You can proceed in the main quest and also the Dawnguard one without even going to winterhold, just head right to Septimus outpost and talk to him, you can even do the dawnguard part without being the dragonborn(not killing the first dragon)

only thing i dislike is you deactivated the shouting entrance tests member ship because shouting is using dragon magic or a spoken spell so i dont see why you would do this anyway good idea for thieves assassins and warriors to be able to enter this way instead you should maybe add a class to teach members to use basic shouts like fus or yol or feim you know

Great Idea. This kind of anoiyed me too. While you're doing college stuff, you might consider editing the diolog with the guy who runs the library (forget his name) regarding your seach for the elder scrolls. I was archmage before I did the main and dawngaurd quest lines. the convorsation went kind of like this:

librarian: thank you for saving the college archmage.
me: I need to find an elder scroll
librarian: why the hell do you want one of them for?
me: bitch I'm the fucking dragonborn!

"later in the convorsation)

me: I'm looking for a moth prist
librarian: A moth prist? why are you looking for a moth prist?
me: mind your own buisness!

REALLY convenient. I just don't like how it starts the college questline with "First Lessons" because doesn't that defeat the point?

Thank you! I'll probably use this on one of my future warrior characters. I was annoyed that you're forced to join the College (if I want to be a mage, I'll BE a mage!), and I did find it weird that you'd be admitted into the MAGES' College by, as you said, simply shouting at the floor.

That's not the point.

YES. Thank you. My current character is a fighter who uses only one unenchanted dagger so starting to use magic would be a huge break in my immersion. Although he is a custom race with a lot of cool powers.But I will be sure to try this out.

This has always bugged me to no end. Brilliant solution.

This is a cool way to make the college seem more exclusive than it is, even if the entry test is pathetically easy to anyone above level 10. Its like a hall pass!

You don't actually need to ever go to the college of winterhold. All you have to do is find the crazy former college member on the glacier. You never actually need to join the college to find the Elder scroll (dragon).

Great idea, most of the time I don't even want my magic-user characters joining the college and wearing dresses. Sure beats having to wait until the main story is developed enough to allow entry as the Dragonborn.

I hated when Companion quests would tell you to 'rough up' a member of the Collage. Which meant you had to join said Collage and henceforce all guards would call you a mage despite your character being a warrior, through and through.

Sirus, to get access to that option you need to be on an extremely specific quest in the main story. It's fairly late into the game, when you need access to their library.

Well I was not even aware that you could just shout at the floor marker thing instead of casting a spell. TIL

Does anyone know if this would allow me to acquire the key to Saarthal without becoming a member? (For the Forbidden Legend questline.) Is it able to be pickpocketed?

Thank Christ for this, I hated feeling like bethesda forced you to "see the sights" throughout the main and Dawnguard questlines just for the dragon elder scroll. Having to "stumble across Sigmus by accident" was really annoying.

I just caught a bug where Faralda repeatedly tried to talk to you after getting the pass via shouting. This should be fixed now, sorry to anybody who experienced this.
