@atomicrays: because it's a game and a snowball is a throwable, don't you make most (if not all) throwables in the anvil? Same could be said about a salve, or a bandage, you need a crafting station to make them, while logic tells you, that you should be able to make bandages in hand. A snowball in the game is nothing else than a bunch of zeroes and ones with a sticker calling it throwable and putting it into that cathegory in the crafting station (anvil). This mod applies a patch that enables it being made in hand (basic crafting). It's not really about real life logic, it's about game logic.
