Very good. Was playing with Chandragupta and was friendly towards everyone. Level 2 alliances with 5 other players and friendship declared with other 5 since the ancient times. Then Darius backstabs be, I take one of his cities, Kupe joins the emergency against me to free his city. Everyone hates Darius and Kupe. Then Darius' last city rebel against him and join me, and I proceed to take over Kupe only city. And then everyone denounces me for inflicting grievances against them for killing Kupe (like, what? You all hated him and where at war with him too!) and for inflicting those non-sensical grievances for every single other player. While I think grievances are an interesting mechanic against warmongers, they dont make any sense when you are fighting togheter against the warmonger.

Ya that's the kind of nonsense this mod was made to fix.
Glad it's working out for you.

Without this mod its possible to be denounced by Vietnam for taking conquered Vietnamese settings from the Mayans and giving them back to Vietnam. The negative opinion penalty from hurting their enemy is greater than the positive from giving them their cities back. 😑 I'm glad I only payed 6 bucks for this game.

You sir a bloody legend for this. the other mod does not support save games. Thank you what a life saver! what a legend!

You are welcome, enjoy. :)

Oh nice, i've been tired to be always hated by everybody when i just conquer one city-state or raze it. even Civs that i meet later in the game. -_-
Sometimes i just want to do a tall empire and focus on diplomacy and commerce but there always comes a point in the game where I have to go to war and after that I am considered as the worst scum of the world and suddenly no one wants to do business with me anymore.
It's so frustrating sometimes so it inevitably ends with my empire destroying others with my armies.

No longer shall even warmongers denounce me when I first meet them for fighting a war that isn't even on their landmass.

hi, can you also remove the diplomatic penalty for grievances? or could you make an "advanced" version of this mod that offers no penaltys at all for grievances? i just get declared war on by the AI, and claiming some of their territory, razing their cities to make them submit -- it makes me the bad guy, it's so silly. it wasn't like this in the other games, not very much.

After a few more turns, I think I might have spoken too soon. The -40 number is going down for all but one of the civs now. I'm assuming that's how it would look with a mid-game implementation? Not an instant drop to -15, but a turn-by-turn reduction? That's what seems to be happening at any rate.

And thanks for this great mod! I was in a situation where 3 civs declared a military emergency against me, so they didn't get any grievances for declaring war on me, and then when I take a couple their cities, I'm the bad guy?! (I mean, I *am* a bad guy, but that's no reason for the kind of reaction every other civ had, lol)

Have you tried disabling all other mods and running this one on its own?
Do this with a brand new game.
Then work backwards and see what is conflicting. If you figure out which of your mods is causing the problem, I will add it to the description's compatibility info.
Nizou 8 Feb, 2020 @ 10:00am
I think you would do better activate this mod when creating a new game
HeyNongMer 8 Feb, 2020 @ 9:53am
I just downloaded and enabled this mod mid-game -- a game where I've got the max -40 grievances with a couple of civs. So far, after a couple turns, I haven't seen that -40 change. Is this because it only works with new grievances or is the mod not working (presumably because of a conflict with another mod)? I use Dynamic Diplomacy, would that possibly conflict?

You are my hero
I got so sick of this BS, you go for one war and take two cities and that's it diplo is over for 50 turns with everybody
thx man

Version Update Posted - No Changes Made.
Ingolenuru 29 Oct, 2019 @ 8:53pm
No one seems to be having problems so I am going with a leap of faith that your mod works with GS Sept patch. You make great mods. Thank you. :)
telstar 6 Oct, 2019 @ 9:37am
P.S. Can you make a version compatible with vanilla?
telstar 6 Oct, 2019 @ 9:37am
I stopped playing civ5 for the IMBA STUPID warmonger mechanic that no modder fixed. These parameters seem now easy enough to adjust in civ6. Many thanks.

How well does this and your Slower Grievance Decay mod play with Dynamic Diplomacy mod. I have had a look into the files and can't see any direct overlap/conflict, but my understanding is relatively basic, so was wondering if I'm just missing something that may cause problems/balance issues.
Just curious. Thanks.

I never understood why in Civ series every leader care so much about what you've done with others, especially in the first eras when it's highly unrealistic. Totally recommended!!
Juggernaut-X15 22 Apr, 2019 @ 9:39am
Nice. I am now using your mode. Thanx for the very usefull mod!
_Zee  [author] 22 Apr, 2019 @ 3:57am
In your example England would apply the same Grievance penalty on you as all other civs, in addition to whatever relationship penalties are generated by declaring war on their ally (which aren't linked to grievances, and thus not altered by this mod).
Juggernaut-X15 21 Apr, 2019 @ 8:17am
How this mod impacts my relationship with my enemies ally? For example, I am Spain and Germany and England are ally. I am declaring war on Germany. Will England get same grievances from gathering storm version or will this mod reduce it too?
BINARYGOD 1 Mar, 2019 @ 2:44pm
@varadysoma the base game (not modded, I mean) already does track things like that differently. That is, if you keep pissing off someone who is good friends or allies with another, that other person judges you more harshly than a person who is not allies or good friends. This mod, and the author can correct me if I am wrong, isn't touching the additional greviences that can be generated based on friendly and ally settings (it modifies base values, not additions due to friendship or ally status).
_Zee  [author] 28 Feb, 2019 @ 4:53pm
@Suisight
Thank you! Everyone likes to play a little bit differently so I'm glad you appreciate the modularity of my mods. :)
Suisight 28 Feb, 2019 @ 10:19am
Thanks for splitting up your mods, really convenient. Going to pass on this one, though :).
zon 26 Feb, 2019 @ 7:14am
thx for the update :)
varadysoma 24 Feb, 2019 @ 3:42am
Hello, Zee - an idea: what if a 3rd civ is ally to the civ I I've incurred grievance against? I think in this ccase this 3rd civ should feel more bad about me (and more penalty to relationship should be given) than a civ which is not allied to the particular civ - I hope I was clear expressing this...
_Zee  [author] 23 Feb, 2019 @ 8:11pm
Update to allow mod usage in any save, even if you didn't start that save with this mod enabled.
_Zee  [author] 23 Feb, 2019 @ 1:18pm
@wulf
You're welcome! Thanks for pointing it out, I hope this is what you had in mind.
Queen Goblina 23 Feb, 2019 @ 2:00am
Thanks zee for doing this requested mod for me, The most needed mod since gathering storm came out <3
akirajeff 22 Feb, 2019 @ 10:25pm
Thanks, this is super awesome to have a mod like this. Now people can actually go to war without the whole world eyeing on every move
Cosmic Fox 22 Feb, 2019 @ 6:52pm
Now this is a mod I have been looking for. THanks Zee!
