Fixed some bugs with neutral special and down air not rendering properly

Update: 24 Nov, 2024 @ 2:00am

What's New??
After 2 years, I have returned to this project and have come back with a big update! Here are the new additions:
  • Your Neutral Special is a projectile. With the other moves, it is easy to forget that you have this at your disposal. In this update, a small icon will appear over your hud after an attack (that isn't Neutral Special) is initiated to indicate that you can throw your projectile.
  • This update introduces the ability to swap your projectile. Hold your special input while taunting to switch between Hammer and Shot Put. The icon above your hud will change accordingly.
  • FS Meter and FS multiplier have been added. Charge it up to 100% and input Neutral Special to unleash a final deadly blow!
  • A small message will appear above your hud during your final attack when you land the final hit. This is your taunt message , which changes depending on your chosen color on the character select screen.
  • Hit and death sound effects have been added.
FS Meter
Landing attacks on a player will fill up your meter based on the damage dealt and will be directly influenced by your FS multiplier. Here are some other instances in which the meter will be filled or drained:
  • Getting hit will add 1% + inflicted damage.
  • Parrying an attack will add the amount of parried damage + 8%.
  • Dying while your meter is at 0% will add 25%. If your meter is full and you die, you will lose 30%. Otherwise, dying will result in a 20% increase.
  • If your meter is 100% full and you are hit at least 12 times, you will lose 35%.
  • Not landing your final will completely drain your meter (don't miss it)!
  • Hitting someone with the looping phase of Down Special will not add anything to your meter.
FS Multiplier
Under normal circumstances, the FS Meter is intentionally difficult to fill up. The FS Multiplier is meant to reward combo chains, speeding up the process. Every hit you land without getting hit adds to your multiplier, which multiplies the amount added to your meter. Jabs will add 0.25, while every other attack will add 0.5. The looping portion of Down Special will not add anything. Your character will glow green if your multiplier is higher than 3.
Super Armored attacks will preserve your multiplier. Soft armor attacks will not.
Shot Put
As mentioned above, holding down your neutral input while taunting will allow you to switch between your Hammer and Shot Put projectile. Shot Put has some properties that are different from Hammer. They are listed below:
  • You can change the direction you are facing during the first 30 frames of the attack by holding left or right.
  • You cannot use this projectile in midair for balancing purposes (and because I was too lazy to add it in and animate the reference).
  • A soft armor value of 20 is granted after the first 30 frames. This means 20 damage or more is needed to interrupt the attack and knock back the player.
  • You can change the trajectory of the projectile depending on your input. Holding up will reduce the speed but increase the height. Holding down will increase the speed but reduce the height. Not holding either of those inputs will default to the normal trajectory
  • The cooldown is much longer than the Hammer
  • This projectile has more knockback and much more hit stun. This can be used to your advantage!
Some tweaks, balancing, and corrections here and there include:
  • Down Special no longer tanks through every move and attack known to mankind.
  • Up and Down-Strong hit-lag has been slightly reduced.
  • The hammer projectile no longer slides on the ground.
  • Fixed issues with Down, Side, and Up Specials not working.
  • Character color options are more distinct, and the tints are more defined.
  • Adjusted the knockback of some attacks.
  • Adjusted the sprite offset slightly on some attacks to preserve consistency.
  • The character's damage now correctly displays as the correct height above the player
