what does this mean? In laymen terms for non modders. I swapped the perk to pistolgunner but am not sure what the first step means...

tbh I have used this mod in the past without doing anything but with a pistol as the sidearm sometimes when they would go to shoot it it would just stay holstered and they would point and shoot an invisible handgun

@Alpha115 ah, I see, thanks for the explanation, I look forward to trying this class out in my next playthrough, especially since I have the heavy assault rifle mod, which should make for a good combination

@Serpentax a late reply but yeah in the current build of the mod only extra mags gives an ammo slot. Traverse fire used to do it before Extra mags was created, I simply forgot to update the mod perk descriptions here on the mod page. As for stacking you cannot have more then one ammo slot so it cannot occur, even if 5 perks gave ammo slots they will not stack.

so both extra mags and traverse fire give them an ammo slot, so how does that work? do they get to apply 2 different types of ammo at the same time? and what if you're using a mod the gives soldiers an ammo slot like locked and loaded, do they then get 2 ammo slots from the start and 3 with traverse fire?

So I'm still running this with RPGO/commanders choice. My question is what could I edit on this config that would keep them from spawning/rolling this class hence forth? I have about 6 already, I'd just like to keep anymore from spawning.

@Malakie so good news, the mod requirement is not malware. However I did not type the link in correctly. Also you can access the required mod over to the side under required mods. its right under required DLC.

The link you supply for a required mod is flagged as malicious and trojan. Can you remove it please and any requirement for your mod needing it.

@Janlir, the class does not get saturation fire. Area Barrage is the big AOE attack for the class, but if you are comparing it to saturation fire there are two big differences. 1. area barrage does 15 less environmental damage and -1 damage penalty as well. 2. Area barrage has a -15 penalty to hit. Trying to compare two different abilities one of which the class does not normally posses is odd. Nothing is stopping you from using saturation fire. Duelist does work in my game, but it may not be working in your game for some possible mod conflict.

Hi Alpha115 - another great class, which I really, really liked and I thank you for that. I just played entire campaign with multiple HeavyGunners. I was wondering if 'Area barrage' area could be toned down a little bit, to be somewhere between Grenadier's 'Saturation fire' and current setting? 'Saturation fire' is almost never used because it is to narrow, but 'Area barrage' feels OP. Also, maybe this is a problem with some other mods conflicting, but I couldn't notice damage increase on an autopistol, after selecting 'Duelist'. On the other hand I think that the 'Battle Fitness' perk on Corporal level could tweaked or even replaced entirely. Again big thanks for very interesting and fun class!

Going to be releasing an update in the next few days. If you have your config file set up for pistol usage for the class I'd recommend saving them so the update does not potentially override them.

@jahsinha also you can adjust mod the autopistol mod to just give you the proper animations to use the autopistol without changing its stats. You can do so from the config files. Its not hard or complicated.

Little annoyed, Alpha. Why add the Autopistol dependency? I'm in the middle of a campaign.And I don't particularly care for that mod ( not bad, just not changes I care about). I'm currently building a bada$$ Heavy Gunner w/o this. Is it a hard requirement? I doubt I'll even use it.

@PremierVader, yes this class has no brigadier rank skills, I have no idea how to add the rank to the class since I never used classes that have such a rank. As for adding them to mid game you can do it.

@Underwater Ranger #AquaShaman honestly any of the community promotion screen mods will work. As long as it allows you to see three skill trees you are fine. You should use the latest one and you will be fine. a lot of mods were made using the old one as the recommendation. The newest one works so I'd suggest using that one.

Im wondering bc I use other class mods but why does the all the class mods require a different promotion screen mod? Will the class still work without he promotion screen mod you listed? Thats why im really confused. Why cant i use a few good class mods but I cant bc they all have promotion screen mods that conflict with each other.

@Alpha115 Thank you! Amazing job on all the class updates! I usually play with the old Richards classes 3 tier non lw class pack (when not using rpgo) and I've used this class and the Hunter but had to completely rework them to have 3 tiers so they could keep up. I love making advent smarter and have more and bigger pods so my soldiers have to kick ass or die. I'm currently using ALL of your class mods with Richards class pack and now I'm changing them. Your classes are powerful but more importantly their interesting!

I've made and modified more classes than I can count, using all of the perk packs, but every time I change anything on yours I end up changing it back because I like how you did it better. Thank you for the fun I'm having and the time you invested to make it possible.

I'm not sure if it's this mod or if it's the spark arsenal mod but for some reason my heavy gunner has a dedicated ammo slot despite not investing in perks or adding a dedicated ammo mod, though the only other mod I have is a dedicated vest mod. Asides from that this is one of the best class mods I have played.

Just an FYI, you have a typo in the final copy (you have the word 'are' twice):
"They are are armed"

I also saw you had the word "Heavy" Titlecased, but not "machine gun". You may want to lowercase the H in "Heavy".

And just a personal request... instead of "to X-Com" at the end, can I suggest "to the army"? I am only suggesting that for those who use mods that change the game to non X-Com related content.

This class was not built to use a gauntlet its secondary is a pistol. I do not know how they are spawning with a gauntlet, and its not occurring in my game. Probably another mod messing with something else.

Is this class supposed to be able to equip a gauntlet? Several of my heavies have one equipped but when I go to change their loadout, the gauntlet is no longer listed.

Thank you for this. Was also wanting to see a gunner that didnt use grenades. The Grenadier is basically only there to shred armor and be a meatshield and after that he just misses shots.

One of the best class mods in the game. Possibly the best support class since with their overwatch skills a couple of those soldiers may defend against almost anything. Load them up with extended ammo clips, a scope and some AP bullets and they can stop a moving Sectopod in one turn! Great job!!! :steamhappy:

This class grew on me on my last playthrough. Unlike the Fuze who felt a bit redundant to the Grenadier (used the AWC Perks more than the class itself) this one was very fun combined with the Titan Armor - Imagine Bob Ross mowing down row upon row of Aliens. Area Lockdown and Rapid Reaction felt a bit redundant as both do pretty much the same. Area Lockdown in particular is quite strong though as it also works when the target is attacking. Might be more balanced to not have this trait and instead of rapid reaction have the perk that any action warrants overwatch reactions.
Dragon Round barrage was probably my most used skill since it's guaranteed to hit. Makes those 25% chances on that last sectoid irrelevant. Should probably cost 3 ammo and have a 2 turn cooldown.
Area Barrage should work as the Grenadier counterpart (think it costs 3 ammo there and is % based hit?).

All in all, still a very fun class and a welcomed addition to the class roster.

OK, I'll see what comes out of the next Heavy Gunner I get in my next run. I wasn't trying to complain, it was more about how you had gone to 99% gun in that iteration. I found your emphasis on the gun refreshing, and have liked the heavy gunner every time I've taken one.
