Maps can't cause crashes after they've been loaded in as far as I know.
mjsharp16 8 Aug, 2018 @ 6:32am
no sure if a mods causing it... but mine crashes at 4th july???
woz62 16 Jul, 2018 @ 9:44pm
this is a 4k map so I can play it
GrandT  [author] 30 Apr, 2018 @ 6:17am
There will be another save post beta, I would imagine there isn't much time left on that. By that time a good chunk of the MML will also be including and everything should "just work". :)
wabbithunta 30 Apr, 2018 @ 6:09am
@GrandT
Will use your "normal" map and use it as a standard game map for now, until the Beta mode is over, assuming you're posting a saved game later on that is...(post Beta)?
I've plenty of memory and a pretty decent graphics card too, so hopefully there shouldn't be an issues from that standpoint.
GrandT  [author] 30 Apr, 2018 @ 4:24am
I agree. I wanted them in here, but the game really doesn't like the Fens. I do have a custom map editor I created myself, I'll probably look in to adding river creation to it.

As a warning, whatever comes next, will contain more cities, suburbs, towns and villages. My current map series is proving 71 towns is lasting a fair while with my base_config (something I will turn in to a mod hopefully), with that latest beta.
1ak0nia 30 Apr, 2018 @ 4:13am
If you do a MML, perhaps put in the most important rivers because otherwise the terrain is quite boring. Thanks
GrandT  [author] 29 Apr, 2018 @ 4:47am
It may be because it is saved from the current Beta. Previous episodes do have older save files. I've spent some time removing some of the unused mods for the next save file, obviously, it'll be from the beta again.
wabbithunta 29 Apr, 2018 @ 12:32am
@GrandT..
I'm unable to load the saved game. I copied it over to the saved games folder and it says the following on the loading screen (for my saved games in the game menu)

File load error: Invalid file version (103)

I'm assuming it's more than likely to be a mod issue, so I'm going to have to work through the list (over 300!) and see what one is causing the problem. if it's a mod that's the issue that is, unless anyone knows what it could be?
GrandT  [author] 28 Apr, 2018 @ 8:47am
No problem, it's a bit of a beast to get running (the save game, not this map). Good luck! :)
wabbithunta 28 Apr, 2018 @ 7:36am
What a silly old sod I am.. Forgot to even click on the "show more". lol
Done it now and downloaded it and am going to add it to my folder.

Also I've already got quite a few of the mods in your list already, added the ones I was missing earlier on today. I'm currently tinkering with the NYC-Westchester map (No industries) a nice "long map". Will put on hold and take a look at yours now.
Thanks again GrandT.
GrandT  [author] 28 Apr, 2018 @ 7:09am
You'll need to click "Show More", then it's towards the bottom above the Transport Fever image, "Current Save Game". Then a tinyurl.
wabbithunta 28 Apr, 2018 @ 6:49am
Can't see the link you mention on Episode 17 description..have I've gone word blind...? lol
GrandT  [author] 27 Apr, 2018 @ 8:36am
@seal There are plans for a more complete MML map. This does have some, it's a shame I couldn't get further in to the Midlands.

@wabbithunta Thanks for watching! Episode 17 has the save game linked in the description. It'll take some loading as there are a bunch of mods installed. I think I'll tidy that up for the next series.
wabbithunta 27 Apr, 2018 @ 8:30am
I was watching your map making video on YouTube, and just out of interest, I was wondering if you have a saved game version of the map you were making and if so, would you or have you uploaded it for others to use?
1ak0nia 21 Apr, 2018 @ 12:34am
Please do a MML maybe all the way to Nottingham or Derby? I'm working on some East Midlands Trains for a map like that. Thanks, Seal.
Cent [LOSC] 20 Apr, 2018 @ 10:41am
That's a fantastic idea! I'll keep an eye out for my area :)
GrandT  [author] 19 Apr, 2018 @ 1:49pm
I do intend to cover the major routes (ECML, MML, WCML, etc) and cross country routes. By the end they should all overlap to have every part of the UK covered.
Cent [LOSC] 19 Apr, 2018 @ 11:27am
Any plans to produce a Midlands area Map ? or LondonMidland route map??
TrainswithNick 1 Apr, 2018 @ 1:38pm
One thing to be sure of is that you have edited your game config file to enable experimental map sizes. A quick google search will explain which line to change, but it really isn't scary or complicated.
GrandT  [author] 1 Apr, 2018 @ 8:22am
Usually that means there isn't enough available RAM and/or VRAM. I'm not entirely sure which is the main factor, it could be a combination of the two, I would lean to VRAM.
Jon_Ansell29 1 Apr, 2018 @ 7:21am
Tell me if im being an idiot but when i load the mod in and start the map an error comes up saying the maximum pixels have been exceeded? please help
GrandT  [author] 21 Mar, 2018 @ 8:01am
Sweet! Thank you. I can't wait to see your map :)
TrainswithNick 21 Mar, 2018 @ 7:56am
I'd be very happy for you to use my idea, that is exactly how I am using them, having a crossover and zigzag cargo station at the end, so trains can run up to them and flip back, exactly like portals in train sim.

I just did a crazy laying session, stations are placed as far as Welwyn Garden city now, (albeit simplified straight 4 track line between them for now,) I have to do the school run before I can continue though
GrandT  [author] 21 Mar, 2018 @ 6:54am
Oh good idea! Mind if I use that for my version of the Map? I like that - as not all trains stop at Grantham etc. That way those fake stations could act like portals.
TrainswithNick 21 Mar, 2018 @ 6:51am
I meant to say btw, if you ever want to use any of my screenshots for this mod, you are more than welcome to without asking for specific permission :)
TrainswithNick 21 Mar, 2018 @ 6:49am
Yep, played with it again and realised it was the correct one, not the most intuitive one to use, until you get used to it at least.
Right now, I'm playing around, thinking of having a "fake" station at the North end of the map in the Newark area, just so trains can progress north of Grantham, I've already done similar in the Creek Rd area of March, so trains aren't reversing in the station.
GrandT  [author] 21 Mar, 2018 @ 5:26am
That is the Advanced Stations mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=907869608 . Very useful if not a little janky at times.
TrainswithNick 21 Mar, 2018 @ 5:12am
Heya, would it be possible for you to list the station mods you have installed please as I seem to be missing some, in particular the one that allows you to recreate stations such as St Neots with it's double island configuration. (It may be a case that it isn't unlocked in 1902, which would be disappointing for me).
Shakespeare 17 Mar, 2018 @ 5:21pm
@GrandT Lovely stuff - I look forward to taking a look after the performance patch.
GrandT  [author] 17 Mar, 2018 @ 4:32pm
My home town being Peterborough and some of my family living in Newark, means Grantham was always a place on my radar. Especially with the ECML!
Shakespeare 17 Mar, 2018 @ 4:25pm
Grantham. My home town. Weird to see it pop up on the Steam page.

Bravo.
GrandT  [author] 16 Mar, 2018 @ 2:44pm
There's a link to the my save game in the YouTube video description above. You'll need to add all the mods when loading it for the first time.
Jumanji_GRE 16 Mar, 2018 @ 10:45am
im sorry for asking so many questions but is there a chance of you uploading the edited version (with tracks and stuff)
GrandT  [author] 16 Mar, 2018 @ 2:24am
It's a base map (just towns, and the 2 industries). The screenshots are of my work on the map and what can be achieved. I may include other peoples screenshots too if they wish to pass them along. :)
Jumanji_GRE 15 Mar, 2018 @ 10:58pm
There are no tracks or anything when i load it
GrandT  [author] 14 Mar, 2018 @ 2:57am
@SlimNasty Yup, this is one.

@Tordenskjold It works ok on my system, although towns are physically limited in growth.

@nickbrad82 Good hear, glad you're enjoying it. You might be alright as if you limit town growth.
TrainswithNick 13 Mar, 2018 @ 7:56am
I have uploaded 4 screenshots of work so far on the map, I am loving it so far, even if i did forget to edit the number of towns......
Tordenskjold 12 Mar, 2018 @ 9:00am
In about 100 years we will have a computer that can run this - 71 towns are madnes
SlimNasty™ 12 Mar, 2018 @ 8:45am
So this is what you lot were discussing in stream :steamhappy:
GrandT  [author] 11 Mar, 2018 @ 4:19pm
