No Mass Rout

If anyone looking for a port to WH3 - there's a few similar mods that work around unit morale debuffs, such as damage done to army in battle and general being taken down/routed. Feel free to search with key words such as: morale, rout, etc. and they should be seen on first page. Also thanks for many hours gifted to us with this mod, nothing gave me such a joy, then seeing last AI stands of tomb guard, few ushebti and their tomb king defending choke point from hordes of approaching scaven, made the most enjoyable and cinematic battles I could ever hope for :kovackiss:

Does any one know if the author looking to port this to 3rd game?
jtoetoe11 7 Dec, 2022 @ 1:13pm
I would love to try this out in Warhammer 3

UPDATE MOD I CANT PLAY !
:shcflag::shflag:
Zhukoid 22 May, 2021 @ 2:56am
Used it for a year and gotta say that it still works without update needed and is compatible with pretty much with any mode (additionally use 60+), even those that change stats (like SFO for example). No crashes, no weird bugs have been yet found personally. Can't live without it at this point, I'm addicted to chasing down rats with cavalry.. :meadowfox:

P.S. it seems some mods dont ever need updates, cuz new content dosent change anything they touch, which most often true for cosmetic ones.
The Wriggler 4 May, 2021 @ 11:26pm
I take it this needs to be updated
Rustic Clover 11 Feb, 2021 @ 2:13am
Does this buff leadership period? It seems to just make units not break at all, not just NOT mass rout. And killing leaders or routing them doesn't seem to change a damn thing.

@Debby
Usually the people asking for an update don't even bother testing. They see it says out of date on the launcher and rush to demand an update. Most mods the launcher says "out of date" for still work fine.
chrisslol1 6 Feb, 2021 @ 11:46pm
subscribed gonna test in a bit

Everyone's saying to update, but has anyone checked if it actually isn't working anymore?

love this mod first of all, but is there are wait to make a slightly less mass rout, seem to get generals who wont flee when they are the last unit standing or having to chase down a hardy group of spearmen who dont realise they should be running away
animedino79 15 Jan, 2020 @ 12:03pm
why not get rid of routing entirely? kill every last one is my motto of war
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 6 Jan, 2020 @ 3:49pm
@Necropants Thanks for the compliment - I gave it the rubber stamp, and also slightly increased the morale drop immediately after your general dies. I felt like that was a good change to add to realism and also to stop the hunting down of barely alive units that can happen at the ends of battles with this mod. There isn't really a reason for them to come back if the army is mostly dead and the general just died.
Necropants 6 Jan, 2020 @ 2:43am
Thanks for the clarification, it changes the game for sure, just wasn't certain if it was working correctly. Calvary are definitely needed.... Please keep this mod supported I don't think there is an alternative.
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 8:26am
It's still working I just need to give it the rubber stamp of an 'update' when I get around to it
Necropants 4 Jan, 2020 @ 5:22pm
Update pleeeeease
dreadedladie 6 Nov, 2019 @ 2:14pm
This mod is so awesome!
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 2 Nov, 2019 @ 2:38pm
@Ire Thank you for your input - I have lowered my increase by about half to find a good middle ground as I see good points in what you are saying. I don't want the change to be too intrusive or for lord sniping to win a battle on its own. It should help a lot, but it shouldn't be an overwhelming aid, primarily because the AI isn't smart enough to handle their lords. Thank you for your comment!
Ire 30 Oct, 2019 @ 7:57pm
While I mostly like the new change, I feel like its maybe a bit too strong of a leadership penalty. I just had a battle where the lizardmen were pretty clearly going to beat me until nakai was killed, then their whole army chain routed.
Would maybe make sense for some factions (undead, skaven, gs) It felt weird that lizardmen would shatter so easily. Makes me worry that this will just turn the mod will just become a game of "snipe the lord to win". Perhaps turn it back halfway? Most of the other fixes I can think of would be unit edits (improved leadership bonus's from heros, more units having disiplined trait, etc) which would be too much work/ introduce incompatibility issues. I do like the concept, but feel like the current penalty is too strong.
Perhaps increasing the bonus for values like "flanks secure" and "currently winning combat"?

Games still better with this mod than without, just trying to be constructive, thanks again for the efforts!
aeON 28 Oct, 2019 @ 8:41pm
Been using this mod for awhile, this change is good. It was a little weird that regiments would come back barely hanging on morale and rout the minute they came close.
Zabii 28 Oct, 2019 @ 5:40pm
@Un Poisson Rouge

Good stuff, I'll test it later tonight to see how the morale loss affects the troops
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 28 Oct, 2019 @ 5:06pm
@Zabii Usually comments are kind of useless lol but this idea is brilliant. I always use this mod, but something that occasionally annoyed me is when at the end of a battle, there would be like 2 or 3 units of a few men each running around the map and you would chase them down. It doesn't make sense that so few troops come back from routing even after their general has died.

You are also right that historically, the general dying or abandoning their own army would have much more of a morale penalty than what is in the game, and in the case of vampires especially, if the commander dies then there is nobody left to keep the zombies alive.

I implemented your suggestion and it is now updated. Thank you.
Zabii 28 Oct, 2019 @ 4:04pm
I think to balance out the no more Mass Rout through Army losses, you should increase the penalty for your lord falling in battle, because while it's true a vampire should not crumble if his zombies are slaughtered, the zombies can't quite keep their selves up if the one who raised them in the first place is killed

While with the living armies, considering the lord is the one that is somehow issuing orders, not hearing from him in a while during the battle may panic the men who may eventually catch on to the fact he is already dead
Ire 13 Oct, 2019 @ 12:07pm
After playing a couple campaigns with this it has quickly become my #1 favorite mod. I always hated how much the BoP threw fights that I felt could have gone either way.
You'll want a couple of dedicated "running down" units (hounds, light cav, etc)
Markliuz Da Jesterly 28 Sep, 2019 @ 3:37am
I have to say, this is truly truly an excellent mod. this makes the battles very similar to total war rome 1 and i love that so much! also finally, its actually possible to get them heroic victories! XD
Bagi 5 Sep, 2019 @ 7:46am
now if only we could get a mod to stop units from going can kicking idle the second what they targeted routed.. regardless of what is going on around them,

then perhaps this game would not be a laughable P.O.S. even compared to other total war games including Empire:

Too bad WH2's trash tier unit battle AI is being actively hidden by Reddit white knights, thanks to them neither the devs or modders ever did a thing about that.
Chera 1 Sep, 2019 @ 2:17am
I am not entirely sure I understand how this works. I play with CTT (No Mass Rout has higher mod priority) and in all battles I have witnessed, the units get the -60 "Army losses" morale debuff. Especially humans seem to be running away quite a lot even with this mod.

Not sure it is working as intended, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Epyon (AnimeToxic) 7 Aug, 2019 @ 8:29pm
hey i tried to use this mod but i think norsca greenskin always mass rout or maybe iits just me :(
Choppy 4 Jul, 2019 @ 4:31am
does this work with SFO?
Twitchey 22 Apr, 2019 @ 11:20am
Yeah, this is now in my must have mods list, as advertised it extends battles without dragging them out too much and battles play a lot more like classic tabletop in having to break units or run them off the map while they flee.

Two thumbs up for this little change that makes a big difference.
Ruy 19 Apr, 2019 @ 2:41pm
Great mod and thanks for your work, any plans for an update?
Twitchey 14 Apr, 2019 @ 5:07pm
Well that's certainly one way to stop me cheesing it and running down generals after their army mass routs. Will have to test it out a bit, but the idea is good.
MCBEERLOVIN 23 Feb, 2019 @ 11:09am
works for coop?
Razgrizz 15 Feb, 2019 @ 3:59pm

Epyon (AnimeToxic) 27 Jan, 2019 @ 7:43pm
what about the skaven :T? it might make them too strong?
Serpentax 28 Dec, 2018 @ 5:31am
Just to let people know, I'm using this mod with SFO and so far have no problems.. its amazing, makes batttles so much better when ~50% of the enemy dont run away half way through.
Cela 29 Nov, 2018 @ 4:30pm
can confirm it works, thx for the mod! makes battles super long and bloody
Cela 29 Nov, 2018 @ 9:42am
I tried many mods like this and none ever worked. if yours does, I'll salute you
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 28 Nov, 2018 @ 5:26pm
@IntrepidH No they do not drag on to the last man. When troops see their friend's routing, they lose morale. If they are low on health they lose morale. If they are losing a fight they lose morale. All of this combined will help to encourage remaining units to flee. However, if those units have a chance they will keep on fighting wheras before even if a piece of the army could survive, if the rest died then that piece would crumble
IntrepidH 28 Nov, 2018 @ 4:53pm
just asking cuz I tried a mod that changed army losses from 120->35 which was better but sometimes tedious
IntrepidH 28 Nov, 2018 @ 4:52pm
so I think army losses is a default -120 leadership debuff when it is triggered, do you not find that without any such effect battles drag on to nearly the last man? or is that the intent?
Un Poisson Rouge  [author] 28 Nov, 2018 @ 8:41am
@Rachel L It works with all units @Nikad Exactly. I was using this last night and it was so nice for once to actually have to fight through the city like older Total War games.
Rachel L 28 Nov, 2018 @ 8:37am
Does this works with custom units too?
