@Stormcrow You completely failed to mention the actual killer of Carrhae, the Parthian cataphracts. The horse archers did fine work, but only some historians claim that their bows were so powerful, and personally speaking, they'd have to be way too close for comfort for that kind of power consistently, even a horse wouldn't get them out of that proximity without a great many archers having died, no the real problem at Carrhae was the commander's lack of confidence to such a degree he failed to act, preferring to stay locked in a hollow square, with the infantry formed up into a testudo, which made them insanely easy to hit with a mass of horse and rider in full armor. Many more men died on the lance that day then by arrow, make no mistake on that.
OZA 13 Aug, 2022 @ 10:40am
Is this compatible with DeI?
Yenza 30 Jan, 2022 @ 10:41am
Hello Gorgulla, I'm working on a project where I would like to include this mod. Please let me know when you have the time for a chat about this.
Fredo Santana 14 Jan, 2022 @ 10:10pm
This 100% is no longer working for me, im using the ancient combat mod as well but there is no change when using this mod compared to vanilla
damianvincent 19 Dec, 2021 @ 5:16pm
And most of the killing took place after the battle as the Roman's tried to flee, in fact, in numerous instances the partians let pockets of Roman's escape temporarily, just to run them down once they got far enough away from the safety of the formation, as it became easier to kill them that way. That's exactly how they lost their standards that day.
damianvincent 19 Dec, 2021 @ 5:13pm
Lets be nice about this. There are stories of legionaries with 30 plus javelins stuck in their shields after battles. Try De Bello Gallico, It's Julius Caesar's personal account of the Gallic wars and you'll learn just how protective those shield actually were.
hektor95 11 Dec, 2021 @ 3:40am
@stormcrow. That's utter nonsense. The romans didn't use large shields because they didn't helped against arrows. That's ridiculous.

Then the winged Cataphracts arrived.
Pei 28 Mar, 2020 @ 10:11am
The Romans waited for the battle to end. They waited, and waited, and waited. But the arrows never stopped coming. Many soldiers were being hit in the foot, in a tiny gap where the scutum didnt cover. Eventually they realized the enemy horse archers were going away and resupplying and coming back with more arrows, so they realized they had to make a break for it. However, they failed miserably and the entire army was slaughtered and captured. Battle of Carrhae

Ahhhh, it was noted that Testudo was weak towards heavy calvary charges. They are only effective against archer fire.
kurator84 1 Jun, 2019 @ 1:41pm
With this mod stop working dymamic updating unit stat box when used abylitys boosting damage, attack, def. etc. Maybe this only visual bug, but descent annoying=\ Game version 2.4.0.
Kuronoshi209 16 Nov, 2018 @ 5:44am
So... quick question: How does this compare to those in Ravens Legionary Tactics?
AdamosTomatos  [author] 10 Nov, 2018 @ 5:22am
@Fengxian0830 & @«Lori»™[GER] it should be updated now!
Fengxian0830 9 Nov, 2018 @ 12:20pm
Could you please update this Gorgulla?
GetOut0fMyWay 7 Nov, 2018 @ 12:59pm
Update pls :(
Dunadd 15 Oct, 2018 @ 8:35am
I see - it is a nice mod all the same
AdamosTomatos  [author] 15 Oct, 2018 @ 4:16am
dmcf That's very true, atm it only affects hit-chance from arrows, not the movement speed and such.
Dunadd 14 Oct, 2018 @ 9:32am
That does look more accurate, but tbh historical evidence shows testudos were only used in sieges. They would be fine to protect against missile attacks, but there is no way any unit could move more than very slowly, or fight in melee, in testudo
A Curse Of Baal 13 Oct, 2018 @ 9:11am
is this compatible with radious?
💜Nicole 9 Sep, 2018 @ 9:11pm
testudo is tank of human shield:D best formation
Уильям 16 Aug, 2018 @ 12:12am
Is there any possibility of making a turtle as large as in AttIla TW?
don947 15 Aug, 2018 @ 6:41am
Updating again I love this however if you get hit in sides or rear bye bye, so not OP.
RadRipRepRepublicRebelTrooper 12 Aug, 2018 @ 4:29am
thanks..
AdamosTomatos  [author] 12 Aug, 2018 @ 4:25am
Yes it affects AI too if they are using this formation. So there's no advantage to neither one.
RadRipRepRepublicRebelTrooper 12 Aug, 2018 @ 4:23am
does the roman ai get this too, if im playing another faction..
Quimble 10 Aug, 2018 @ 5:55am
I mean technically Augustus was given the name of Caesar since he was adopted by Caesar, making him Caesars successor. "Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus"
Toronto Mans 9 Aug, 2018 @ 8:39pm
Does not seem to work with DEI, at least for me.
SentinelAntioch 9 Aug, 2018 @ 7:26pm
@Waresky Varrus was under Augustus' rule, not Caesar's.
AdamosTomatos  [author] 9 Aug, 2018 @ 12:01pm
Mod updated so the explanation mark is gone!

@Waresky No problem!
Waresky 9 Aug, 2018 @ 7:34am
@Maycroft . With 30 Legion (230.000 men ca) control from pacific to Syria..from North Africa to England at the top power Era..but not even so "easy". 3 Legions lost into German ambush (under Varo command-Cesar time) and 9 Legions lost in Parthia confrontation..
Waresky 9 Aug, 2018 @ 7:31am
@Gorgulla Ty so much for explain. Good work anyway
AdamosTomatos  [author] 9 Aug, 2018 @ 6:50am
@Waresky problably a bug with the launcher, you can see that the mod is updated 4th august ( top right ).
Also, the mod is compatible with any patch, I will update the mod again as soon as the new patch is out here where I live.
AdamosTomatos  [author] 9 Aug, 2018 @ 6:40am
@Maycroft There's a reason why romans took over most of the world :)
Maycroft 9 Aug, 2018 @ 5:17am
well, romans are already "quite" owerpowered in terms of heavy infantry, so thanks for giving them another literally inpenetrable formation :)
don947 9 Aug, 2018 @ 3:47am
To be honest I prefer it working than being fancy and not working, also the historical accuracy is great I honestly never looked into that.
Waresky 9 Aug, 2018 @ 3:26am
@Gorgulla are u sure its DEI compatible?...and i show ur mod r "old"...(!) r all ok?
Ragnar 9 Aug, 2018 @ 1:33am
Any way you can have the offensive Testudo to be broader rather then a narrow line?
Aechcylous 8 Aug, 2018 @ 8:27pm
Some of you guys need to re-read what the mod does. It doesn't add a "side shield" to the testudo. It just decreases the hit-chance while in that formation.
InfiniteFantasy 8 Aug, 2018 @ 9:02am
thx for your answer, but i only have three mods:no agents,no civil war and better camera,i have no idea, dude
AdamosTomatos  [author] 8 Aug, 2018 @ 6:44am
@InfiniteFantasy it should work, make sure no other mod does the same thing.
InfiniteFantasy 8 Aug, 2018 @ 1:20am
why not work?
Waresky 7 Aug, 2018 @ 9:23pm
Side never because ...other Centuriae or Cohort are link, join, togheter.
Waresky 7 Aug, 2018 @ 9:22pm
Side (left or right) never happen in REAL historical description on "testudo". Only top and front. Good work.
Waresky 7 Aug, 2018 @ 9:20pm
Ohhhhhhhhhh at LAST 1 men know HOW work a testudo. Ty for this "simple" re-work.
Sae La Vie 7 Aug, 2018 @ 1:24pm
Will try this out in custom..
