Chapter 1
The purpose of being a stealth/split
The purpose of a stealth/split is to split from the group and find clues in another section of the map separate from the group's to speed up progression of the game, even if that means dying for the cause. If the main group finds 3 clues on the north side of the map and you find 3 on the south side, that's essentially 6 clues found in half the usual time. So even if the monster finds and kills you, you can rest easy knowing the rest of the gang will be well on it's way to beating the monster with only two clues left to find.

The stealth/split always dies
Need to get this out of the way. The stealth/split of the team will eventually be caught and die. It's very inevitable. You can do thing to slow down and counter your eventual death. You may even get good enough to survive until the end. But as the split, it's best to assume you will die, but hopefully not before you find a few clues.

Create your build
First thing you need to do is make a good stealth build. Sarah is perfect as a split build, but she has low speed. If you want to use Sarah and survive, pair her with a flashlight with a minimum 6 rating for speed or endurance. Choosing Sarah's "Racing Suit" skin doesn't hurt either as it boosts her endurance. This should be enough to survive a solo counter with the monster, but there is never any guarantee. You can use the jack-o'-lantern if you really want to boost your exploration to find clues, but you have to use it knowing you'll definitely be dead if the monster ever finds you.

How to start your split
To split from the group, first inform the group that you are splitting via text chat (press Y for text chat) or voice chat (should be on by default if you have a headset mic). If using text chat, typing "splitting" is usually enough for the group to understand what you are doing. And then turn off your flashlight and start walking in the opposite direction of the group's to avoid redundancy of finding the group's clues. Generally don't use your compass until after about 20 seconds after splitting from the group and be super paranoid of the monster when initially splitting.

Keep your flashlight off
This will help make you more invisible to the monster. Also, if you play as Sarah, having your flashlight off make you invisible to idols, including watcher idols. Sarah has no speed penalty for having her flashlight off either.

Avoid running
Monster can see through walls if you cause enough commotion. So walk slowly and with your flashlight off to prevent this.

Pay attention to the group's situation
Your teammates chat can help tell you if the monster is near them, which usually means the monster is not near you. It can give you a chance to relax and freely sprint for a little bit, knowing the monster is far away. Don't sprint too much just because you will need to save your stamina for when the monster does find you. If you see that someone is grabbed by monster, you know you can relax for a little knowing the monster is far away. If you notice two investigators are devoured, start working to find the other survivor. Don't leave him to die alone or monster will be on your trail next.

Check your surroundings
Check behind your back regularly for monster. Make wide turns around corners to check for monster. Make sure you still check both ways around corners and then check behind you one last time before moving on. Check left, check right, check behind. Be wary of hiding spots where the monster can pop out and grab. It never hurts to check your surroundings, especially in outdoor maps. Because if you find the monster before he wants you to, you could foil his plan and survive.

Listen for the monster
Being a high stealth character means you can better hear the monster when it's near. Also listen for the sounds of idols being created. Use the sound to figure out where the monster is and avoid running into him accordingly. Avoid running to make sure you stay invisible to monster's vision.

Keep an eye out for incense
Incense can be extremely helpful in surviving the monster. if you find any, don't hessitate to use it. If you don't know where the monster is, use incense and look around until you see the monster's outline. Bam! You know where the monster is now for a short amount of time and can now act to either evade or confront monster preemptively.

Tape camping
If you are near a clue and feel the monster is on your tracks, it could be beneficial to wait near a clue for the monster to find you. When you grab a tape or open a chest with a monster nearby, the monster will be banished and teleported away, thus saving your life. Use this to your advantage. While waiting for the monster, try to be huddled in a corner where you can better keep an eye on your surroundings. If not possible, just look left and right constantly to check for the monster. If the monster used an ability, don't grab the clue in a panick. Wait to spot the monster. If you spot the monster and he's within 25ft (8 meters), grab the clue and be rid of the monster. If you can't reach the clue without getting grabbed, turn your flashlight on to stun the monster before dashing to the clue. Be careful doing this with Olkoth since he turns flashlights off. One last word, if the monster is Astaroth, don't wait to spot him and just grab the clue as soon as possible. Astaroth's breakdown can render it impossible to grab the clue and force you to run into him.

Plan on finding the group near the end
When all 8 clues are found, everyone on the map is made visible to the monster. He can see you from 3 miles away. This is bad for a stealth/split. So make sure you find the group before all the clues are found. When you get down to about 2 clues is when you want to start focusing on refinding the group. There are a few ways to do this.

One way is when someone in their group is caught by the monster. Look around you for a distant red outline of the investigator who was caught. Use that outline to start calmly heading back towards the group.

Another way is to shout. Someone should shout back to you, giving you an outline of that investigator. Use that outline to start heading back to the group. Be careful though since shouting won't work if you are too far from the group. Click your flashlight on and off as you get closer. The clicking can signal your location through both its sound and lighting on the floor/ground.

Camp at a nearby tape is another way as well. The other investigators should eventually find the clue you are hiding at along with you there waiting. And if monster finds you while you are waiting, just grab the clue to banish him and find another way to get reunited with the group.

If all clues are found before you find the group, head towards the sigils for the time being and shout for help. If someone shouts back, drop everything and find them immediately and fast.

Additional tips
Stealth/split loves indoor maps. If you are a stealth/split, indoor maps are perfect for you because it is much easier to avoid being seen or caught with so many walls up to hide your location.

@DamphirBlue Plus if you get attacked, a medkit can't save your booty cheeks unlike a flashbang can. Medkits are pretty much the better option only when you know that you won't get attacked until you meet the group again.

You should always prioritize flashbangs over medkits when you are split. Medkits are useless if you die before you meet the group again.

1.Split after 1st encounter. Even better to take the first grab if the situation is not good,so u dont have to choose from medkits and flashbang.
2.Better not split on the corner of the map, for creature can only attack from behind or ahead ur team.
3.Do stick to the egde of the map, that should avoid many possible encounters.
4.Use as few item as possible,u need every second before encounter to find clues.
5.Use no statue alone the way, if u dont have a death wish so bad.
6.Do know when ur marked(heavy breathing and heartbeat)
7.Stay away from the crowd, its only normal if u cant find many clues alone. U have to be alive to find clues.

Thats only something i found important for split.
And to be honest, u never know when and where if ur route is gonna meet with ur team. So its only normal if u find this tatic suck.

:steamsad: Not recommanded. :steamsad:

My Sarah so far: 425 games played, 240 games won, 1666 clue found.

Only about two hours, but I just figured this would be an easy quick guide to find. From what i've heard, people have trouble finding info on being a split.
