New Features

  • The Tunnel and Hospital buildings have been modified so that they no longer give boosts to health and intrigue
    • Due to the fact that these bonuses could be stacked, it would jack with age/disease/schemes way too much
    • Now, if a ruler owns one of those buildings, they get a character modifier that grants the bonuses
    • These modifiers do not stack, so if you build 5 hospitals, you still only get one modifier
    • The intrigue modifiers do scale as you improved your Tunnel Network building, but the health boost from Hospitals does not scale
    • Modifiers transfer on succession, as long as your heir gets the holding with the building that grants the modifier
    • This also means if you grant away a province that has the building that is granting the modifiers, you will lose the modifiers and the new ruler will get the modifiers instead

  • New Game Rule COW3 Add Building Slots
    • Set to On by default: When you use the decision to add a COW building, it will add a building slot
    • If you set it to Off then the decision will not allow you to build any COW buildings if you don't have a holding with a free building slot and it will filter out any buildings and provinces that don't qualify per the rule
    • For example, if you have one province with mountains (but it doesn't have any empty building slots) and you have three holdings with forests (and they all have free buildings slots), you'd be able to take the decision and choose buildings that qualify for the forest holdings. But you wouldn't be able to choose to build a Tunnel Network because your only hill/mountain/desert mountain holding doesn't have any free building slots

New Features in 1.10.1 Release
  • 75 New 3d Models!
    • 63 New Models for Castle Levels 5, 6, and 7.
    • 10 New Models for Burge Walls at Castle and City Levels 6 and 7.
    • The Burge models that already existed have been reworked so that they look better and are more performant
  • Unique Special Buildings for every Level 5 Castle and City
    • When you build a Level 5 City or Castle, you will receive an event asking you which unique building your city possesses.⠀The building you choose will be built automatically along with your Burge and will occupy a common building slot, even though you can't build these buildings normally.
    • Don't worry, you also get an extra building slot so this building doesn't take up one of your limited spots.
  • Full integration of Sprawl
    • This replaces the limited implementation that was already present in Cities of Wonder 3
  • Some Special Building Models habe been moved slightly to avoid clipping with Burges, such as in Paris and London
  • Full code and 3D Model review to improve performance
    • Issues that created persistent issues in the error log have been addressed
    • Overall modsize has been reduced from 385mb to 235mb even with the addition of 75 new 3d models
    • Compatibility has been improved so that COW3 will now work with other building mods
      • Issues will remain if COW3 is used with other mods that edit the actual castle or city building
      • If another mod edits common buildings, special buildings, or adds new buildings, it should now work with COW3 just fine

Changes & Deprecated Features
  • Restoring ancient cities like Minoa on Krete or Carthage in Tunis
    • The code and 3d models I created for these mechanics was done early in my modding career. It was unstable and, to be frank, not very good. For now, it is easy to remove this altogether and add it back in later when I have the time to do it right.
  • Removal of Slavic Burges

  • Support for Sinews of War
    • Sinews of War is outdated and, currently, an update is not expected. If the mod is ever updated, I'll revisit adding compatibility back into COW3.
  • Removal of COW Unique Buildings
    • The unique common buildings caused incompatibility between COW3 and any other mod that adds new common buildings. This change means those incompatibilities no longer exist!

Fixed bug where London and Paris graphics disappeared if you upgraded to Castle Level 6.
