In hindsight, a ton of AC aircraft came out rather weak considering the source material. They were my first mods and I was more worried about balancing, considering that the vanilla Jet Fighter is just 75 combat strength (compared to Bazooka's 85).
If I had access to my old PC which has the SDK, I likely would have buffed the air units' strength like crazy. And yeah, I would've also take a look at the Wyvern's Science gain since 50% is cheap change compared to Atomic/Information Era Science gain.
Maybe we could make the X-02 S model a promotion (once you get a T3 upgrade maybe a +10 to total power?) while giving the sci a boost from 50% to 100%-150% of combat strength gained in science?
Sorry if this came off as a rant about how I think that the Wyvern is weak...
Now need models from old ace combat
Since my last mod work I honestly haven't put much thought into updating stuff as I have not yet figured out what new things I could add or improve what's already present, much less find the time to get to implementing them.
Stuff like custom ingame models are still only a pipedream so I cannot promise anything in that regard (unless someone is willing to make one or point me to an existing model used in another mod that could work). Likewise, so is any coding wizardry that only lua can provide.
If you'd like to offer suggestions on what you'd like to see, please don't be afraid to post them here (or in the Ace Combat Wonder Pack mod). I've pretty much retired from Civ V modding work... though I wouldn't mind coming back ;)
But i can do all skins easily, many aircraft already here with air unit pack
I think, it s possible to have a strategy game game from ace combat univers :)
Now, i need motivation and some guys to help me xD (not for skin but xml file)
Glad to hear that you enjoy the mod! And for the time being, all of the jet fighters are using the default jet fighter model whereas the flying carriers/warships are using the airship model from the Empire of the Smoking Skies scenario
Here's the ADF-11 one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3499709
And the Morgan: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2801417
Do you have links to them?
While the Stealth Bomber model is more accurate for the aerial warships (since they share the same general outline), it's likely that this will result in a the aerial warships simply sliding over the ground/sea rather than actually hover. I initially used the Carrier model and seeing it slide along the ground kinda ruined the impression.
Now if I were able to separate a unit's ingame model from the animations, that would be a different story...
I shall look into the matter immediately.
I thought about the Aigon and Gleipnir, but the models are better
Uh, which two do you want to look more like Stealth Bombers? The Hresvelgr and the Aigaion?
And with my limited knowledge regarding how unit's ingame appearances, I picked the airships because they actually hover as opposed to something else which would glide along the ground.
But, can you change the Model of these two into a (maybe bigger) Stealth Bomber when you are back?
It will look more like the originals as an balloon in my Opinion
:)
Try to if possible, otherwise feel free to send me a friend invite and provide the link through DM
Sure, I'll have them. See if I can get them to work in the future.
Unfortunately, I don't have my PC around to make any new mods or update old ones until I get back home for summer. But when I do, I'd like to try it out.
The units recycle ingame unit models, specifically the Jet Fighter and Airship models; no custom unit models used. I figured images of the units weren't necessary.
The jet planes use the default jet fighter ingame model while the heavy command cruisers use the Sky Fortress model from the Empire of The Smoky Skies scenario (which will have to suffice until someone makes a custom model of a hovering aircraft carrier)
