April 7th 2020 update (v0.95: The Public Beta Update)

PikuNiku is now officially finished! All that needs to be done now is some final balancing and they will finally be 100% complete!

Update: 4 Apr, 2020 @ 1:31pm

4/4/2020 Update: (v0.9; So Close, but yet not Quite Done)

Work has been started on duo down special, but I need someone to help me to actually get it working. Once that's finished, PikuNiku will finally be open for public beta testing.

Additional Notes:

+ Forward Strong has been given more range

Update: 28 Mar, 2020 @ 8:31pm

3/28/2020 Update (v0.85; The Final Stretch, For Real this Time)

Update: 24 Mar, 2020 @ 11:12pm

3/25/2020 Update (v0.8: The Final Stretch)

There is only one more attack left to add in, and it's duo down special, and then PikuNiku will finally be complete.

Additional Notes:

~ Duo Side Special has been added in

Update: 22 Mar, 2020 @ 3:23pm

(v0.75: The Copycat Update)

This update doesn't really add much, but it does get one other thing off the list of things needed to be done.

Additional Notes:

~ PikuNiku now has Kirby copy ability compatibility
~ All of the UI icons for the duo special attacks were added in, but duo forward special and duo down special are still not yet complete

Update: 21 Mar, 2020 @ 8:10pm

3/21/2020 Update: (v0.7: The End is Nigh)

PikuNiku is nearing completion. It won't be long now.

Additional Notes:

~ Duo Neutral Special is finished
~ Duo Side Special is being worked on, so excuse the missing sprites
~ The Fighting Wireframe alt was worked around for the sake of my sanity
~ A new alt has been added: ATLAS & P-body, the Co-Op duo from Portal 2

Update: 20 Mar, 2020 @ 10:19pm

(Ver 0.5; The Alpha Release)

The duo idea was scrapped for the sake of my sanity and my motivation.

3/17/2020 Update: (Ver 0.51; The Day One Alpha Patch)

After getting some feedback, Piku has been given some minor changes:
+ Up Special has more air control
+ Up Special’s final hitbox has been given a slight damage increase and increased knockback scaling
+ Up Strong’s initial hitbox has increased knockback scaling
+ Some other moves have been given a slight damage buff
+ Down tilt now pulls in rather than pushes away, making it a more viable combo tool
+ Grounded down special has been given more horizontal range
+ Back air’s startup duration is slightly decreased
+ Jab no longer incurs parry stun

- Down air can now be techable after getting hit by it once, making it less possible for players to spam it
- Down Special Air has been given more endlag to prevent spamming
- Down Special Ground has been given more endlag to prevent spamming

Additional Notes:

~ Fixed the highlights on the css portrait and result screen portrait

3/17/2020 Update 2: (Ver 0.53; The Day One Alpha Patch Part 2; Electric Boogaloo)

These balance suggestions were requested by ElemAngell:
+ Forward tilt has been given reduced end lag
+ Nair has been given reduced end lag

- Dair has received increased end lag
- Fair’s hitbox vertical height has been reduced
- Uair’s hitbox now only hits on top and the side instead of all around

3/19/2020 Update: (Ver 0.54; The Day Three Alpha Patch)

Some people on the Rivals Workshop Discord suggested me to make these changes;

+ Dair has been given more range
+ You can now wall jump out of side b
+ You can now wall jump out of up b
+ Uair has been given more knockback

Additional Notes:

~ Dair has been given more hitpause
~ Dair’s vfx and sfx have been changed
~ Up b’s final hit angle has been changed to 50 (was 90 previously)
~ Fixed the wave dash sound effect
~ Up b flipper has been changed to 3 (was 1 previously)

3/19/2020 Update 2: (Ver 0.6; The Rainbow Update)

This update was mainly done because of some balance changes that were requested by Trail Mix, the creator of Fry:

+ Weight decreased from 1.3 to 1.1
+ Pogo jump speed increased from 4 to 8
+ Aerial Nspecial hitbox size increased
+ Pratfall acceleration increased from 0.4 to 0.7
+ Jab startup decreased from 6 to 5
+ Dtilt is now three frames faster
+ Utilt startup decreased from 10 to 7
+ Dtilt knockback increased from 4 to 5
+ Uair startup decreased from 9 to 6
+ Uair can now actually juggle opponents
+ Nair knockback increased from 6 to 8 (and 4 to 5 for the sour spot)
+ Pretty much every other move received more base knockback

- Gravity speed reduced from 0.7 to 0.4
- Dair is now only able to initiate pogo jump once every time the player is in midair

Additional Notes:

~ The six main alts now work in game except for Fighting Wireframe, which will be done eventually
~ The smears on down air, uptilt, and forward tilt have been redone
~ Dtilt angle changed
~ Jab now sends up

3/21/2020 Update: (Ver 0.65; The Realization):

I realized now that PikuNiku doesn’t need to be a duo character. Niku can just show up for the duo special attacks and that’s it. Nothing else. I can’t believe I didn’t come to this conclusion sooner. I really am an idiot.

Additional Notes:

~ Made the intro animation
