Very cool, and in Magna Graikia, having some Hellenic culture as well, which remained so until the middle ages, in Sicily Greek was even made the official language of the Norman Kingdom of Sicily

Oatman 2 Dec, 2021 @ 10:54pm
Works perfectly fine. As the description says, wait one turn and the cultures will start showing up.

Can I borrow the Jewish symbol for my mod?
Euer Hochwürgen 18 Apr, 2019 @ 5:20pm
Is it correct that this Mod doesnt work with DeI / Realism or am I doing something wrong?
Elliot_Ostrand 16 Mar, 2019 @ 8:45pm
Do the Jewish rebels have unique units, I know there are some mods out there both for jewish units and the new dlc has saminite units.
Alkio 21 Jan, 2019 @ 7:06am
I second the suggestion of adding Buddhism considering how king Menander I of Bactria converted to Buddhism later in his life.
Culain 22 Nov, 2018 @ 11:18am
Buddhism in Bactria! Would be cool if totally compatible with Greek culture, somehow complimenting eachother when under bactrian rule.
scottfree001 3 Nov, 2018 @ 5:02pm
I love the Monty Python reference :)
ToonTotalWar 30 Sep, 2018 @ 12:49pm

Boicote  [author] 30 Sep, 2018 @ 12:47pm
@ToonTotalWar
Yes, sure. It's an honour :).

Keep in mind that I plan to update the mod to include at least two new cultures.
ToonTotalWar 30 Sep, 2018 @ 11:43am
May i request permission to use this mod in "Wars of the Gods" and full credit will be given, thank you?
Boicote  [author] 30 Sep, 2018 @ 8:16am
@Ionized Odds
It's possible, but I'm afraid it's necessary to create new mod specifically for those maps. Or else, these cultures will also appear in the Augustus campaign.
Phasmomancer 29 Sep, 2018 @ 6:56am
Any way to get this working with the "Grand Campaign on Imperator Augustus map" mods?
Alka 19 Sep, 2018 @ 6:12am
da 6 gorrilian
Alcartagena 15 Sep, 2018 @ 9:37pm
Pls add caucasian culture
M.I.B. 6 Sep, 2018 @ 8:20am
I would suggest chaldean/babylonian culture as the Assyrians were extincted till the last child at 604 BC.
Benjin 6 Sep, 2018 @ 8:11am
@Boicote
To spice up the Easterns a bit culturally, yeah that sounds like a good idea. Is there any kind of eastern culture group or civilization that pre-dates Zoroastrianism (which is what the current "Eastern" culture centers around, what with fire temples etc) that could be considered its own thing around that time to represent all of those religions / cultures as one group?

Just reading a little bit online about it, maybe "Assyrian" could be a good one since "Assyriology" is the study of all cultures originating in Mesopotamia that used cuneiform writing (Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian etc). I also read that the Mesopotamian cultures (labelled as a whole as "Assyrian" or "Syriac") started out in ancient Sumer (4,500 BC) and lasted as a major culture until the 7th Century AD, and were not necessarily Zoroastrian. I'm not entirely sure about the details, as it's a study that's still being research today that I'm not familiar with.
Boicote  [author] 6 Sep, 2018 @ 7:49am
I would also like to include at least one new culture arround Mesopotamia but I'm not sure which culture should I choose. Perhaps the Assyrians? Babylonians? Persians? I'm not sure...
Boicote  [author] 6 Sep, 2018 @ 7:36am
I liked the suggestion to include proto-Slavs in the mod. I will consider this suggestion in future updates.
Benjin 5 Sep, 2018 @ 9:40am
@Marcus_Iunius_Brutus
Yeah, I don't mind what it's called - I just think the area(s) around Sarmatia should get some forgotten culture love.
MIHANECUS 4 Sep, 2018 @ 11:40pm
Campaign Augusta , ED ?
M.I.B. 3 Sep, 2018 @ 12:50am
As the Aestii as baltic tribe are already in the game, a baltic culture in Sarmatia would make more sense. ;)
Benjin 2 Sep, 2018 @ 2:46pm
Inspired by your addition of India and the Nuragics, I think maybe at least one more "forgotten" culture could potentially be implemented into the area around Eastern Europe. Perhaps "Pomeranian" or just generally "Proto-Slavic" to the regions of Suebia (low influence), Silesia (high influence) and Sarmatia (high influence)? It always feels wrong seeing those areas simply labelled as "Germanic" when it clearly wasn't entirely Germanic back around that time.
Boicote  [author] 31 Aug, 2018 @ 3:43pm
Updated:
- added a new culture: Indian
- new icon for Judaic culture
Boicote  [author] 30 Aug, 2018 @ 6:58pm
@ everyone
Great suggestions! I will consider some of them in future updates.

@Sanakan
If these cultures are implemeted in the GC based on IA map, they will also appear in the IA campaign...

@PolterJochen
I used the hexagram because of....my ignorance. I didn't know this was a medieval symbol. I will change that in future updates. Thanks for the info.
PolterJochen 30 Aug, 2018 @ 7:57am
@Boicote Why have you decided to take the hexagram as the symbol for Judaism? The hexagram is an ancient widespread magic symbol and only became the national symbol of Judaism in the middle ages. For antiquity it would be more believable to use the Menorah instead, as it was done in Total War Attila for Himyar.

I would love to see a Minoan Culture, like to be able to roleplay as Minoan Crete!
ploth15 25 Aug, 2018 @ 5:42pm
This is a great idea
yk 24 Aug, 2018 @ 11:32pm
understand
Sanakan 24 Aug, 2018 @ 2:58pm
Very nice. Is it possible to make it compatible with the Grand Campaign in IA map mod, Boicote?
Shoogy 23 Aug, 2018 @ 4:25pm
Just on an update with the cultural affinity bug, onj Grand Campaign both Egypt and Cyranaica have desert culture, but have a negative cultural affinity penalty. Whereas in the Empire Divided campaign, Picts and Brittania who share a cultural affinity bonus even though they shouldn't.
Minnesotan Droogie 23 Aug, 2018 @ 4:07pm
I have some ideas for cultures. They are:
-Celto-Germanic
-Mesopotamian
-Phoenician
-Palmyrene
-Indian (in Arachosia)
-Celtiberian
-Libyan
-Anatolian

Another idea that I have is that, when it comes to edicts, it would cool if the player would be given the option to support a local culture. An example would be if the player is playing as Egypt, and if they want to spread the Egyptian culture, they can select the edict that will cultivate growth of the culture.
Boicote  [author] 23 Aug, 2018 @ 8:24am
@Teddy
As I said in the "known issues" section, it's possible to change the Etruscan culture, however, that implies changing the "startpos.esf" file, and this would compromise mod compatibility (ex. it would interfere with 4TPY mods, faction unlocker mods, etc...)

@[HAN]yk
Parthia and Armenia are already playable factions. If I add the Armenian or Parthian cultures into this mod, then I would have to change the "startpos.esf" file. Or else, Armenians and Parthians would have de default "Eastern" culture and their population would be Armenian/Parthian.

@Renata Bliss Há 16 horas
Hmmm....
Are you sure? I didn’t make any change in the celtic nor in the latin culture. I will investigate this issue.
Boicote  [author] 23 Aug, 2018 @ 8:24am
@phantbat
I already included the Egyptians in the Emperor Augustus campaign (they replace the default Desert Culture in Egypt). Jews are also included but they are much less influential than in the Grand Campaign (because the Jewish Diaspora has already started in 44 BC). The Nuragics, Etruscans and Samnited were not included because, according to my research, by this time they were already assimilated by the Romans.

@Ballo
Could you give me some examples?

@Jcpsr
Great Idea!!
I will add the Vascones in the next update!
I will also add some Greek influence in the eastern Iberian Peninsula to represent the Greek colonies in this regions.
TeddY 23 Aug, 2018 @ 12:22am
Is it not possible to change the Etruscan league's culture into Etruscan?
yk 22 Aug, 2018 @ 6:25pm
Can increase Armenian culture and Parthian culture
Shoogy 22 Aug, 2018 @ 3:50pm
Hey mate, for some reason there is an interesting bug between Celtic and Latin cultures, where they are given diplomatic bonuses for cultural affinities.

I haven't seen this bug in other factions but it could be worth double-checking unintended diplomatic effects.

Great idea with the mod, thanks mate.
Eric the Red 22 Aug, 2018 @ 12:56pm
@Boicote could you make a version for Imperator Augustus?
ballo 22 Aug, 2018 @ 5:24am
you could definitely do the different nomadic tribes because currently they're all just "Scythian." I've done some research in the past and there's much more to them than that.
