I just booted up a save with this new mod. I saw someone say farther down that all that is needed is to get magnetic weapons, but do they go above that tier as well?

So I'm a little confused. Do I just research these weapons when they supposedly pop up in the lab, or do I get them automatically? Or am I missing something?

but the DMR is still designed for ranged hitting power... In lore its a alternative for the sniper rifle since it was used by marksmen and recon units. Also just because the BR replaced the DMR doesn't mean that the DMR is a AR alternative. The BR just covered both roles well and even then it required a alt version of itself to fit the DMR role better. The DMR has always been a between of the BR and SR.

Also, I notice you didn't reply to the Vektor Rifle comment. This mod has a DMR and 2 types of SMG that could replace the always-ignored Reaper Rifle and Skirmisher Bullpup.

The Vektor Rifle is even based on a real-world DMR, the Dragunov. The Bullpup is technically based on an AR, but the shorter range and lower damage compared to the AR fits more with how the SMG is usually portrayed in Halo.

The Reach DMR in the lore was the predecessor to the BR, with the latter replacing the former by the end of the war. Meaning that even by the "BR is the ranged AR alternative" logic, the DMR would still be an AR alternative since the "ranged AR alt" role the BR currently fills would be the one the DMR originally had.

Even the known users of the DMR in the games usually tend to be non-snipers, like Carter-A259 and the common grunts mixed in with the more common AR-users.

I agree with @Lauren Lore The BR is the alternate while the DMR is as she said, more for snipers who needed to trade out stopping power for ammo/ROF.

I have to respectfully disagree with the dmr being an alternative to the assault rifle as the battle rifle is the alternative to the assault rifle in halo. The DMR which is Designated marksman rifle, is an alternative to the sniper rifle, as it is a class inbetween the BR and the SR, which is why i made it for snipers only as other options are available for non snipers where as the sniper has no true alternative but a DMR is usually put on a marksman / sniper

I really don't like the "Sniper DMR" choice, Halo has always used that as an alternative to the Assault Rifle. Not a Sniper Rifle.

At best, it would be better used as a Vektor Rifle.

Is there a way to turn down the volume for the weapons? It the sounds of the gunfire from these weapons overpower all the other sounds in the game, making them extremely loud compared to the rest of the game.

Is there a way for you to make this not require separate building/engineering purchases from normal mag/pulse upgrades?

It kinda sucks not being able to use this past ballistic because you have to spend 2x the supplies

Love this mod, it's been a staple in my games since I found it. A question, is there any future ability to give the resistance factions these weapons? A vanilla skirmisher/ Reaper are somewhat clashing against the UNSC.

voicepacks work with WOTC, even if they're for vanilla, you just ignore the little marker that tells you it's not compatible with WOTC and move on.

Is it possible to get this to work with LWOTC? The weapons aren't upgrading to laser which I assumed would happen, but also aren't upgrading to magnetic. I tried using xskin and ended up losing 7 mag rifles.

i know nothing about coding or what not but i tried for a good 5 hours to try and get Grimy's Loot mod to work with this with no luck, its quite annoying that it used to work ages ago now never works... is there anyway you could help to make this more simple to do??

I'll probably get this when it's finished. Though the lack of an Etilka (Jorge's turret), H5 AR, H5 Shotgun, H5 Sniper, and H5 Magnum in the "Planned Inclusions" is something I'm wary about.

Also not big on the DMR being restricted to Snipers, only the Sniper Rifle should be restricted to Snipers.

Is it possible to make changes to the mod to have all the weapons only spawn once and not have an infinite number of them when the game starts? Or restrict the use of these Halo weapons to a certain class, such as the "Spartan-II" from the Super Soldiers mod? I was thinking it would be really great if we could have some weird backstory of Master Chief somehow going into a portal back to another dimension into the Xcom Universe, but that means only Master Chief (with his Spartan-II class) would be able to equip Halo weapons and not the other Xcom operatives. Is there a way to do that?

I have a quick question, is there any way to change the DMR so that it's not a sniper only weapon? I know it was done to like avoid redundancy by having both the DMR and the BR that both more or less are used on the same role but I never used the DMR at all with every other Sniper Rifle I had. thanks for reading this.

I know about as much about the mod as you do at this point, i havent looked into those files in years... Those are two different guns.. so if i recall each gun is seperated by a line break so theyre all blocked together they follow a pretty simple naming convention

i.e IIRC its

ReachAR_CV
ReachAR_LS
ReachAR_PS


something like that then the next gun is

MA37_CV
MA37_LS
MA37_PS

idk youd have to look at the ini file for the proper suffixes idk them anymore

hi i'm trying to configure a mod to include these weapons, specific iridar's underbarrel mod, but i can't seem to find the proper tags for each weapon

i.e. for the assault rifle, i can't find if i should identify it as "ReachAR_CV" or "MA37_CV" or etc.

Could I inquire for a short list for each weapon so I can configure a ini file for the mod?

@Blaze sadly not unless you open up the mod itself in the mod buddy and edit it. Sorry about that, i played with my sound much lower than everyone else and WITHOUT headphones so it was never an issue for me. So sadly as im currently not working on XCom2 and dont know the location of the files you would have to do it yourself

My only other comment is that *HOLY SHIT* these guns are loud. It's to the point where I can barely hear the basegame cannon, while these thing are still blowing my ears out. Is it possible to adjust the volume of these, maybe? Bring them down a bit? It's a bit much...

So, I'm trying to make some adjustments to the weapons included in this mod with Iridar's Weapon Skin Replacer, and while I've successfully gotten the Template names for the Schematics, the template name for the weapons themselves are proving far more elusive.

To use the DMR as an example, (and omitting the _CV, _MG, etc. at the end), I've tried "REACHDMR", "HWMDMR", as well as "WotcHWMDMR", grabbing them from the .ini config files, and none of those are being recognized. What am I missing?

Could someone with Weapon Skin Replacer knowledge make a WSR config file for this mod? Love these guns and want a proper halo playthrough but i suck at modding, i've looked at the WSR tutorial and its over my head. Has anyone done it? Be willing to share the work?

you can not have any of the same type of weapom mods, or it can pick the wrong one... i learned this from star wars blasters.

I'm using this mod and can use the weapons fine but when I upgrade to Mag wepaons I'm unable to find them to purchase them. Is it possible to spawn them with console commands?

there is one, all by its self and it works just fine. even gets upgraded with the game.
