Basics and persuasive techniques
Alright you might think you know the basics , and how to avoid a scammer or so (if not scroll to bottom to see my tutorial on how to avoid scammers) . The most basic reason most people trade is to get things that they can't usually buy , eg: someone wants a specific skin , but if he sells his he wont be able to afford it because of steam tax , this type of people are usually the ones you wanna search for as they will overpay , a profitable trade is made when you get overpay and you can get your things back via cs.money

You can't simply send an offer and expect someone to accept it, and wonder why they haven't accepted it - you have to persuade the person and get his interest into trading with you;
Try to gain the person's interest by talking about how good it looks, the float, and how the stickers fit it so well (practise makes perfect, but here is an example);

Don't be sad if the person is not interested, because at the end of the day, you can always find someone else interested
Profit , cs.money , and the road to knife!

It is not reccomended to use the market prices for price check since they are unstable, and usually change a lot — the best example would be PP-bizon blue streak Stat Trak, its prices are extremely unstable, use steam analyst or cs.money to check the average price of the skin, (I would reccomend using cs.money over steam analyst simple because you can trade your items on cs.money and get your stuff back, but steam analyst just analyses the average prices, average prices on both sides differ, so be careful

calculate the price that you are receiving and giving to find the profit, to do so you must search for the skins you are getting from cs.money, and search the skins you are giving, then use the following formula :

Profit? = Total price of items you give - total price of items you get (cs.money prices)

the rest is obvious, if its negative - you loose .. if its positive - you profit

Downgrade for more money, and upgrade for less

now this is what most people do, lets say they have an item worth 10$, and the person interested in the skin has 5 items worth 2$ and 1 worth 0.10$, what you want to do is ask overpay for downgrade

here are 3 golden rules you have to keep in mind when using cs.money
1) ALWAYS UPGRADE on cs.money ,
2)NEVER downgrade on cs.money
3) At all coss, AVOID stat track knives

floats , patterns , and how to inspect skins from mobile without going in-game
No, i am not exadurating! you can actually inspect your skin from your phone [/b], use this website: metjm.net

An example of a skin inspect in metjm is http://s.metjm.net/l3yuf2l.jpg

using this site , not only can you view the skin , but you can also view its float value and pattern

After 3 years of service metjm no longer works and instead you can use this alternative;

-------------------------------- float values -----------------------------
floats indicate how worn is the weapon , the higher the float , the more worn the skin looks, here are the float values explained :

The closer the float value is to being 0 , the less worn the skin looks
floats:

Battle-Scared : 1—> 0.6 float = bad , 0.55—> 0.45 float = good float for a battle scarred skin

Well-Worn: 0.44—>0.40 float = bad, 0.39—>0.38 float = good float for well worn skin

Field-Tested : 0.37—> 0.23 float = bad , 0.22—>0.15 = good float for field tested skin

Minimal-wear: 0.14—>0.10 float = bad , 0.09—> 0.07 = good float for minimal wear skin

Factory-New: dont bother unless its a knife or an m4 , they all look good

here is an example of a battle scarred skin with good float:

...and a well worn skin with a horrible float :

(A better example) Battle scarred skin with >0.9 float

Scammers — Your worst enemy
This is very important if you want to go from nothing to knife , you need to know scammers and their techniques , the easiest way to know if someone is a scammer is by seeing how desperate they are ....

if someone adds you , and proposes a deal that seems to good to be true , it usually is
NEVER send your items first if someone claims he wants to "buy your skins" , or claims to be an admin of a gambling website , Dont trust anyone and any website no matter how good it seems if it asks you to deposit first

now i know some of you will be like " but Op skins is legit , and Bit skins too" ,
- I am not going to argue and simpy agree with you , but some people have made fake websites claiming to be opskins , these sites usually have weird domains like .is and .ae

If you wanna learn more about scammers and methods they use , visit a guide made by vault :

There is a difference between scammers and sharks, sharks try to deceive you into thinking your item is worth waaay less than it actually is, a good example;

Stickers and nametags ... what is worth overpay?
Usually people ask overpay for sticker , but should you overpay?

the answer is yes...and no , it actually depends on the sticker — if a sticker is a katowice 2014 , or worth more than 10$ , then its worth the overpay , but how much ?

to calculate overpay that you should give for a non katowice sticker which is worth than 10$ is as so :
—>3% the sticker price + total price of the skin

to calculate a non holo katowice sticker overpay use the following formula =
—> 5% the sticker price + total price of the skin

to calculate the holo katowice sticker overpay ,use this:
—> 6% the sticker total pricem+total price of the skin

for other stickers not worth more than 10$ , simply don't consider the value (don't overpay unless its holo or foil , if it is, overpay maximum by 0.05$

Do not consider the sticker value if the sticker is scraped , even if its katowice , the price is voided even if its scraped once!

and finally , nametags , now this may be contrivertial to some of you , but i am going to say it , overpay for nametags depends on you , if you like the nametag , you can overpay , if you don't , there is no need for overpay , just don't overpay more than 0.10$ for a nametag, above that is too much
Key trading
This is most of the most common type of trading in high tier trades, it works in many ways, but I would elaborate further on my favourite and by far the easiest method of profit with them. Asking 85% quicksell with keys and then (once they get the 85% qs) 90% SA for keys is really common in the trading community.

Most people with keys tend to ask 85%-88% SA, but what does it really mean?
->It means that the person you are trading with wants to offer 85% of the keys that SA values the item(s) at.
Let's say someone has a falchion stained factory new that the person is unable to trade, so he is interested in quickselling his knife, the formula for the amount of keys that you should give him would be
(The item's value in keys SA x 0.85 = the amount of keys you should give)

Now just because it is the most common method, doesn't mean it is the only method; there are other ways to trade too
-> Asking 85% market price quicksell for keys, these people usually just sell the items they get on the market and buy keys in-game for cheap

->Buying sapphires/rubies (dopplers) or blue gems ot katowice 2014 (sticked) for 90% of their value, and attempting to sell them at full price (by far the hardest and slowest method)

->(And my favourite one) asking about 0.05$ overpay for each key by cs.money prices (both from bot's side) this is really effective since the person is unable to get the key(s) from cs.money unless he overpays about 0.15$ for each to the bot, so not only does the person end up saving about 0.1$, but they also get what they want.

Notice;
Not all keys are easy to trade, Hydra Case keys/ (default) csgo case keys/ Esports / Capsule keys do not go for quicksells as people usually don't accept them and capsule keys aren’t accepted at all!
And at last
PLEASE , and i say PLEASE dont be that one cancerous trader who lowballs

lowballs are people who underpay for skins by like 10$ and expect you to accept the offer , if you are going to be such a trader , you will get blocked by others

We hope our guide has helped you be a better trader, or has helped you reach towards your goal.

and where do you go to find trade offers?
Vova2k  [author] 7 Apr, 2021 @ 7:08pm
Somewhat, I recently came back and I'm doing somewhat well - though instead of cs.money I use steam analyst for prices
Saint Sullivan 7 Apr, 2021 @ 4:35pm
is this still feasible in 2021?

Trading isn't dead, it's slowed down but if you have a lot of items to trade you will barely feel it
