SuperGrid - Modless Mod

Strangely enough this worked just fine for me, loaded in fine, saved and reloaded with placed blocks not being deleted, blocks placed as they should've including the super grid blocks. No issues on my end so maybe an update fixed it? I have no idea how an update would fix a broken mod though...
Straxxie 14 Oct, 2024 @ 8:05pm
very broken, do not use, it will delete every block armor block you have placed in a current world.
King DaMuncha 12 Oct, 2024 @ 4:13am
I want to put small blocks on large grids.
GGyou68 13 Aug, 2024 @ 6:36pm
the mod is bugged right now, it is imposable to load up any save or new game with the mod on, someone should make an updated version of this mod
Mr.Shenanigans 18 Jan, 2024 @ 8:09am
Would you consider adding a feature to render large grid blocks as small ones but with a tinted texture so you know its a large version but rendered as small. as to make it more possible to build and be able to see through the clipped meshes

i will even pony up money for such an update.
could be an alt+F10 admin tool option to enable force render small grid. and possibly even to turn the supergrid blocks completely invisible.

i have mastered how to do building with this mod and have everything working as intended. the only issues i run in to now is being forced to build blindly because of meshes clipping in to me :(

I'm no longer actively supporting this mod, i might chuck the files up on github when I get a chance
RakWar 27 May, 2022 @ 12:38pm
BUGGED ... as of may 2022 this mod erases blocks ... tried is several times and it always deleted the blocks and in addition it sort of made them invisible and occupied the space they were visually in so you could not build there. Its may be possible to play the game if you load this mod first and start a new game
JWA 5 Mar, 2022 @ 12:11pm
Not sure when it started, probably the Warfare 2 update, but as of this week I'm no longer able to load the game with this mod. It's a shame because I'd love to see the new blocks converted.
Bluestar 25 Nov, 2021 @ 3:51am
TBH a mod that simply adds all the large blocks to small grid so you can make large ships in small grid from would be good, as none of the other large to small grid mods have added armor blocks

If you could make a 'lite' version of this mod that just dose the armor blocks then we could use it along side other large to small grid mods that make all vanilla blocks work on small grid

Dose the large blocks on small grid have correct collision?
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 16 Aug, 2021 @ 3:44pm
maybe, im sort of tied up with nodding another game, I think I was planning to explain the way this works in detail so others could replicate it, maybe ill chuck the files on github
Malacanth 14 Aug, 2021 @ 6:51am
Planning to do an update someday?
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 14 Aug, 2021 @ 4:01am
probably not, ive not updated it in a looooooong time, sorry
Malacanth 12 Aug, 2021 @ 8:03pm
Is this not working fully anymore, unable to use a large grid rotor on a small grid
ARK7 17 Feb, 2021 @ 11:54am
Ok
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 17 Feb, 2021 @ 10:49am
yes, it exploits a feature of the engine, thats the point of it, though ive not updated it for years, so if it still works, i'll be amazed
ARK7 21 Jan, 2021 @ 4:42am
If you take off the mod do the block remain on the grids?
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 11:35am
that's exactly how it will work, its working within the limitations of the game without actually adding anything, hence how it works on vanilla worlds
Darius Valkorian 20 Nov, 2020 @ 4:41pm
This isn't working for me, the small grid armor blocks have large grid visuals, but still have the small grid collision mesh.
Einar 26 Jun, 2020 @ 8:50am
It appears that this mod doesn‘t support blocks from dlcs:steamfacepalm:
horntx 25 Jun, 2020 @ 8:36am
This appears to have removed all large grids in my world, use with caution
Daniel Lee Howell 29 Apr, 2020 @ 3:39am
Great mod, needed to put an interior turret on a small grid point defense rover, and this did the trick. Thank you!
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 13 Dec, 2019 @ 4:20am
yep, new blocks would have to be added to the block definitions xml, as their supergrid part, its not too difficult to do
JWA 29 Oct, 2019 @ 10:13pm
I love this mod and use the hell out of it. I've made several small ships using large grid parts. They are very strong, especially in survival. Most of the stuff, including turrets, work if properly mounted but there are quirks about what will work together.

What about new blocks? I would assume if the super grid is already in the game then any new blocks added would work, but is it something you have to add to your mod to access? I need those new blocks in my ships lol. I understand you're busy but any answer is appreciated.
AnoraPeart 15 Sep, 2019 @ 7:20pm
id be greatly apreciated if you had this working again
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 15 Sep, 2019 @ 2:23pm
Hoovy - not sure if i can, i'm not adding or changing any blocks, or changing how the game handles blocks, i can have a look, but it would mean changing collision meshes, which technically means a new block, so it wont work on vanilla worlds.

Anora - not really been working on this for a while, busy doing uni work, its potentially quite an easy fix, just need to duplicate entries for large grid large blocks and small grid large blocks, but without the original files i modified (which i might potentially have somewhere hidden away) its going to take me far too long to edit everything again, but, i'll try to find some time to have a mess around.
AnoraPeart 14 Sep, 2019 @ 4:01pm
eny news on the fix regard large grid
SourceStick 14 Sep, 2019 @ 8:08am
The exploit has been in the game for ages. The option only removes large blocks from existing supergrids when enabled. The "vanilla" way to do the exploit needs some weird blueprint file editing (that I don't know how or what to edit). You can find few videos from youtube explaining how supergridding works. And also this means your mod isn't useless.
I have a small suggestion though: Can you make a small block that has it's placement collision removed so I can paste large grid blocks to it. You can try to attach a large block in blueprint form to a small block, but it doesn't let you place it. With my block idea, you could make a pillar that doesn't collide with the large block allowing you to place it. But only if the game let's you. :D
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 8:33am
that option in settings is nothing to do with me, this didn't add anything to the game, just exploited a feature of the engine, i guess now its possible without this
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 8:28am
hang on.... so i did a thing that the devs noticed? and then decided to add? yessssssssssss
Dark_453 11 Aug, 2019 @ 3:07pm
This is a option within vannila Game now. you enable expermental mode. in game settings then in the adv settings of each world theres an option for "enable supergriding" listed as a expliot.. but they have added it.. CONGRATZ DEV.. maybe this not needed? IDK.. i have no idea whats behind the seens for what they enabled or what your mod does. TYVM for keeping this going :) Very helpfull and saves alot of time editing BP's in Notepad++ :D
rehab_party 2 Aug, 2019 @ 2:48pm
i cant change the block size
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 13 Jun, 2019 @ 9:53am
i have a strange feeling that the devs have changed some code so it no longer works, i could potentially try to get this working again, but i just don't have the time (or the original files)
WidowsD3ath 12 Jun, 2019 @ 9:43pm
I think if this mod is installed all basic blocks despawn once you reload into the game, survival wise anyway, I installed and activated this mod had the issue, unactivated it and my game was back to normal. More tests will be needed to confirm.
Dr. Antonio 28 May, 2019 @ 1:59pm
The blocks do not appear when a blueprint with supergridding is spawned in.
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 15 May, 2019 @ 9:38am
yep, it cant work to allow small blocks on large ships, is just not possible, not without actually creating a 'mod', so it wouldn't work in vanilla saves
DartTimeTime 14 May, 2019 @ 4:58pm
I keep re-discovering this mod, getting really excited about it, then realize it works the opposite way of what would be perfect.
Vexashen 27 Apr, 2019 @ 4:12pm
@SGT_MAJOR_FISH how do you get it to work though? Ive been trying for hours.
SGT_MAJOR_FISH 14 Apr, 2019 @ 12:00pm
its now part of the world settings (off by defult)
Danny C 301 12 Apr, 2019 @ 5:30pm
This mod seems to be unable to work in the new version of the game.
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 6 Mar, 2019 @ 2:33pm
an easier solution would be if i implemeted a toggle that could switch between the stock and modified blocks definitions file, but, seeing as this is not really in active development anymore (sorry, im really busy with other stuff) it probably will never happen, but, feel free to look at the changes i made to the blocks file and implement it yourself
CTH2004 6 Mar, 2019 @ 9:44am
One idea for this is simple: (For th ship) for making large grids buildible, you could make it to where this mod does nothing unless you look at a small grid. You can build large grid, then look at a small grid and use Super Gridding! Just an idea though!
Spaceman Spiff 23 Feb, 2019 @ 2:23pm
Thanks for the explanation. Your mod certainly has its uses; I just couldn't make it work for what I was trying to do.
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 23 Feb, 2019 @ 2:21pm
a sliding door seems easier to attatch, i cant remember what method i used, but if i recall i used windows to create a 'masked' attatchment, this ended up giving my doors a different looking floor or ceiling depending on how i mounted them, its not perfect, but there's not really any other way, since i can't alter any block properties (since the mod would'nt work in an un-modded world if i did), inventive workarounds may be needed. my suggestion for the 'normal' door would be place a 2 long window, pane edge onto the actual door from the ceiling, holding it on, the chance of a player collision is low then, but it could still occur, either way, doors and windows wont keep a ship airtight unfortunately.
Spaceman Spiff 22 Feb, 2019 @ 3:38pm
One comment though. I tried to install a regular door (not sliding door) into a small-grid build. The "attachment point" with the small grid is at the center of the door, so I built a temporary scaffold so I could indeed attach the door. But when I remove the scaffold, the door flies away (of course it does!). I cannot see how to install a door using your mod where it doesn't require a center attachment point which, obviously, negates the purpose of the door in the first place. Suggestions?
Spaceman Spiff 22 Feb, 2019 @ 2:49pm
Regardless, I couldn't get it to work for my application. I guess I'm just slow, but I managed another workaround.
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 22 Feb, 2019 @ 2:09pm
the models themselves don't connect, its the small block within the mesh that connects
Spaceman Spiff 22 Feb, 2019 @ 9:46am
Yeah, it's not working for me right now. I can't get models to connect.
AmbitiousButRubbish  [author] 16 Feb, 2019 @ 12:44pm
should be, i converted everything in the blocks.sbc file (or whatever it is named), the worst you could do is find out, ive not done anything with this mod in a while
NexeL 16 Feb, 2019 @ 9:27am
I have to ask, are the turrets (gatling/missile/interior) all supergridded in this mod? I'm wanting to make some serious stuff with interior turrets on small grids but I can't do it without normal modding.
JWA 25 Jan, 2019 @ 8:25pm
Oh I see, so if I needed to connect to something with conveyors, I would just connect to the small block. Is there any way to change where that is in relation to the large block? For example, the interior door is kind of unusable because the small block is right in the middle...
