I don't see the explosions as too difficult to program (check who dealt the damage before causing damage), and the boost ball would be relatively easy to do. Trails would be activated based on the ball's angle, and the keep upright would only come into play when the ball is moving, and would be weak. A spring ball power would also be used. it would propel the ball straight up on jumping.
