This is seriously one of the most unique maps I've played and I can't think of anything I can even compare it with
Seconding Mystic Monkey, this rules
bobboy  [author] 19 May, 2020 @ 1:31pm
It has an AI net, which accounts for NPC pathing.

Ay does this bad boy have nodes?

Was looking for this map for ages. Love the mood

I liked the atmosphere and how much there was to explore of it. I thought I explored it all, then I found a street to explore. I like exploring. Even with no_clip I am not sure I explored every crevice of the place.
While I usually complain about maps that are too dark, the red fog gives the map ambience along with the darkness which is a nice touch.
I hope someday you'll consider an rp_stonewalls_v3 of the map because I am curious of the direction you were going with it. There were boarded up doors which I was curious about and those spikes make me question their origin. You laid the ground work of a mystery that intrigued me to find an answer. The whole map gives me "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" vibes.
Finish or not, good map overall to explore.

The laser thing in the bunker by the spikes is something I couldn't get working before I cut off work on the map completely. The spikes are to be a slow and torturous death for whoever explores it.

Fun fact, the number on the wall is how many spikes there are.

There was planned to be an objective to 'escape' the map, but I wasn't able to get it working before the cut-off point.

If you're talking about the laser thing in the lab like area, that's a completed area that was supposed to have an impact on the escape... Which I never got working.

Other than those points about the map being incomplete, what did you like and dislike about the map, if I may know?
Mystic Monkey 29 Oct, 2019 @ 8:59pm
I did enjoy the map. But I felt like I should be doing something given those mysterious spikes and the laser thing. Was there some sort of mystery or objective or is it purely just explorational?

thanks!

whats the filepath for the ambient sound used?
bobboy  [author] 11 Mar, 2019 @ 5:32pm
Yeah, I couldn't get the gun working before I cut off working on the map entirely.

Also, the only ambient sound I added is the atmospheric loop (though you can hear some machinery), so the fact that you hear movement by which I assume watered footsteps is slightly disturbing but completely in line with what went into making the map.

I really liked the bunker section with the spikes rising out of the ground; but for me the gun didn't actually fire anything; shooting it just made the map shake. The ambient noises also kept me on edge, kept hearing movement.

Thanks.
Anything I could improve on?
What are some parts you liked more than others?
What did you think was clever or stupid about the map?
Fudall 9 Mar, 2019 @ 6:14pm
The eerie atmosphere, the fog .
bobboy  [author] 9 Mar, 2019 @ 5:21pm
How so, Fudall?
Fudall 9 Mar, 2019 @ 2:28am
Reminds me of the Sierre Madre

Ok, thanks for letting me know
bobboy  [author] 7 Nov, 2018 @ 5:06pm
That is almost at that edge of the map, yes. You can jump out the windows and go a little further, but not much further, to the edge of the map.
Grodbert 7 Nov, 2018 @ 2:53am
Im not talking about that one. Im talking about the warehouse-like building that has something similar to an office on the top floor. There's a chair in there impaled on one of those wierd black spikes.
bobboy  [author] 6 Nov, 2018 @ 4:59pm
The map is somewhat non-linear, and if you're talking about the warehouse-like building with an instant-death laser, then no it does not end there. You can open the flood gates from the builfing on the other side. The next part you might get stuck on is the physics-bridge thing, which does not open (usually) if pressed against. This can be opened instead by pushing with your gravity gun, or physics gun, as it is hinged to allow movement.
Grodbert 6 Nov, 2018 @ 11:24am
Does... dpes the map just end in that warehouse like building with the computer? The one with the crazy red energy cable?
Isopropophlex 4 Nov, 2018 @ 4:35pm
reminds me of the violence district in LSD dream emulator
bobboy  [author] 31 Oct, 2018 @ 12:56pm
Thanks for the comments.
The first reason I had for not having building interiors is related to the first, unreleased and unfinished map. That had no interiors whatsoever, and gave the vibe that only those outside the buildings were saved from instant death in whatever happened to twist the world into what it is now.
The second reason, which I found over the course of this map's creation, is that it saved me an awesome amount of time and effort.

However, there are a select few buildings with interiors.

And as a personal request, if you do like the map, please rate it.
If you have any other questions, comments, or concerns (or wish to share what you think are the best and worst parts of the map), I invite you to comment. It's a great way for me to learn and help out.
