In short: Greyscale image stored in the alpha channel of normal map.
In this case the problem isn't really the texture size (well, if compared to my earlier work :D), but the fact there are so many of them. The gun, stock, flashlight and ammo all have separate material and textures. In comparison, the magnum version of the same gun is only 44.645 MB by simply dropping flashlight and stock.
Btw, I fixed the slide issue you reported 11 months ago :D
