Don't use Notepad++ for coding. Use Brackets. It's technically a web development platform, but it has context hightlighting for pretty much all commonly used languages, a library of really useful addons and a bunch of quality of life improvements over a traditional text editor.

Notepad++ is a great program for quickly reading through code, but if you're going to be serious about writing code, use Brackets.

@Kaosu I personally use Paint Dot Net to do sprite work. If you're looking for tutorials on how to make mods, plenty of those can be found on YouTube. For coding, use NotePad++.
