Heya Steve, not sure if you're around on steam anymore but I've been trying to get the mods to work and they don't. I also tried overridding the base ini files since your mods are configure changes but it's not registering them. If you have any ideas here I'd love to hear them. :steamhappy:

This mod breaks the scanning protocol ability. it shows one charge remaining but when i click on the ability it says out of charges.

Hahaha, indeed. Well as my punishment XCOM2 is now broke on my PC and won't run. Did all the normal things to fix it but no joy. Submitted a ticket to 2K in hopes to get it fixed and then i will get these mods fixed.

That would explain why a lot of folks are reporting that the mod isn't working. I'm going to make some fixes and post an update to see if that puts the mod in the right load order.

By the way, It is truely awesome to spot a fellow Black Adder fan... I think what my mod needs is one of Baldrick's cunning plans.. one as cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford.

The game auto updated about a week ago and this mod no longer works, but it was great while it lasted. If anyone knows a fix, I'm open for suggestions.

Not an idiot for sure. If you what you opened back up after your change was a saved game then the reason you didn't see your change is because the solider's attributes are recorded in the save. You would need to get a save editor to change those. Any new soldiers that came on after you loaded your save would have your new scores.
Now if this was on a fresh new game AND you made the change in my mod's ini files then you might be dealing with an old cache issue. When XCOM2 runs it builds a run time version of all the ini files with all the mods loaded into one directory. Firaxis puts these files in your My Document/My Games/... drill down to the config directory of XCOM WOTC and delete all the files out. Go launch the game, let it load to the menu, and then exit out and launch again to play. In the first launch the game rebuilds the cache.
If there is still an issue let me know and we can look deeper into this.

Is there a way of making the heroes that join you (Reaper, Templar and Skirmisher) in early game have the higher starting stats too? All of the rookie soldiers I get are fine, but when I meet the factions the first soldiers they give me have base game stats.

Hi Monk, see my comments in response to your other comment. It would be better that you were putting these comments on the actual LWOTC A Better X mod that is specifically not working for you. If I do find a bug others will benefit from the comments I would leave on those mods.

Just finished the GameData and the larger Character configs where all of the soldier class attributes are set (i.e. mobility, health, will, etc.). I would have just one more file to work out for the ability trees but with LW there are a few more. I would say I am 75% done though. When I get the LITE version done the full version will follow it shortly. I code in the lite values with the full values in comments so that to make the full version i just have to uncomment the values.

From what I am seeing it looked like the "tired" status is there along with a few other statuses that your soldiers have to recover from. LW definitely keeps you from running the same squads back to back so that you are frequently rotating soldiers in and out.

Hey folks since its being asked forI have started work on an LWOTC version of all of my A Better X mods. It appears the LW2 devs left no weapon, attribute, or skill untouched. I have been working on just A Better Arsenal for two nights and am only 60% done. Although it is the most tedious, weapons are the easiest things to test as you know from the start of the first mission if the mod loaded correctly. My other two, Better Rookie and Better Start take playing through the first mission to see if everything worked. The Mod dev tool does give the ability to test however due to the nature of the load order with the testing sandbox my mods get ignored. Likely more detail than you care to know.. Just letting folks know I'm working on an LWOTC upgrade.

Online Addict: Kind of. All three of Scuba Steve's mods require significant ini edits for LWotC support. I can send you my versions, but you will not see any changes unless you use the Firaxis launcher instead of the AML.

Thanks for the feedback. I have created "Lite" versions of all of these mods. (see link table above). I believe the cool downs are not zeroed out as they are with this full version. I'm glad you were able to find the appropriate property and change it as needed.

Concerning the Psionics I never got those adjustments to work in the same way. Not sure if the mechanics are coded differently than other abilities and so my overrides do more to mess things up than make them more powerful.

Agreed. Lightning Hands with a cooldown of 0 means one sniper can kill every single enemy within range of his/her pistol.

I think you should use 1 instead of 0 for short cooldowns. This only affects abilities that are not necessarily turn-ending, like Quickdraw which currently can be used indefinitely and Deadeye which can be used for every shot in Serial.

I also had to change SCANNING_PROTOCOL_CHARGES back to 1 as otherwise i got the error "no charges available" and could not use it at all.

Psionic Storm still does not work as expected (does not deal damage reliably, most recently only to two Codexes but not to an Archon, all in range) although I added FocusDamageBoostAbilities="IonicStorm".

It does effect Spark and the faction heroes. They all get buffed movement, health, armor, will, etc.
