[WOTC] Change Default Weapon Color

Most likely it's because of one million colors.
NSFW Gamer 16 Jun @ 2:03am
Running CI, Unrestricted Customisation, and 1 Million Colors. Not sure what else I have that might be causing interference, but for some reason the slider in mod manager goes from 0 to 100000 and so far the only colours I've had appear are not ones I've wanted or set the number for. The three colours that have appeared when changing mods around and doing test runs are beige, pastel green, and white.

Ok it does work for me, just not on the Gatecrasher soldiers. When they get their class after the mission their weapon changes color to 94
PreConceptor 25 Apr, 2024 @ 8:43pm
Doesn't seem to work with LWOTC, at least on the Gatecrasher soldiers. Any idea on what could cause it? I am using Randomized Gatecrasher Loadouts...

@Iridar Thanks again!
Iridar  [author] 5 Jan, 2024 @ 2:52am
@DdaY
This mod will not affect soldiers from Character Pool, intentionally. You have to set their weapon color in Character Pool yourself.

@Phoenix
I tested and can confirm the issue, I'll look into it.
Phoenix 4 Jan, 2024 @ 6:24pm
This mod seems to only affect regular soldiers and not faction heroes' weapons. Would it be possible to add an option for it to affect faction heroes' weapons as well?
DdaY 21 Dec, 2023 @ 4:04am
I should probably add, that if i add these soldiers, it says their weapon color is black/94 but it doesnt show unless i manually change it back..but as i said only for the 4 soldiers of the first mission
DdaY 21 Dec, 2023 @ 3:57am
I realized that in the first tutorial mission, this mod doesnt work. It used to work in the last months i believe but bc of issues with character pool i got the mod unrestricted customization and now if i start a new game the 4 soldiers wont have the set color from this config. I dont know if its sth to do with unrestricted customization, but AML doesnt say anything and im not sure if its not even supposed to work in the first place. Any Idea why this is the case?
Rusty | SkyPaladin 19 Dec, 2021 @ 10:27pm
If this worked consistently, it would be fantastic. I have no idea why the default colour is beige. Blech!
Iridar  [author] 3 Nov, 2021 @ 2:23pm
@SapperDapper
Fixed, thanks.
SapperDapper 3 Nov, 2021 @ 1:56pm
your link to unrestricted customization here also leads to clean soldier generation, fyi
CHINGO MAN 1 Nov, 2021 @ 12:07pm
YES
Jdog6704 2 Oct, 2021 @ 10:32am
Dude, this is a absolute must at least for me, such a immersion breaker for me when I play to see recruits and resistance with beige weapons by default. Definitely a mod I hope to forever use! Nice job as always!
AxFive 16 Sep, 2021 @ 10:46am
This is exactly what i needed, bye bye beige! hello Black!
SBlack 6 Sep, 2021 @ 1:53pm
Oh wow. I didn't know this existed. Was getting tired of the beige, plastic weapons

@everyone
I've just published an update to this mod. It now works through Mod Config Menu rather than through configuration files.

Now it should work more reliably, as previously - as I've only recently realized - whether it worked or not depended on unpredictable config load order.
Maprikan 23 May, 2021 @ 7:11am
Hey Iridar (& anyone having issues), fyi this mod seems to be incompatible with your [WOTC] Clean Soldier Generation. They both change XComSoldierGeneration.ini. But changing the default weapon tint value in the XComContent.ini config of X2WOTCCommunityHighlander does work without conflicting with [WOTC] Clean Soldier Generation.
lelesiriosc allkeyshop.com 14 May, 2021 @ 9:33am
hi, do you know if there are mods that add other colors for weapons?
Kazzerk 31 Mar, 2021 @ 5:51pm
Hi, I tried using this mod only with Clean Soldier Generation and Highlander, they're not compatible, the weapon color is vanilla with Clean Soldier Generation.
BillyGreen 14 Nov, 2020 @ 5:21pm
This mod is fantastic, but does anyone know of something that does exactly the same with armour colours?
Kudomundo 23 Sep, 2020 @ 8:40pm
Since the update the default color has been beige instead of black, I dunno why though.
kenanthebarbarian 23 Sep, 2020 @ 7:10pm
@Iridar Is there a way to do the same thing with tattoo color? I want hot pink tattoos across the board.
Iridar  [author] 23 Sep, 2020 @ 5:25am
@everyone
I had to update this mod to fix a bug. The mod now uses "XComSoldierGeneration.ini" configuration file instead of the "XComContent.ini". So the update will have reset configs for everyone. Apologies, I didn't really know how to make this mod properly back at the time.
kenanthebarbarian 3 Apr, 2020 @ 4:15pm
Love this mod. Can something similar be done so tattoos default to black?
Iridar  [author] 2 Mar, 2020 @ 11:10pm
@Masterman
What class ID?
Medicman 2 Mar, 2020 @ 10:58pm
Well from what I could tell, that would be a nope, anyway back end to make it also affect class ID?
Iridar  [author] 2 Mar, 2020 @ 10:28pm
@Masterman
No idea, you'll have to test.
Medicman 2 Mar, 2020 @ 9:39pm
So on units such as MOCX and advent troopers, would their spawn ID work? EG:
+CHARACTER_TEMPLATES_TO_PATCH_WEAPON_COLOR=advtrooperM1
EvilPolygons 22 Aug, 2019 @ 6:11am
Understood. Hopefully the MCM guys will succeed in opening it up for modders to use more easily. I've wondered why more mods don't make use of it, and now I know why. :steamsad:
Iridar  [author] 22 Aug, 2019 @ 4:57am
@EvilDastard
I'd love to do that, and add MCM support into more of my mods in general, but unfortunately MCM is kinda super hard to figure out, even with all the examples and documentation. Some efforts are being done to make mcm more accessible to laymen like me, and once it's made public, I might use it for this mod and otherd d where it makes sense.
EvilPolygons 22 Aug, 2019 @ 4:24am
Since default color can be set directly in the CommunityHighlander config without even needing this mod, I'd suggest (if possible) to upgrade this mod with Mod Menu support. Being able to set default weapon color from the Mod Menu in-game would make your mod a lot more useful.
Iridar  [author] 21 Jul, 2019 @ 1:58pm
@Korbis
> (brown conventional, grey mag, etc.)
Not sure what you mean. Just disable this mod and that's what you'll get.

In any case, no you cannot use this mod to do anything other than what it does already. The actual functionality is in the Highlander, this mod merely provides configuration for it.

You can't disable automatic coloring, because automatic coloring is not a thing. A tintable weapon must have a tint of some color. Because "lack of color" is not a thing that exists.
Wet Dog Squad 21 Jul, 2019 @ 1:11pm
Is it possible to use this mod to disable automatic weapon coloring and revert to the pre-patch behavior where each weapon has its own default color (brown conventional, grey mag, etc.)?
Veritas 25 May, 2019 @ 11:58am
Such a simple mod but also such a great one. Thank you
Erwin von Gulaschkanone 18 May, 2019 @ 3:01pm
Thank you for your answer, I'll have a look at this.
Iridar  [author] 18 May, 2019 @ 3:19am
@Gregor Easy
That functionality had to be removed to make the mod more compatible. You can regulate percentages with another mod, called Patriarchy.
Erwin von Gulaschkanone 18 May, 2019 @ 3:14am
I once saw in your config, that you could change the male percentage on new rookies? Will you turn that back on? That was delicious.
Iridar  [author] 11 May, 2019 @ 12:40pm
@everyone
Updated the mod, now it requires Highlander v1.18, but now it's compatible with everything.
Technically, you now don't need this mod at all, and can just change the default weapon color in the Highlander.
new england slam chowder 22 Mar, 2019 @ 1:08pm
i did; did not work.
TuGun Jr 20 Mar, 2019 @ 6:31pm
@autoexec.batman have you tried deleting your config folder to do a clean mod install?
new england slam chowder 25 Feb, 2019 @ 7:48pm
i can't even boot the game with this mod, Error loading package. I haven't had this issue with any other mod; including others of yours. The mod loader doesn't show any conflicts, and I've unsubscribed and resubscribed and the issue remains. Any thoughts?
Naylind 17 Feb, 2019 @ 1:16pm
good to know and well done, most appreciated.
Iridar  [author] 17 Feb, 2019 @ 2:34am
@Naylind
they override the same classes, so they are incompatible.
Naylind 17 Feb, 2019 @ 2:00am
Hi, well it's was fast, but i can use it with the patriarchy or it will substitute?
Iridar  [author] 15 Feb, 2019 @ 11:57am
@Naylind
Done.
Naylind 5 Feb, 2019 @ 10:30pm
duty Sir.
Iridar  [author] 5 Feb, 2019 @ 6:35pm
@Naylind
Hmm, I've looked at that mod, and I like what it does, I should be able to incorporate its functionality into my mod as well. Thanks.
Naylind 5 Feb, 2019 @ 1:58pm
Hi, when i select this mod and "the patriarchy" it show a conflict.
Watchwire 29 Jan, 2019 @ 1:22pm
@Iridar
Hey thanks for the speedy response! Don't worry about the campaign, it's one of the hazards of installing mods. I just wanted to get a second opinion from someone who knows more about the backend of modding than I do. Please keep up the great work, I love your mods!
