I can't find Archimedes in the files. I want to change his ability from 5% to 15%.

Fleming should go to Scientists!

Hi, man. If ever you were to add more Engineers (why I would; I think they are some of the most interesting, useful, and powerful GPs, therefore making Great Engineers worth the pursuit) I go with a couple more that do the basic 'points for wonders' bonus. I find it so handy (and sometimes necessary) to have those guys to complete a wonder I have my heart set on, before the evil AI beats me to it, which it so often does on the highest settings.Know what I'm saying?

Love this series, man. Thanks for making these. Are they all working just fine after all Firaxis's updates and fiddles?

Came looking at mods for Engineers after taking Mimar Sinan whilst playing as Frederick Barbarosa. There's a (bug/glitch/open man-hole) in that his culture bomb doesn't work for any civ that doesn't use the vanilla Industrial Zone. Perhaps you'd consider modding that guy as well? :steamhappy:
Jerps 16 Feb, 2021 @ 12:19pm
Any chance you could make the Leonardo Da Vinci artist change as a separate, smaller mod?
NCCraftBeer 22 Aug, 2020 @ 8:35am
Any chance of making the improvements they build not pillageable? I just had my Industrial district sabotaged by a spy and now it will take 79 turns to repair Gutenberg's Workshop. Effectively either eliminating it or that city from production for a LONG time.

Does anyone know if this mod series causing conflicts? trying to troubleshoot my game.
Dr Sin 12 May, 2019 @ 2:05pm
Cheers AOM, wasn't sure if it was a deliberate thing as a workaround to take the wonder out the game if not looked after/protected properly, or just a glitch caused by all the mods i use. Have stopped trying to repair Gutenburg's workshop in my current game and the repair time seems to go up every few turns, so glad i didn't waste production trying to fix the unfixable!

Unpillagable sounds ok, if no way to adjust the repair time to be reasonable, although being able to pillage these is sometimes a nice gameplay touch for both player and AI.

Cheers for the damn good mods.

Hi Dr Sin, the issue you're pointing out was unintended, and we plan to fix it. Right now, when I receive a great person that builds a structure in a city center or district, I place a spy in that area before having the person build the building. This workaround works most of the time, although, sadly, not always. Our first thought is to make these structures like other wonders - un-pillagable. If that does not work properly, we'll find another way. I find it most annoying to have this burning thing in my city that I cannot repair in a timely fashion.
Dr Sin 12 May, 2019 @ 11:32am
PS, i usually play using the 'historic' game time mod, which may be where the problem comes from. Cheers
Dr Sin 12 May, 2019 @ 11:28am
When enemy spies damage an industrial zone containing Gutenburg's workshop or Itaipu dam etc, why are the repair costs/times ~3-5 times that of building a new wonder in the same city? Is there any way to change this? Ideally repair would be about the cost of building a new wonder at most. Cheers.

@thecraftybee it does seem to work with Eleanor's bonus. Having 2 great works of science exerted 2 loyalty on my neighboring city. Moving them to another city removed the loyalty exertion.
AOM  [author] 16 Feb, 2019 @ 11:33pm
Hi thecraftybee, we just got the expansion about half an hour ago, so I do not know the answer to your question yet.
thecraftybee 16 Feb, 2019 @ 10:58pm
Do the scientific and engineering Great Works count towards Eleanor's bonus?

Mod updated for the GS patch (so it will not cause a warning).

Just found yesterday-It also works on religion belief that let's you buy science buildings. You can buy some of the unique wonders and get 11+K credit before they are even available.
AOM  [author] 2 Aug, 2018 @ 8:27pm
Hi Stormlad, thanks for letting us know. We've never run into this. We'll take a look at this and see if we can fix it.
Stormlad 1 Aug, 2018 @ 1:57am
BUG/EXPLOIT=With City State Valetta's ability to faith-buy city centre buildings I can buy several of the engineer-based wonders for faith. But, what makes it really an exploit is each of these (like the Railway or Central Park) are bought with over 11K NEGATIVE faith... so after you buy one you end up with the wonder AND 11K+ faith to spend on something else. Hope this will be fixed. Thanks, love the changes otherwise! Nice mod.

@Rincewind, Yet another inarticulate post. Not only do you need to do some research, you need to learn how to communicate meaningful points. A person's nationality has nothing to do with the strength of their arguments. On the other hand, actually presenting a well-constructed statement that is on-topic does.
Rincewind 18 Jul, 2018 @ 4:57pm
@AOM must be american
AOM  [author] 18 Jul, 2018 @ 4:23pm
@Rincewind, I'm assuming that you're joking, but your post is so inarticulate, that it's difficult to tell. If you do a bit of research, you will find Leonardo on many, if not most, lists of the greatest painters of all time. His contribution to art and his influence on other artists was enormous.

Meanwhile, Wiki quotes this from his biographer, Capra, about his gifts as a great engineer: "He made substantial discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, geology, optics, and hydrodynamics, but he did not publish his findings, and they had no direct influence on later science."
The important point being, he did not publish any of his writing about subjects having to do with engineering and did not influence the development of engineering.

Thus, Leonardo is far better known as a great painter (a field where he made substantial contributions) than as a great engineer (a field where his contribution is questionable at best).

All of that said, if you don't like the mod, don't use it.
MigGui 17 Jul, 2018 @ 6:35pm
Really? Da Vinci is definitely more recognized as an artist than an engineer, even though he was both (and a scientist as well). He could be any of these three great people, but while his bonus as an engineer can be given to someone else, no one else can be credited as the painter of Mona Lisa.
Rincewind 17 Jul, 2018 @ 11:32am
Leonardo da Vinci was moved from the Great Engineer section to the Great Artist section and gives three paintings.

???

Thats retarded, please do some research.
AOM  [author] 1 Jul, 2018 @ 3:13pm
@dannyboy2016 and saltyZebra, we've addressed the space race and late game production issues by adding two new great people (well, a great person and a great team).
@[SSC Borealis], we encountered the same issue that you had with the Banu Musa. The problem occurs if your nation has built the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus due to how the mod is implemented. We're still searching for a solution. At this point, all I can say is, if you've built the Mausoleum, you should pass on the Banu Musa because they will not work.
AOM  [author] 25 May, 2018 @ 1:24pm
Hi saltyZebra, we can look into adding an atomic era Great Engineer (the era von Braun was actually from) who provides overall production. We would probably use a different person though because von Braun's career was so specifically geared toward space race type projects. We would pick someone who had more to do with overall production instead.
saltyZebra 25 May, 2018 @ 12:44pm
Hey great mod! I was wondering if instead of braun being removed, he could be altered to boost production towards all district projects? If all of them would be over powered then maybe just the space and nuclear projects.
AOM  [author] 13 May, 2018 @ 9:35am
Hi [SSC] Borealis, I'm really glad to hear it's working now. The reason the great works the scientists and Banu Musa give are relics is that if they were normal great books, they would theme with the other great books, and the library slots we made for them would also be able to hold great works of writing.

We did not want scientific works to theme with cultural works. We also didn't want to make library slots that hold great works of writing (that would make them like amphitheaters). Thus, we made the great science and engineering works non-theming relics instead even though it is possible to make them just like the great works of writing with benefits other than culture/tourism (that's what we tried first, and we didn't like the resulting mix with the culture books).
Borealis 13 May, 2018 @ 7:44am
So, four things.

First, it works. I have no idea why it didnt work the first time.
Second, the great scientists always gave the works.
Third, it cant be a mod conflict: it worked after i activated even more mods and didnt deactivated any.
And fourth, this is more like an idea, the great works these people give are yet artifacts. But i think they are more suited to be writings? Like, the "Book of Ingenious Devices" seems more of a book rather than an artifact. I know this is somehow possible, the "rule with faith" mod by JFD gives a new writing as well.
AOM  [author] 12 May, 2018 @ 6:00am
Hi SSC] Borealis, I'm not sure what could be causing that (it never happened when testing the mod before upload). Do you have the Equally Great Scientists mod in? If so, does the same thing happen with the special books the scientists give? I'm also wondering if it could be a mod conflict. Have you tried it with no other mods in to see if that's the issue?

Hi MigGui, We can back Fleming's reward down. +5 is a bit high, especially if you have the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. Yeah, when we saw where they had DaVinci we were like, you took a man who is considered by many to be the greatest artist who ever lived and you put him where?
MigGui 10 May, 2018 @ 5:03pm
Even though Fleming is in a late era, isn't +5 population to a city kind of overpowered?
Btw, thank you for moving Da Vinci to great artist, although probably one of the most versatile geniouses of all time, Da Vinci is way more popular as an artist than as an inventor. Best case scenario for me would be him being both, but that is obviously nonsensical :P
Borealis 10 May, 2018 @ 4:17am
Banu Musa didnt give me her great work when i used her :/ Any idea why?
AOM  [author] 4 May, 2018 @ 3:56pm
She is really great, and, as you say, very unrecognized. Neither of us knew about her contribution before researching this mod, but once we found out about her, we felt she had to be here. Her work made a lot of things possible. Thanks for posting :)
BaldBill 4 May, 2018 @ 3:31pm
Thanks for adding Hedy Lamarr, very unrecognized for what she did. Her contributions to radios has been incredible.
AOM  [author] 4 May, 2018 @ 9:54am
Hi dannyboy2016, the goal of this mod was to make all the great engineers equally great regardless of which victory type the player wants to achieve. For that reason, we wanted production provided by an engineer to be versatile instead of targeted at space race projects.

The two engineers you've mentioned were individuals who pursued space-related careers, so it was difficult to think of something for them to do that wasn't focused on the space race. For that reason, we removed them and included people like Gutenberg, Brunel, and the Banu Musa instead.

The aim was to make it so any player would be happy to earn the person rather than having people grudgingly take a great person only to stop an opponent from achieving a space race victory. We avoided complete space-racer elimination by leaving Korolev (in spite of the temptation to remove him too).
dannyboy2016 30 Apr, 2018 @ 8:20pm
Why did you remove Goddard and von Braun?
