Since it's been well over 3 years since I played, I unfortunately only remember the broad strokes. I'll try my best to help.
If you haven't already you can try double check you got all the previous steps done in the right order so you have the required event flags - it's trying to be a 'your character should have a reason to do it' kind of game. I'd advise staggering your saves too if you're not already doing that as the missing flag can be surprisingly far back.
And sometimes with the word underlining... it can boil down the game just being annoyingly finicky and refusing to recognize that you're underlining the right thing. When it happened to me (with a different word) I "fixed it" through sheer stubbornness: randomly playing with the settings and keeping on trying to underline it until it eventually worked.
This guide is definitely a 5-star walkthrough. I only use it when I've been stuck for a very long time. And the table of contents with the quick links ensures I can quickly find the section I need and avoid accidentally hitting spoilers.
And yes, this guide was written for those that want to 100% the game in a single run. Might be other ways to do it all in one go, but I don't know about them. I found several differnt orders to do things and finish the game, but in those I'd miss out of some secrets.
The game logs event flags as you do things and tries to sort of simulate time passing - for example, you can go to the cabin later when the meeting is over but that triggers different flags, changing how other events play out (or don't) in afterward.
I'm stuck on the briefcase. I've followed the walkthrough step-by-step and verified I've done everything correctly. However, when I zoom close to the briefcase lock and click on the lock nothing happens. No comments from Howard.
Does this game require all the specific steps be done in the exact order provided in this walkthrough? Because I did find some of the clues in a slightly different order than this walkthrough.
Any help getting un-stuck will be very much appreciated.
Bad description. I walked all the way down and reached the man in the shadows immediately which leads to forced cabin leave without any examinations. Better description would be closed door instead of locked door and the doorway is to the RIGHT, not left.
and thanks for the guide btw
