How do you stop it?
It has no working off button
MrRaccoon 4 May, 2020 @ 5:11pm
No longer works, after about 150M it does not drill/go down anymore.
Tonatsi 2 Sep, 2019 @ 10:09am
you would have to redo all the timer block block links for pistons and the offgrid projectors; which would require you to blueprint the tube segment separately.
At least
Mr. Nuri 1 Sep, 2019 @ 10:50am
I wonder if it will work in survival or not. If not what parts are missing to bring it to work?
Tonatsi 24 Aug, 2019 @ 6:34am
anything with multiple grids is by definition not perfectly survival ready - I believe the implication is that the structure allows one to play in survival on the structure (access to important components to repair without needing to grind down other blocks in the way) without any issues once it is pasted in.
Superdeathrobot 23 Aug, 2019 @ 7:20pm
How is it survival ready...I blueprints can only support one grid so it breaks the top part
[SASR] Ryan 4 Apr, 2019 @ 2:51am
nah ive tried never got it to work,
Oldridge 3 Apr, 2019 @ 10:08pm
Has anyone tested this in MP. I've built a few from BP with no luck of them working. Even had the authors come on the server and they couldn't get it to work.

An interesting machine would be useful but here’s an idea as it drills down make it so the main drill can be deconstructed then rebuilt with a different head to accommodate outer circular drilling that way with the shaft now it can be expanded outwards. Maybe also include a builder and holo block to construct a flat pad at the bottom of the shaft to build an elevator in the center, I can see many of potentials here maybe even a facility that can drill a hole large enough for a ship to fly straight through a planets core grav field after all intergalactic hyper express ways need to be built the galaxy always needs more bypasses XD
[SASR] Ryan 23 Mar, 2019 @ 10:21pm
hi, cant seem to get this working? the drill never moves down
ZephyrIAddy 19 Mar, 2019 @ 7:56am
alright this is kick ass man
Tonatsi 10 Mar, 2019 @ 5:48am
I see; that's a more stable way to do; and requires less weight on the head itself. I wonder how I can tinker with it? (I like tinkering with things :P)
OctoBooze  [author] 10 Mar, 2019 @ 5:38am
Only 2 pistons, couple of merges and rotors and a helluva lot of timers and research. The TBMs were inverse of this. Basically this time the station builds a never ending pipe (always connected so whatever you drill will come up too!) and shoves it down the well repeating ad infinitum :)
At least it did until an update broke. Imagine the tbm but with the tunnel moving instead of the machine.
Tonatsi 10 Mar, 2019 @ 5:21am
I’d open SE myself to check but I’ve got work to do :P
Tonatsi 10 Mar, 2019 @ 5:20am
I’ll have to take a look and see what I can do.
Bit of clarification; does this work like a downwards facing crawler; welding a tunnel; then moving down; or does it just have an inhumane amount of pistons?
OctoBooze  [author] 9 Mar, 2019 @ 11:21pm
I was young and inexperienced back then and hadn't realized it could be done that way. YES you can rework the drillhead similar to the 10m TBM with its autorepair system, nothing stopping that :)
Tonatsi 9 Mar, 2019 @ 5:19pm
As to why not*
Tonatsi 9 Mar, 2019 @ 5:18pm
@OctoMoose might i suggest putting a few welders next to/behind the drills, and rotating? This might allow you to speed up the drilling cycle; if there is a reason as to why please do tell
OctoBooze  [author] 9 Mar, 2019 @ 7:52am
It's been so long I've forgotten how this thing is piped up... In the generator housing is a green thing, inside of it is a few small uranium gens iirc.
saga286 9 Mar, 2019 @ 7:39am
I spawned the station but it has no power. No fuel apparently. I have no idea how to give it fuel.
Gary 3 Mar, 2019 @ 6:08pm
i would just normally just make a small grid drill with a battery and a cargo container but still a lovely build, and i think it would be more controlled then just one tiny drill, i am writing this without testing because i hear that the latest update broke it. cheers
OctoBooze  [author] 3 Mar, 2019 @ 12:27pm
That is unfortunate to hear... Glad it at least made it that deep, a respectable amount I feel, but that's not anywhere near its record depth that it should be able to reach. I may have to look into updating it in the far future to increase reliability.
If you can, try to set EVERYTHING to ship mode, should let pieces jiggle and move freely instead of forcing and slamming pieces.
MrFox 3 Mar, 2019 @ 12:24pm
well its an AMAZING BUILD!! But since the update it doesnt work right....
1. The drill wont move
2. if you set the drill section to ship mode, at some point the drill head will brake off before it reaches the 500M mark.
But still amazing work!
CTH2004 3 Mar, 2019 @ 9:24am
You should make a new one with vents for any planet!
Dan 17 Jan, 2019 @ 3:17pm
Well, it's a huge thanks from me. Not only have you solved several of the problems I've struggled with but you made it look great too. One thing that helped my builds a lot was a simple programmer block to control piston speeds - slow advance for drilling but fast retract when preparing to weld a new string.

Before you go in demanding a video, read the description first. It is explained in clear that which button to press and where it is.
It is rude to ask people to put in extra effort when you don't even bother to read the first 4 short sentences.
Dots 14 Jan, 2019 @ 6:53am
@Octomoose - That is very rude sir and i am only asking for a video because i subs to so many builds and they all end up not being used because they don't have any instruction manuals on how to turn the darn things on.
OctoBooze  [author] 14 Jan, 2019 @ 6:32am
If the low quality MS paint imagery wasn't a hint enough, I'm not one to usually put effort into advertising my works. Either people download them or they don't. I much rather keep building new stuff than stick with old builds to create demo vids and whatnot in an effort to reach the front page.
Dots 14 Jan, 2019 @ 5:43am
how about you show us a video before i test this out?
Fire Star 12 Jan, 2019 @ 2:24pm
Not sure what's better, the rig or the comment...

Nevertheless, I'm still going to have to try this out.
TheFatman 11 Jan, 2019 @ 3:27pm
Underrated comment from MrEvan312.

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou punch the the Holy Timer. Then, shalt thou do it only once. No more. No less. Once shalt be the number thou shalt punch, and the number of the punching shall be once. Two shalt thou not count Four is right out. Once the number one, being the first number, be reached, then, allowest they holy drilling rig to dig up all the ores, who, being naughty in My sight, shall be used at thy mercy."
