It is a total shame indeed that terrain mods still have the bugs they do. I tried using them a couple of expansions ago. I even forgot how to put them in a random map with moddable terrain numbers -- use #constants?

Ok. Thanks for answering my question. I was not aware of the problems relating to the moddable terrain. This still is an awesome mod.
Ozhara  [author] 16 Sep, 2016 @ 2:13am
These terrains were added with the ak release, while this mod is much older.

And I indeed planned on doing that, but sadly there are 3 problems with them:

a) without map makers that actually include them - they never show up

b) they are bugged, right now they produce beach around them for the wrong terrains, so moddable water is produces beach against normal water, and moddable land against normal land

c) they are bugged - when placing one moddable land beside another one, you get a graphical mess
Ozhara  [author] 16 Sep, 2016 @ 2:12am
I already messaged the developers back then, but as we know - there was no patch for a long time.
I'll ask for ficing the moddable terrains again when the next real patch comes out.

Some of my terrain packs (v7 & 8) already contain some of my moddable terrains (I defined a fix set of terrain types, all my packs will have in their specific style later)
Also Captain Midnight implemented some of them in some of his random map scripts - but we noticed they are bugged, so he doesn't use them in the meantime.

I've been looking for this sort of mod for a while! Great to find one finally.
The problem of course is that this replaces water, so you can't have both. Would it be possible to make use of 'Moddable land 70-89', 'Moddable shore 90-94', and 'Moddable water 95-99'? I believe that is their purpose and I've yet to see them used. This seems like the perfect opportunity.

I didn't know AoM when creating it back then, but yes. :)

Wow thank you so much for this information. I don't know if I want to try this right now (way to busy XD) but thanks again!

For the changing of a building:

I know there is only one graphic for each units animation, so without changing the game mechanic (is possible, but all players need to use it in mp and these specific changes would also need modded ai scripts to work for ai), you can only change a units graphic for all civs.

As there are 5 graphic sets for the buildings this works a bit different I think. But I haven't looked it up until now. So it might be possible to do changes for a specific civ, while I suppose you can only change it for a graphic set without changing game mechanic.
But I will have a look at that after work.
Ozhara  [author] 19 Aug, 2013 @ 10:35pm
How to mod a non-terrain graphic:

Your game\data folder contains a file called graphics.drs. It holds all the games graphics beside terrains and interface related ones.

To open this file you can use a tool like turtle pack (keep in mind these tool are made by fans and up to 10+ years old beside some of them still being updated).

The graphics.drs contains slp files, which are containers for bmp files. These slp files can be extracted and opened by using turtle pack for example.

After doing whatever changes you want to do or doing completelly new images, you can convert them to the AoE color palette. Without, you cant replace images in a slp file with a changed/new one. For AoE uses a 8bit 256 color palette, the graphics will loose detail and colors if you haven't created them using this color palette all the time.
Ozhara  [author] 19 Aug, 2013 @ 10:35pm
Important for units and buildings is to keep player color in mind. The color palette conatins 8 specific ones per player color, so using the wrong colorshapes will result in the pixels not changing color ingame.

After saving your changed slp file, you have to rename it (graphics.drs uses the numeric ID for naming, the modded slp has to use the name instead. There are lists on the web, or you can open the dat file using a tool like advanced genie editor to look the name up - or ask somone who has this tool). The renamed slp file has to be placed in the data\slp folder. If you named it right, the game will automatically replace the fitting graphic ingame.

Is there a way to mod specific buildings in certain civilizations? Also how do you mod this kind of thing. Sry really noob question I know... :D
Ozhara  [author] 12 Aug, 2013 @ 1:50am
The unsubscribe button is just beneath the preview pics, that large green one.

Without clicking it, steam will reload this mods textures every time after your verification of the game cache.
Stillborn 12 Aug, 2013 @ 1:40am
Where is this unsubscribe tab you speak of?

My God, this mod just wont go away. I've followed the instructions but it keeps coming back! Any hints?

It Worked :p .Thank you so much!!
Ozhara  [author] 20 Jul, 2013 @ 5:10am
right click on AoE HD in your steam library and choose properties. Go on local files tab in the opened dialog and click the verify button. That checks you game directory and deletes every changed file (the corrct one will be reloaded at next game start). This is necessary for unsubscribing only sets a flag that a mod isn't taken into account for reloading a file if it is missing anymore.

I d'ont known but the fish stick is a good notion :P
Ozhara  [author] 19 Jul, 2013 @ 4:37pm
Some animations of jumping fish sticks? ;)
But honestly, what changes do you have in mind?
Ætherius 19 Jul, 2013 @ 4:34pm
What about fishing ? :)
Ozhara  [author] 18 Jul, 2013 @ 11:03pm
I tried to do a video some days ago, but the video I did lagged that much, that it made no sense to publish it. Perhaps someone else has a good video I could link at?

Beside that, there are some videos of AoE streams on twitch.tv/ageofempires/ that use some of my textures and since last weekened also my lava.
But most of the used maps aren't that good for showing diverse waters, as only the Beta 2.5 Stream has all water types and it doesn't look that good only using one lava type everywhere on the map...
PercyMain 18 Jul, 2013 @ 4:00pm
i wish there was videos of these mods in action
Smmyb 18 Jul, 2013 @ 3:02pm
nicely done:plane:
Crow 18 Jul, 2013 @ 1:07pm
ah, i did skip the intro. I'll try just letting it run this time!
Ozhara  [author] 18 Jul, 2013 @ 12:55pm
After subscribing, did you cancel the intro videos? For the files are loadd while they are played (bfore AoK video). So canceling too early prevents steam from loading the mods data.

Also sometimes Steam doesn't recognize unsubscriptions correctly. In that cases it helps to delete the mods file manually too (the mod files in your mods folder are never deleted automatically and stay there after unsubscribing)
Crow 18 Jul, 2013 @ 12:46pm
This looks like a really cool mod! But i need a little help getting it to activate. I've subscribed and removed other texture mods and verified my game cache but nothing seems to get it working :P I've also restarted the game several times but it doesn't seem to do anything :( Help please!
LifetSavert911 17 Jul, 2013 @ 12:02am
thanks for the help. ill check it out. and if you ever make it switchable, pm me or comment here please. I doo like what you have done! :-)
Ozhara  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 11:25pm
To delete a mod you have to verify your game cache after unsubscribing.

And sadly, up to now there is no way of changing textures beside doing it manually (Unsubscribed mod files aren't deleted and can be opened with winrar/winzip. So you can change the used textures/game objects when ever you want by replacing them on your own. But while I do this all the time for my modding, I suppose that isn't that good for playing...).
LifetSavert911 16 Jul, 2013 @ 11:02pm
ok, i got the lava pack. I don't like that there is no way to turn it on or off so i unsubscribed. and deleted the file directly from the directory. However, it's still on my game! I would like to know how to delete it completely. Also, if you make it switchabel, i would very much like to get it again. Please help!
Ozhara  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 10:41pm
Technically that would be no problem. I would have to edit every frame of that particular fish to something else. Time consuming but no problem (after I got a good base for that images). I will have a look at that when the two other thing I'm working at (a cold V4 version for the original AoE2 and a 'candyland' terrain pack^^) are finished.

And thanks, glad you like it.
MindKiller 16 Jul, 2013 @ 10:02pm
Hey author, what could you do to edit the fish textures? Like make the Deep-Sea fish a bunch of dead floating fish? ... or people screaming? lol... That'd really do some good stuff here. I love this thing.
Ozhara  [author] 16 Jul, 2013 @ 9:52pm
Indeed, several of my texture packs got a lot of new visitors/subscribers since your stream. And especially the lava and the used full texture pack V2 got a lot! of attention. So, thank you. ;)

Glad you like them!

Oops looks like we may flooded traffic to this a bit by highlighting it, but had a ton of fun with it on our stream over the weekend. Keep up the work with the texture packs.

@Protoss
Such an option would be great indeed.
And yes, it is unrealistic - to be honest, when I created it, I thought of it more as a resource for scenarios without fishing/ships, like a öotr mordor map or something like that just for adding a piece of atmosphere. I really didn't expect this one to be that popular.^^

@All
Thank you very much. Glad so much people like it! :)
ThePacmanV 15 Jul, 2013 @ 8:26pm
how can I eliminate this workshop?
RonjaLin 15 Jul, 2013 @ 6:46pm
I wished there was some option to turn this off from ingame. The mod is nicely done, no doubt, but it is a bit unrealistic to have the ships drive in lava. :-)
As it is I must favorite it and subscribe/unsubscribe whenever I feel like using it.
Also, it is great that this is usable in multiplayer without issues!
