I have created an extension mod: Barbarians Conquer Cities - Cooks
* Barbarians can conquer cities while the city's Loyalty is positive
* Barbarians can conquer AI Civilizations and City-States if so inclined

@FearSunn feel free to include this in your mod if its to your liking.

this should be updated so taht instead of becoming free cities the barbarians can become their own civ

FearSunn. Both City states and barbs can destroy cities (not capitals) in the latest barbarian mechanic.

I think they simply ripped you off since this mod does exactly what the new mechanic is calling a ruthless game :p.

This mod is still awesome for games without the last expansion though.
Just wanted to pay my respects FearSunn...Yet another mod from you that finds its way into the main game.

How likely is this to crash now witht he barbarians clans mode if they become a city state?

Barbarians dont seem to be able to capture cap cities anymore. Can anyone confirm? I´ve seen it very clearly in my latest game. Karakorum totally surrended by barbs, no defense, and the city stands with 1 defense point when they attack.

Just to add to comments below, city states can take cities, if you remove razing as an option in advanced setup for your game. Seen it twice, and it is amazing.

I have seen them conquer a capital city on emperor... and some other smaller cities, with no ragging barbarians

Having problems. When trying to resume a cloud multiplayer game with turn notifications, I can no longer load the save file and resume the game. This occurred the first time we played the game following the August 23rd update to this mod. The game says that the "Barbarians Conquer Cities" mod is missing. Playing base game. Before that, the game was working fine and we could resume the game just fine through the steam notification link and through the Civ main menu. Now we can see the game and I can see that it is my turn, but I cannot resume the game.

Hmm,why these barbs just surround AI's city,but don't conquer it,even in higher diffculties.and they will attack my city frequently.

In some previous Civ games, Barbarians were basicly another AI controlled Civ.

It usually doesn't happen. You basically have to settle a city way across the map from everyone else, including city states and never send any military to it. And even then, it takes a really long time. I've mostly seen it happen in random desert cities I didn't really care about.

Cities will become Free Cities. Free Cities all belong to one AI player (ID=62). Free Cities are not separate entities like City States. Therefore Free Cities in essence are all one "barbarian" civ with its own agenda and unique behavior. For example FreeCitiesCiv is always at war with all major players and always in peace with barbarians and CityStates. It is like another unique barbarians faction.

New version just uploaded! Now if you play with Rise&Fall barbarians will conquer cities. If you play pre-RF barbarians will just destroy cities as usual.

This mod does nothing at all to barbarians behavior. This is purely mechanical If...Then script handling final result - city is overrun by barbs.
From my personal observtions how barbarians act it looks like they prefere to attack units first and only go for a city if there is nothing more around to attack or pillage. I was "hiding" my units from barbs just to force them attack my cities for testing purposes. And then if they manage to level city's defences to ground city will be destroyed by this script.

Hmm, Ive used this mod in my last game on Diety. Barbs dont seam to attack cities at all? Or maybe I just got unlucky and they didnt...for some reason?

In vanilla barbarians usually just walk over the city multiple times and nothing happens at all. I've never seen any of my cities destroyed by barbarians on any difficulty level.
