Yea, there's a lot of work to do which I'm being pretty slow with at the moment due to other responsibilities. I intend to have 3 finished maps this year.

I just went in and played the map from the steam store. Loading seems like it took longer than it used to, but it's hard to tell. To the best of my knowledge, the map still works fine.

always stcu at the bridge. not stuck as glitched or anything, but rather full of bullets showering that place. it became a stalemate battle once everyone gather around the bridge. nobody was ever be able to go pass the bridge. and also, the wont entered the vehicle somehow.

Maybe put some "abandoned" landing strip/air base somewhere on the opposite side of the island? It'd be nice to have both sides have access to planes.

Awesome map! but there is something that is annoying me, the sky is black instead of the blue cloudy one in the photos for me...

please remove that house at the end of the airport runway, it disrupts some types of airplanes to take off

@Meowkit123 - I don't disagree. The AI behavior has been all over the place and right now it's a bit on the defensive side. I'm experimenting with changes to try to get the both sides to be more agressive in going after the capture points.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Once I get this map and "Mountain Commando Assault" to something close to finished, I'm going to do a CQB map of some sort (I'm investing how to do an underground map). For this map, I need to do many iterations to add better art, put objects on the ground and generally make the game play better. Before taking either of the maps to 1.0, I'll do an optiization pass (especially by replacing the collision geometry with lower poly meshes) and looking at better occlusion methods, such as breaking up the terrain into multiple objects (this is one of the reasons I used a mesh instead of a terrain this time). One area that I'm struggling with is pathfinding - I'm having a hard time getting the AI to go up towers, either the taller guard tower or the air control tower.

As for the open buildings that would be wonderful but indeed the "how" to the engine use is a massive question. I've drawn comparisons to The Long Dark many times because of this. RavenField right now seems to be easily overwhelmed by something in the engine before CPU or GPU gets maxed out. The Long Dark is a killer example of Unity use. Hinterland are freaking code Ninjas and the TLD has crazy object counts and insane draw distances and runs like butter. SteelRaven has to fix the bottle neck before Ravenfield will run as it should. I can add 600 bots on largish maps and my GPU and CPU are still basically sleeping but the game is unplayable. Drop to 50 bots on the same map and I get a lot of the same lag issues to a lesser degree but the problems and bottle necks are all still there. Texture flicker, ADS lag/frame drops, bot speed glitches etc.

I applaud your catch up learning and have to say this is a pretty great start. I do have a few critiques though if you're open to them.

The "downtown" area is way too open and way to grid like. Most city centers there are little alleys or walk ways at best between such large buildings. Scale dem suckers UP! If you can make it less grid like that would also be cool. One thing I see with a lot of urban style maps is the streets (and consequencely buildings) are on a grid which means huge open line of sight areas. If you can stagger and offset a few things here and there it breaks things up in a way that provides more cover (or chit ur pants scares) and doesn't allow you to sit there and snipe from the farthest point of each street.

I noticed you also made a building with a twist ala show piece architecture you should make that sucker one of the biggest buildings so it IS as it is, a show piece. Maybe give it one of those placards like "NXAIN PLAZA"

@clamchoweder - Not yet. I'm debating on how open I can make them before performance goes south. I'm thinking of making the bottom floors much more interesting and partially open with a couple of important buildings having fleshed out interiors as well as much more variation in the buildings. Part of the challenge (for me) is understnading how Ravenfield uses the Unity engine.

Overall very good. Not too laggy I got about 30-45 fps. Default blue side tanks can get stuck at the first bridge sometimes. I recommend taking out 1 or 2 of aa guns. Helos get shot down too easy with 4. Also try making the spawns be more spread out instead of always right next to the flags. Otherwise really good though, kinda reminds me of gta San Andreas.

@Gabe - I made everything in the map except for the skybox and Ravenfield assets. I'm using these maps as a excercise to refresh my way-out-of-date skills with Blender and try different things with Unity3D. In this case, I'm doing everyting with static meshes and without a terrain (which is making loading much faster).
@MyLittleRedPony - I have no way of knowing if the map is laggy for you. I'm running a couple of machines with nVidia 1070s to develop on and rarely see frame lag with Ravenfield. That said, I haven't optimized either of my maps yet (I'm still learning the best method for creating assets) and may not for awhile.
