Why? Nightingales are assasins, not heavy barbarians who walk in a room full of bandits with bulky armor.

Pretty sure you can go back and get the heavy whenever you want. No guarantees as I made this years ago so I'm going from memory!

can you only get the heavy verison if you're getting the original for hte first time or can i go back and get the heavy verison later?

You should be able to find it after finishing the thieves guild yes, if you just go into Nightingale Hall (The place where you get the original armour from).

can it also be found after finishing the thief guild and killing mercer? I would like to chance my light armor to heavy ^^
