 1 White Queen)
- 4 Black Chess Pieces (1 Black Bishop, 2 Black Pawn, 1 Black Knight)
Miscellaneous (Drakkenspire Range, Hauntsburreigh, Grimm Manor)
Quests:
- Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House (Side Quest)
- Moving Schools (Side Quest)
- The Party (Main Quest)
- Monteblancs Mission (Main Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- 1,000 Silver Keys (Grimm Manor outside – reward for quest “Moving Schools”)
- Travel Pack (Grimm Manor – Kitchen)

Sell at least “20 Chewy Bread” (you will get them back) to buy more equipment before you leave Omber and head to the Drakkenspire Range to the east. We need to reach Grimm Manor but I will keep it short as we don't need to explore the mountain pass anymore. Feel free to fight all the monsters you encounter to earn money and experience. It's a lot easier now that you have – with “THE Monteblanc” – three people in your party but you still need to level him as well as earn money for equipment.
Walk all the way to the right, down and to the left. Then continue down and once more to the right and down over the stairs. Turn a bit left and down and take the next set of stairs down. Continue to go down and then left while following the upper side of the road. Now ignore the small stairs above and walk down the big set of stairs a bit more to the left. Continue to go down (again a bit to the left) and over the next set of big stairs. Turn left and keep going left until you can go down and leave to the next screen.
Walk down the stairs and follow the path. You will see some guards to your left and you have to fight them, so prepare before engaging them. Your enemies are three guards but they don't pose much of a threat if you keep a lookout for your characters' health. Now go a bit more to the left and down to leave the area. Walk north on the world map and enter Hauntsburreigh. Heal yourself at the pond and walk back to the first house (Store). Nicholas can learn some skills now as we collected the necessary ingredients, so talk to the guy in the upper right corner.
Nicholas will learn “Aqua Pyrae” and “Aeolus Dust”. Leave and walk all the way down to Grimm Manor. You can finish the quest “Moving Schools” now by walking up to the lake and dropping the fish at the underside of the lake. The fish will generously reward you with “1,000 Silver Keys” but may end up on your dinner plate at a later date (joke). Finally enter the house and progress the story. You will wake up in Sarai's room with only her in your team, so let's get the other team members.
Leave the room and Nicholas will join you once more. Monteblanc is in the room below you, so watch the scene and he will join you as well. With this the main quest changed to “Monteblancs Mission” and we get new locations (“Dustyshade Road” and “Sharona”) to explore in a bit. Firstly, talk to Horneberry in the Kitchen (stairs furthest down on the left) to receive a “Travel Pack”. I never unpacked it as I didn't see any need for that but feel free to do so if you want. Secondly, leave Grimm Manor and walk to Drakkenspire Range.
You can either “enter it” or “pass through it”. Of course it's easier to just pass through it but it might make more sense to gain experience/levels for the later fights and money for equipment. Still, the decision is all yours and I won't explain the way through Drakkenspire Range again. Once you have reached the other side, I strongly recommend you buy some more equipment and sell some Chewy Bread as well in order to get money for equipment. Leave Omber and walk south to the new location “Dustyshade Road”.

The Party
- Return from Omber to Grimm Manor by crossing through Drakkenspire Range.
- I won't explain the directions again, so see the second paragraph of the walkthrough above.
- Go down to Grimm Manor and enter the house to finish the quest after the cutscenes.

Monteblancs Mission
- Take the “Travel Pack” from Horneberry in the Kitchen of Grimm Manor.
- Leave Grimm Manor and go through Drakkenspire Range.
- Go south to Dustyshade Road and enter it.

Moving Schools
- Return from Omber to Grimm Manor by crossing through Drakkenspire Range.
- See the second paragraph of the walkthrough above for the directions again.
- Enter Grimm Manor to the south of the world map and walk up left to the lake.
- Click on the underside of the lake and finish the quest by dropping the fish in.
Dustyshade Road
Quests:
- Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House (Side Quest)
- Monteblancs Mission (Main Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- Frostblossom
- Chewy Bread
- Snowberry
- Honey Soda
- Marble Chit
- 500 Silver Keys
- Nimbusbloom
- 200 Silver Keys
- Chocolate Tea
- Graverot
- Hiverleaf
- Warrior Bracelet (Bandit Camp – drop from the “Bandit Chief”)
- Fire Bomb (Bandit Camp – drop from the “Bandit Chief”)
- Magic Key (Bandit Camp – guarded by “Bandit Chief”)
- 35 Silver Keys
- Guard up
- 100 Silver Keys
- Spicy Cheese
- 200 Silver Keys
- Medishroom
- Medishroom
- Spicy Cheese

The enemies here are stronger than the ones in Drakkenspire Range and can nearly make you unable to attack if you are unlucky. Read the sign below you to know what you will have to look out for and take the white flowers (“Frostblossom”) on the left. Follow the path down to the next screen. Go straight down and take the chest with “Chewy Bread” and then left to get the red berry on the ground which is a “Snowberry”.
Continue down under the canopy of trees and follow the right path to a chest with “Honey Soda” and take the blue crystalled “Marble Chit”. Now walk straight up the middle of the sandy path to reach a chest containing “500 Silver Keys”. Go all the way down and enter the next screen. Continue to go straight down and take a “Nimbusbloom” from the hidden area to the right. Return and walk up on the right to reach a plateau with two chests. You will get “200 Silver Keys” and a “Chocolate Tea”. Go back down and take the “Graverot” mushrooms below the tree with red berries and above the one with yellow berries.
Walk all the way to the right, ignoring the bridge and walk up the second sandy area besides the tree trunks (see picture of walkthrough). You have to walk all the way up there to the next screen. Take the leaves on the ground to your left to get a “Hiverleaf”. If you still remember what the sign at the beginning said, then you know what awaits you now. Yes, you have to fight against the “Bandit Chief” accompanied by two monsters. The fight isn't too hard and you will receive a “Warrior Bracelet” as drop. Get rid of the two pests before you take care of the bandit as they are easier to kill but deal more damage. Open the chest for a “Magic Key” that you will need later to progress with the story.
Ignore this paragraph if you want to continue without delay. I would recommend you earn an additional “5,000 Silver Keys” by defeating the “Bandit Chief” and the two monsters again (leaving and entering the screen again) and buy the best equipment in Omber for all of your characters. They drop “1080 Silver Keys” each time and there is also the slight possibility to earn more “Warrior Bracelets” as rewards. That way you should also be able to buy a “Lightning Spear” for the character that will join you soon.
Return to the bridge all the way to the right by following the instructions above if you bought equipment in Omber or just return all the way down in the previous screen if you didn't. Take the bridge down and there is a chest with “35 Silver Keys” to your left under the tree. Continue to go down over the next bridge and follow the path to the left. The small sandy patch beside the tree trunks leads to a chest above that contains a “Guard up” and the sandy path to the left leads down to the next screen.
In this screen you have to jump over those boulders to the next island below. So, press enter or space while facing them and keep doing that whenever I instruct you to jump over boulders. Now you can only go to the right over those boulders to the next island. If you walk a bit to the right, you can see leaves on the ground to your right as well as below. Those leaves indicate that you can jump a greater distance to the next island, so stand next to the leaves (not on top of them) and jump over to the island below.
Jump over to the island on your left and follow the path to the end for a chest. You will receive “100 Silver Keys” and can see a chest on another island. We will get to it very soon as you can't reach it from where you are right now. Walk back on the path and jump over to the previous island again. Follow the path down to the end and take the chest containing a “Spicy Cheese” on your way. You will reach the other chest we saw before at the end of the path. It has “200 Silver Keys” in it. Now return all the way back again and jump over to the island above as soon as you can.
Jump over to the right and immediately down to take a chest with a “Medishroom”. Return and continue on the path above, going underneath the canopy and left. You have to jump to the island below as you can't go left there and it's the same for the next island. So continue to jump down and turn left. The next island is once more below you and you have to keep down on the left side to jump over to the chest on the right. Take it for another “Medishroom” and jump back to continue down on the right side. There is another boulder you need to jump over. Take the chest to your right for a “Spicy Cheese” and walk left underneath the canopy to leave “Dustyshade Road”.

Monteblancs Mission
- You have to walk all the way down in this and the next screen as well.
- Continue down the stairs and all the way to the right.
- Ignore the bridge and walk up at the second (bigger) sandy area (see walkthrough picture).
- You have to defeat the “Bandit Chief” and two monsters in the next screen above.
- Take the “Magic Key” from the chest guarded by the bandit.
- Return to the previous screen and all the way down over the two bridges.
- Follow the path to the left and turn down to the next screen at the end.
- Press enter while facing the boulders below to jump over them to the next island.
- Turn right, jumping over those boulders and continue to the right.
- Stand next to the leaves (not on top) to the right and jump over to the next island.
- Jump over the gap to the next island above and follow the path there.
- Going underneath the canopy, to the left and jumping to the island below.
- Continue to the island further down and turn left there.
- Jump to the island below and continue down on the right side to the next island.
- Walk to the left underneath the canopy and leave the area.
Sharona
Quests:
- Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House (Side Quest)
- Cover to Cover (Side Quest)
- Raising Spirits (Side Quest)
- Monteblancs Mission (Main Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- Black Bishop
- Black Knight (Orchard House)
- White Pawn (Orchard House)
- White Rook
- White Pawn (Farmhouse)
- Lake for replenishing your health ← NO ITEM
- Black Pawn
- White King
- Black Pawn

Enter “Sharona” below and we will explore it before we continue with the story. First of all walk to the left and up to take a “Black Bishop” from the scarecrow to the right. We will ignore that house for now as the story will be progressed there. Return to the main path and enter the house (“Orchard House”) to your right. The flower picture on the wall hides a “Black Knight” and there is a “White Pawn” inside the lower barrel above (yellow fruits). Leave the house and walk up to the house above.
You can either take the main path for that or walking up on the right side of the house. There is an old lady selling goods on the main path and a sheep we met in Hauntsburreigh who is trying to throw us off of the planned conspiracy. Don't enter the house yet but talk to the guy on the roof first as he is the “Contractor” we need for the quest “Our House Is a Very Very Very Fine House”. If the guy is not there, it means you didn't receive the quest in “Bower's Creek”. There is also a “White Rook” in the well beside the house.
Now enter the house (“Farmhouse”) and take a “White Pawn” from the mirror above. The chest in the upper part of the house is locked but you will be able to unlock it later. The guy on the right will give us the quest “Cover to Cover” for which we need to return to “Bower's Creek” but we have business there anyway. Leave the house and refresh yourself at the sparkling spot at the lake before taking a “Black Pawn” from the tree trunk behind the house. Approach the grave to the left and talk to the ghost that appears. He gives us the quest “Raising Spirits” and a hint where to find his treasures. We will get them on the way towards completing other quests.
You should see a hole on the other side of the house, so go around the house and take a “White King” out of it. There is also a “Black Pawn” hiding in the lower left flower in the field. With this we should have “16 Black Chess Pieces” and “16 White Chess Pieces” now but I will complete the Quest “A Game of Skill and Strategy” in Bower's Creek (Ethereal Chamber) later on.
There is no need to enter the house here but if you do, you will find four treasure chests with images on them (ring, brooch, watch and medal). You can't open them but this is an indication for the items you need for the quest “Raising Spirits”. If you find the corresponding items, DON'T TRY TO OPEN THE CHESTS with them. I tried to do that in my first play but nothing happened and I lost the items for the ghost, so I couldn't complete the quest. Go back to the first house (Small Shack) on the left that is fenced in and SAVE the game before entering it.
Walk down the stairs on the right and approach the blue crystal and the leaves for some information. You will receive some more information from the book case and the book on the table. Pick up the necklace and approach the book again. If you pick up the necklace before you get to the book on the table, you will immediately enter the book. Either way works fine but I really recommend to SAVE the game before entering the book. Once you are inside the book, you won't be able to leave it for some time.

Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House
- Walk up to the second house on the right and talk to the guy on the roof.
- With this you have the contractor and need to return to Bower's Creek.

Monteblancs Mission
- Enter the fenced off house on the left and go downstairs.
- Get the information from the blue crystal, the leaves, book case and book on the table.
- Take the necklace and enter the book on the table.

A Game of Skill and Strategy
- 4 White Chess Pieces (2 White Pawn, 1 White Rook, 1 White King)
- 4 Black Chess Pieces (1 Black Bishop, 1 Black Knight, 2 Black Pawn)
- Complete the Quest in Bower's Creek (Ethereal Chamber).

Items found:
- Life up
- 250 Silver Keys
- Speed up
- Holy Water
- 50 Silver Keys
- Chocolate Tea
- Crystal Shard
- Crystal Shard
- Crystal Shard
- Crystal Key (fusion of the 4 Crystal Shards)
- Spicy Cheese (Cave)
- Minty Cola (Cave)
- 115 Silver Keys (Cave)
- Honey Soda (Cave)
- Fairy Shoes (Cave – drop from the Sentinel of Veil named Insanity)
- Mind up (Cave – drop from the Sentinel of Veil named Insanity)
- Power up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)
- Guard up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)
- Mana up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)
- Mind up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)
- Life up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)
- Speed up (Sharona – drop from Janis, Madon and Gaga)

In my case there was a bug. Therefore I was able to enter the cave below me right away by walking down. You will miss a few items though and you won't be able to return there once you have your last party member join you. Still, feel free to do so to avoid unnecessary fights as the monsters here are stronger than the monsters before. Also make sure that you have a decent amount of healing items and the best equipment as you will really need them. Luckily though, they won't revive once you killed them and leave a screen.
If you didn't make use of the bug, then prioritize killing the Goblins first as they are able to reduce your attack power to 1/3 or 1/4. Go up and take a chest containing “250 Silver Keys” before you follow the path to the right to a chest with a “Life up” and return to the intersection again. Take the left path now and follow it all the way to the right to get a chest with a “Speed up” in it. Return and take the path upwards to enter the cave.
There are spikes blocking your path to the right, so follow the left path and take the chest to the right at the next intersection. It contains a “Holy Water” and there is also a chest with “50 Silver Keys" on the path to the left. Now go down and left at the intersection to reach the pentagram and Xuxa, your last party member. You need to free her by finding the missing Crystal Shards. The spikes to the right have been lowered, so you can enter that area now.
Keep following the path and take the chest with a “Chocolate Tea” on the way. The path splits and you will find your second “Crystal Shard” to the right as you got the first one from Xuxa. Go back and continue on the upper path to find the other two “Crystal Shards”. One is to the left at the next intersection and the last one is on the path below. Once you found all of them, they will fuse into the “Crystal Key” and with this you can finally free Xuxa. So return all the way back to the pentagram to deactivate it and talk to Xuxa. Equip her with the best equipment you have right now as she is pretty weak compared to your other characters but she is the only one who has healing skills.
You have to leave the cave and once outside, you will notice that a lot has changed. Follow the path up, enter the cave to activate a switch and do the same in the next cave to the left. You can find the next cave to the upper right where you will also get a chest with a “Spicy Cheese” and the next switch. The last switch is in the cave to the lower right and there is also a chest containing a “Minty Cola”.
If you activated all the switches, the spikes should be lowered now and you can follow the right path. Enter the cave on the path below to take “115 Silver Keys” and a “Honey Soda” from two chests. Go back to follow the upper path now and keep to the upper path until you reach two bridges. Take the bridge to the right and enter the cave at the end. Prepare for a boss fight against the "Sentinel of the Veil" named Insanity.
This fight shouldn't be too bad even if you don't use any skills. Just keep an eye out for your party members' health. After you defeat him, you will receive “Fairy Shoes” and a “Mind up” as drops. Finally, you can leave the book as soon as you enter the door above. Although, I suggest you take all of the items as described above because you won't be able to return here again. Unfortunately, the fight isn't over just yet because you will enter another fight as soon as you leave the burning house.
You will have to fight “Axel's Bimbo Squad” that you met before in Omber during the party. Focus your attacks on Gaga first as she is the healer of the party and defeating her will make it a lot easier to take care of the other two. Madon is able to cast spells that damage your entire party while Janis can lower your attack power considerably. Preferably, you should take care of Janis next before getting rid of Madon. They will drop a “Power up”, “Guard up”, “Mana up”, “Mind up”, “Life up” and “Speed up”. Now you have to return to Grimm Manor for the next part.

Monteblancs Mission
- Make use of the bug and walk straight down to enter the cave.
- Follow the path to the left and down and click enter on the pentagram.
- Backtrack and follow the right path now that the spikes have lowered.
- Take the Crystal Shards whenever the path splits until they fuse into the Crystal Key.
- Return all the way to the pentagram again to deactivate it and talk to Xuxa.
- Leave the cave again and follow the path up to another cave.
- Activate the switch inside and do the same in the next cave to the left.
- The next two caves with switches are to the upper right and all the way to the right.
- Continue on the right path after the spikes are lowered.
- Go upwards at the next intersection and follow that path.
- Keep following the upper path until you reach two bridges.
- Take the bridge to the right and enter the cave at the end.
- Defeat the Sentinel of the Veil named Insanity and leave through the door.
- Leave the house and defeat Janis, Madon and Gaga.
- Return to Grimm Manor for the next part.
Miscellaneous (Dustyshade Road, Drakkenspire Range, Hauntsburreigh, Bower's Creek)
Quests:
- Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House (Side Quest)
- Cover to Cover (Side Quest)
- Raising Spirits (Side Quest)
- Monteblancs Mission (Main Quest)
- A Game of Skill and Strategy (Side Quest)

Items found:
- Grandfather's Medal (Dustyshade Road – Bandit Camp)
- Grandmother's Brooch (Dustyshade Road)
- Mother's Ring (Drakkenspire Range)
- Arctic Humour (Skill – Hauntsburreigh – Store)
- Rainmaker's Stone (Skill – Hauntsburreigh – Store)
- EITHER 5 Honey Sodas (Bower's Creek – Ethereal Chamber – Pale Horseman (left) → reward for the quest “A Game of Skill and Strategy”)
- OR 5 Dr. Volgin's Specifics (Bower's Creek – Ethereal Chamber – Man of Wealth and Taste (right) → reward for the quest “A Game of Skill and Strategy”)
- Grey Crest (Bower's Creek – reward for the quest “Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House”)

In this part we will gain progress with and finish a few of our quests. First of all, please DON'T put any of the relevant items for the quest “Raising Spirits” into the chests in Sharona. I lost my items and COULDN'T complete the quest as already mentioned above.
In case you need to heal yourself, approach the lake in Sharona. Leave the town and enter Dustyshade Road to get the “Grandfather's Medal”. It is in the new chest in the Bandit Camp (see walkthrough picture) near the second bridge in the second screen (coming from Sharona). Leave the Bandit Camp and walk up the path between the trees to your left. You will find a chest containing the “Grandmother's Brooch”.
Now you can either backtrack towards Sharona and use the “Pass through” option to reach the other side near Omber or you continue to walk through Dustyshade Road. Either way is fine but you might want to level Xuxa a bit more. If you didn't buy the best equipment in Omber yet, now would be a good time to do so. Otherwise either pass right through the Drakkenspire Range and enter it again from the Grimm Manor side or enter it and walk to the last screen (first screen from the Grimm Manor side).
There is a new chest on the plateau all the way to the upper left. You have to circle around, taking the sandy way to your right and up (not the stairs to the right) and follow that path to the left. The chest on the furthest left side contains the “Mother's Ring” you need. Now we are only missing one more item for this quest but we will get it in a later section.
Leave the Drakkenspire Range towards the Grimm Manor's side and enter Hauntsburreigh above. You should have enough ingredients for the skills “Arctic Humour” and “Rainmaker's Stone” for Nicholas, so let's get them from the Store (first house). We can gain progress with the three other quests in Bowers Creek. Therefore leave Hauntsburreigh and enter Bowers Creek on the lower left (sea below and mountains above and left).
Enter the house (Ethereal Chamber) in the lowest part of town and talk to either one of the two people inside as you should have all 32 Chess Pieces and can finish the quest “A Game of Skill and Strategy”. The guy on the left (Pale Horseman) wants the white Chess Pieces and in return you will get “5 Honey Sodas”. The guy on the right (Man of Wealth and Taste) wants the black Chess Pieces and will give you “5 Dr. Volgin's Specifics”. Unfortunately, you can't have both and I don't know what the rewards for only one complete set of either white or black Chess Pieces is. If you know and comment below, I will gladly add the information and credit you for it.
Leave the house and enter the Mayor's House to the right with a sign in front. You need to talk to the Mayor twice. The result is unsatisfactory as the Mayor just goes *poof* you still need to continue the quest “Cover to Cover” in Sharona. Well, let's leave the house again and move up on the right side to the damaged house with lots of people in front. Talk to the father in the middle (lowest person) and receive “Grey Crest” as a reward for finishing the quest “Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House”.

Raising Spirits
- Enter Dustyshade Road and get the Grandfather's Medal from the new chest in the Bandit Camp (see walkthrough picture).
- Leave the Bandit Camp and walk up the next path between the trees to your left.
- Take the Grandmother's Brooch from the chest and leave Dustyshade Road.
- Walk back to Sharona to use the “Pass through” option at Dustyshade Road.
- You need to get to the Drakkenspire Range and use the “Pass through” option there.
- Enter the Drakkenspire Range again from the Grimm Manor side.
- Follow the sandy path to the upper right and circle around to the leftmost side for a chest.
- Open the chest to receive the Mother's Ring.

A Game of Skill and Strategy
- Go to Bower's Creek and enter the house (Ethereal Chamber) on the lowest part of town.
- Talk to EITHER the Pale Horseman for 5 Honey Sodas OR the Man of Wealth and Taste for 5 Volgin's Specifics to finish the quest.

Cover to Cover
- Enter the Mayor's House on the lowest right in Bower's Creek and talk twice to the Mayor.
- We need to talk to Dr. Imren in Sharona again.

Our House Is A Very Very Very Fine House
Talk to the father in the middle in front of the damaged house to finish the quest and get Grey Crest as reward.

Oh I see....Thx anyway~

I didn't play it much further than my guide but I don't mind playing it again and finishing the guide. As far as I know there isn't all that much left now because it isn't a finished/completed game.
1953994052 25 Jul, 2021 @ 3:07am
hey, will you update this guide?
I like it and it's really useful to me.
RayHiwatari  [author] 7 Jun, 2019 @ 5:44pm
Yeah, I know that I quit too easily at times if I get stuck but that wasn't what I meant with "stupid". I seem to have the rare talent to get myself into situations without a way out of them when I explore everything. The best examples would be rpg maker games with air ships and walking simulators. For some reason I landed at least twice in places I couldn't access the air ship anymore but already overwrote my save game or walked through a wall and got stuck in a loop falling down. I know those are bugs to a certain extent or the game wasn't tested enough but I am able to get in situations like this and that's what I meant with me being "stupid". Also I have slow reactions, so I prefer games with turn based combat and NO quick time events or an attack bar for which you have to get the right timing for the attack.
If I know I can finish it, I will return to a game after a while and as for boss fights that are too hard for me, I will grind and don't mind grinding for quite a while.
Revenger23 7 Jun, 2019 @ 5:22pm
"Stupid" is a Hard Word to choose maybe you Rage Quit to fast :) I do that really often and than I come back and try it over and over till I beat the Boss or the Part of the Game where I got stuck.
RayHiwatari  [author] 7 Jun, 2019 @ 5:12pm
Yeah, it's exactly like that for me as well. Unfortunately, I get easily distracted if I am not all that interested in the game, lost interest in it or found one I think is more interesting at that moment. However, I will eventually get back to most of my games again and finish them but that can take quite a while. Although I won't "fight" a futile battle with a game if I know I am not able to get past a certain obstacle (i. e. boss fight or game mechanics) as I consider myself to be a "stupid" player because I am not good at all.

Same here I don´t like to rush through a Game, I explore every little corner even if I know there is nothing to see or find :D The Main Reason that I used your Guide was because I wanted to find all the Chess Pieces ^^ and I know what you mean by getting distracted but since a little while I only concentrate on one Game and finish it and than move on to the next :)

I completely understand that as I am the same for things I know I can and am able to finish. I also want to explore everything in a game if I like it even if there is no point in that. The main reason why I started this guide was because I couldn't find a complete list of all the chess pieces and I desperately searched for them.
I hope you will find everything you need and if not, I am willing to help as much as I can. However, I didn't finish the game myself yet because I got occupied with other games. :2016imnotcrying:

Sorry, it took me a bit to confirm with my notes as it was quite some time ago that I last played the game.

The ring is in the first screen of the Drakkenspire Range coming from the Grimm Manor side. It is far to the left but you have to walk in a circle from the right side.

The watch is in the Shadewood Glenn (forest to the left) to the left side in the first screen but you have to go to the second screen to gain access to that part as it is a hidden passage a bit down and left.
