This process below is NOT a 'fix' - it's a hack - it forces that race to be considered a vampire at all times, regardless of wether they actually have vampirism or it's related powers. The way it actually works is there are 2 races for each race that can be vampire - the normal and vamp version - so there is nord and vampnord, argonian and vamparg, etc. The game literally changes you from one race to the other during play using scripts and quest markers.
Adding the keyword does not make you a vampire, or give you vampire powers - it just makes the game think you are one. The actual fix to allow a custom race to become a vampire, and properly change back and forth as designed requires editing several base game scripts, and quests - so it will not be done here. You are free to hack your own install all you want.
Step 9) all you have to do here is to find the text field in this new window witch should be located on the right corner with a tittle "Keywords" go there right click in the empty column select "Add" and type the word "vampire" into the filter. It will find a reference called "vampire" click on it, click on OK and this reference should be now added to the Keywords field right under the "ActorTypeNPC"
Step 10) close the whole race window by clicking on OK button and save your work
Step 11) Voila!! that's it! Now you can enjoy playing Dawnguard as a vampire with your custom race!!
Simply do this Step 1) Start your Creation Kit.
Step 2) Load Skyrim.esm first so the program won't freeze when saving esp (as it did to me).
Step 3) Click always yes to all if asked. (Don't worry nothing bad will happen it's just Creation Kit bug)
Step 4) Load your custom race esp.
Step 5) set it as an active file (so you will modify the current esp)
Step 6) or don't set it as an active file (so you can duplicate your custom race and make new tweaked esp from it so the original race stays intact)
Step 7) go to the object window click on character and menu will pop up. There find a file called Race and double click it
Hey, i have a really awesome and similar mod idea for you
I felt insulted when another Argonian called me "Land walker"
You won't be recognized as vampire. Had to swich back to good old Argonian using 'setplayerrace argonianracevampire'
:D love teh mod btw!
My friend made a really fun quest mod with custom voice acting, an archery range, and lots of cool and unique game elements! It is also a player home, new items and armor, combat mannequins that will level any skill - even a sommonable Ghost Dragon to chomp on your enemies!
