Vakna patch 1.5 - here we go again

Dattack:
-Startup increased from 7 frames to 9 frames
-Endlag increased from 18(27) frames to 20(30) frames

Dstrong:
-Final hit angle changed from 40 to 45

Uspecial:
~Ledge forgiveness altered to be slightly more strict
~Ledge forgiveness no longer works when moving downward

Dspecial:
+Air version's physical hitbox hit lockout increased from 15 frames to 20 frames
-Air version's projectile now gets destroyed on parry properly (the same also applies to the projectile you get from using Ftilt or Dattack on the Magma Pocket)

Dspecial 2:
-Physical crash hitbox knockback angle changed from 361 to 45
~Spike pocket detection threshold increased slightly (should make it more consistent to use overall)

Update: 29 Aug, 2024 @ 9:09pm

v1.45 -- Oops, all Up Special!

+Uspecial projectile lifetime increased from 12 to 16
+Uspecial projectile knockback scaling increased from 0.5 to 0.65
+Uspecial projectile hitpause scaling increased from 0 to 0.6
+Uspecial now has ledge forgiveness code

Update: 14 Aug, 2024 @ 9:14am

Patch 1.45: Some course correction was needed

BAIR
+Reverted angle change: 45 -> 361
(This was a bit too harsh as Vakna players noted that killing with Bair was more awkward than was it was previously. Reverting the angle change should make that a bit more rewarding to land.)

UAIR
+Reverted kb scaling change on tipper: 0.95 -> 1
(Players noted that the base knockback change was enough, and that the scaling change was a little bit too harsh.)

USPECIAL
+Reverted hitstun multiplier change: 0.8x -> 1x
+Hitbox size increased: 46x46 -> 54x54
(Uspecial's projectile is a pretty niche tool -- and so players noted that it did not need this nerf. In addition, increasing the size of the hitbox will help players get the respective puddle detonation a little easier.)

FSTRONG
+Angle decreased: 45 -> 361
(This move barely sees much play in normal matches due to its long startup, not great range, and less-than-desirable angle. We're buffing it to make it a bit stronger for parry punishes and other confirms.)

Update: 13 Aug, 2024 @ 11:24pm

Patch 1.4: Some much needed tweaks
BUGFIXES
~Fixed a bug where having an Infernal Hand projectile out would create errors in the error log.
~Fixed a bug where the Infernal Hand projectile would still create a Magma Pocket even if it was parried.
~Fixed a bug where Dspecial Air would create an Infernal Hand projectile even if the physical hitbox was parried.
~Fixed a issue where Dspecial 2 spikes would crash the game if they detected a solid ground object that no longer existed.
~Fixed an issue where fireballs would not retain their parried status when being empowered by a Magma Pocket.
(Oops.)

MAGMA POCKET
~Magma Pocket no longer triggers when an opponent is tumbling.
~Magma Pocket detonation (interception in hitstun) is now cut short and forced into the death sequence whenever an opponent is galaxied.
(Opponents felt a little cheated out of their kills against Vakna when the Magma Pocket would intercept him during a galaxy (sometimes), cancelling the galaxy and interrupting their hard-earned progress. This reins in that functionality and makes the interception detonation a little stricter.)

NAIR:
~Active window shortened: 9f -> 6f
(Nair is by far the strongest tool in Vakna's kit. It is the glue that holds his gameplan together, which is why we've brought in the acetone. This should make players throw out Nair a little bit more deliberately while shortening the time it takes to hit behind him.)

UAIR
-Sour hit KB decreased: 8 + 0.8 -> 7 + 0.8
-Tipper KB decreased: 9 + 1 -> 8 + 0.95
+Hitstun multiplier increased: 0.9x -> 1x
(Uair was also a notoriously powerful move with Fair -> Uair and Dstrong/Bair -> pocket hitstun detonation -> Uair being two extremely strong confirms. This makes Uair a little bit less of a warcrime in the air while also being slightly more viable for combos.)

BAIR
-Sour hit KB decreased: 8 + .75 -> 7 + 0.75
-Angle of both hitboxes changed: 361 -> 45
(Bair was also a warcrime. Raising the angle and cutting the sour hit's knockback should make this move a little bit less punishing to DI.)

DAIR
+Tipper KB increased: 6 + 0.7 -> 6 + 0.85
(The tipper on this move felt like it didn't combo super well but also didn't kill super well either. So we decided to lean more into it killing.)

DSTRONG
-Endlag increased: 18f -> 21f
(This move felt a little bit too safe to throw out. Increasing the endlag here should help opponents punish unsafe usage of this move a little bit better.)

USTRONG
-KB decreased: 8 + 1.2 -> 8 + 1.15
(Again, a warcrime of a move. Fair -> Ustrong being one of his best kill confirms makes this move much better than we initially thought on launch.)

NSPECIAL
-Fireballs now have Mollo bomb behavior (initial motion towards Vakna's current position) when parried.
(Parry behavior for Vakna's fireballs has been an issue for quite some time as they don't give opponents a super fair shot at launching them back towards Vakna (except in some niche scenarios). This should make parrying it much more rewarding.)

USPECIAL
-Projectile hitstun multiplier decreased: 1x -> 0.8x
(Oops x2)

DSPECIAL
-All detonation hitboxes (geyser, dspecial 2, interruption) now do not reflect when parried.
(Oops x3)

DSPECIAL AIR
-Palm hitbox kb adjusted: 7 + 0.8 -> 6 + 0.85
-Palm hitbox angle decreased: 285 -> 275
-Infernal Hand projectile hitstun multiplier reduced: 1x -> 0.8x
(Opponents frequently noted that it was hard to tech the wall against Dspecial Air's melee hitbox, making it very strong. And that's because it was impossible. We decided to make it less horizontal while also adjusting its knockback a little bit to make it more rewarding at later percents, and less so at earlier ones. Also, using grounded Dspecial to make the projectile pop out of the ledge was very strong because of the 1x hitstun multiplier. So uhhhhhhhhhhhhh oops x4)

Update: 2 Jun, 2024 @ 3:43pm

Patch 1.35 - No more bouncing!

Magma Pocket:
~Bugfix: Fixed an issue that would occur on Spirit Tree where the Magma Pocket would transition back and forth into its projectile form if it was overlapping with the platforms on the sides, which was perceived as its bouncing infinitely.

Update: 16 May, 2024 @ 11:02am

Patch 1.3 - Some much needed tweaks

Magma Pocket:
~Bugfix: Magma Pockets can no longer interrupt galaxies from occurring (i.e.: they won't prevent guaranteed kills from happening)
~Bugfix: Magma Pockets now become projectiles when there is no longer solid ground underneath them.
-Now disappears on death.
(Outside of fixing janky situations, the change to Magma Pockets disappearing on death should prevent situations where Vakna can go for more powerful combos right after respawning)

Nair:
-Hurtbox size increased during the first active frame.
(As this is one of Vakna's most used normals, this should make it more susceptible to trading and thus less reliable to throw out.)

Bair:
-Hurtbox size increased during the active frames and early endlag frames.
(Similar to nair, this should make it easier to punish from range and to whiff punish.)

Fspecial - Ashen Fade:
+Knockback changed from 8 base, 0.8 scaling to 7 base, 0.95 scaling.
(This move was in a bit of a weird spot in Vakna's kit, having the startup of a big unsafe kill move but not really the killpower behind one. This should help secure its purpose by giving it a boost in knockback at higher percents.)

Uspecial - Lava Plume:
-Startup increased: 16f -> 20f
-Bounce duration increased: 20f -> 25f
~Bounce gravity decreased: 0.7 -> 0.6
-Vakna's horizontal speed now decreases during the first window (aiming).
+Vakna is now Projectile Invul just before and during the initial travel period of Uspecial.
(Uspecial was also in a slightly weird place because it was very punishable offstage, while simultaneously being hard to punish if you bounced with it onstage. This should help remedy both problems.)

Dspecial - Fissuring Strike:
-Vakna now can't perform Dspecial for 30 frames after a Magma Pocket has detonated
(Detonation is now a more committal action, making it less easily thrown out as soon as the pocket has been destroyed)

Dspecial 2 - Basalt Crash:
~Air versions sprites during the startup and dive portions have been flipped.
-Dspecial 2's Spikes can now be destroyed by the opponent with any hitbox, stopping their propagation.
(The air Dspecial change should help improve visual clarity a bit, since the move has been noted to be hard to tell at a glance which direction it is actually aimed in. The change to the Dspecial 2 spikes was done to give it additional counter play, allowing opponents to properly stop it if timed properly.)

Update: 5 Feb, 2024 @ 10:09pm

Patch 1.2: A few balance changes before genesis

Dattack:
- Dattack endlag increased from 16(24) frames to 18(27) frames
- Dattack's cancel window no longer occurs early if you land the first hit
(Dattack was, and still is, probably the single most overloaded normal I have ever put on a character, and very much needed some toning back. Particularly, the removal of the cancel window decrease hurts his ability to extend combos to insane distances and forces you to rely on other options. I plan on bringing it back as a rune in the future though, since it is such a fun tool to utilize overall)

Fair:
- Linker hits now have a 0.9x hitstun multiplier
(This change should hopefully make followups off of Fair's multi hits less rewarding overall, though he's still very much able to follow up after them)

Dspecial - Fissuring Strike:
- If dspecial (ground)'s projectile hitbox is parried, the puddle will die right after the spawn animation finishes
(The change here was largely done to make it actually possible to stop Vakna from getting a Magma Pocket out on stage if he tries to do te grounded version)

Dspecial 2 - Basalt Crash:
+ Dspecial 2 no longer requires you to be facing the puddle to detonate it.
+ Dspecial 2's puddle detection area has been extended to include more of the spikes towards the back.
(Changes to Dspecial 2's detection area should help make detonating the Magma Pocket more lenient overall)

Bugfixes:
- Fixed an issue in the ditto where the Magma Pocket would persist if an opposing Vakna could detonate your puddle while its moving
(This was a funny after effect from the Ditto interaction patch, which led to a bunch of stupid nonsense for both parties)

Update: 23 Jan, 2024 @ 8:40pm

1.18: A bugfix
~ 4th set of alt pallets added, with a couple original pallets and reference alts based on the remaining contest characters that weren't in the previous sets
~ Tweaked the Lost Ruler alt's colors to more accurately match the character it was based off of and to avoid overlap with one of the new alts.

Dspecial (Ground):
- Fixed an issue where forcing the puddle off ledge would cause the resulting projectile to spawn two projectiles upon hitting the ground.

Update: 14 Jan, 2024 @ 8:34pm

Patch 1.17: Some ditto shenanigans:

Magma Pocket:
+Shooting an Nspecial projectile at the pocket now makes it transcendent for all variants.
~In a Ditto, both Vakna players can interact with each others pockets in the following ways:
-Repositioning it with Ftilt and Dattack
-Detonating it into the Geyser using Nspecial or Uspecial
-Detonating it into the spike blast using Dspecial 2
(It was suggested at one point that Vakna should have some interactions another Vakna's Magma Pocket in the ditto, so this patch adds that right before the deadline for the contest. The changes to the Nspecial pocket projectile were done to accomidate the prior changes, since we couldn't figure out a way for the interactions to work properly for both players unless we made them transcendent)

Ftilt:
-Second hit can no longer break projectiles
(This change was done to accomidate the ditto interaction so Ftilt wouldn't destroy the Magma pocket as it was being repositioned, and we didn't want to go back on the change from last patch. It also grants Ftilt a more notable weakness when compared to Dtilt, that being a weakness to projectiles itself)

Dattack:
-Landing hit can no longer break projectiles
(Same reasons as for the Ftilt change)

Update: 12 Jan, 2024 @ 11:45am

Patch 1.16 - Counterplay? What's that?

Magma Pocket:
-The Infernal Hand projectile is no longer transcendent. This means you can destroy the projectile spawned during Dspecial ground at the ledge, Dspecial Air, or from moving the pocket with Ftilt or Dattack
