Such a great mod. Excellent choices for music!

Hey, maybe you can help me with my issue, since you changed part of the soundtrack yourself. So I want to change out the game music for other select Star Wars music. I want Dual of Fates to be the main menu music. I was told to use audacity to convert into a WAV file, turn to mono, bring the HZ down by half and get it to 16 Bit. However, when I do this, it slows down. So basically the question is, what are you doing to change the soundtrack? You can comment here or send a DM if steam has DMs

This mod REFUSES to work for me and I can only assume it is because KotoR 2 has become sentient and DOSE NOT want it's music changed. I have searched the workshop directory, the directory of the game, AND JUST MY COMPUTER IN GENERAL for the original music the game has and have deleted every trace of those files from my computer AND YET IT STILL SOMEHOW PLAYS THEM! Mod author I am sure this mod would be lovely to use and yet the game has seen fit to tell me NO, but in theory I do love the idea of this mod.

@Lexiconical, no the game plays mp3's just fine as it comes with its own mp3 codec.

So if you are going the manual route, here is a step by step:

1. Backup you game's original StreamMusic folder located here; "Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II".
2. Remove the game's original SteamMusic folder.
3. Copy over this mod located here; "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\208580\1682417351" to you game directory located here; "Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II"
4. Copy the tracks within the "Restored Content Mod Steam Workshop Patch" folder over to your main SteamMusic folder."

I think some of my other mods were interfering with this. I followed your manual install method, and it works now, cheers @He Who Laughs

I am having problems with the darkside and lightside point gain tracks now since trying to fix the darkside cue. I have done extensive reading everywhere trying to find a solution, in addition to trying everything I could think of first before posting this. So my problem now is that neither the light nor darkside tracks play. I have .wav and .mp3 versions of both tracks, and I've pretty much tried every folder i can think of putting them there and testing. I have TSLRCM + M4-78, through Steam. My folder #'s are: 1402798020, which contains the streammusic and sounds folders, 1697046656, which contains random .wav files. Can someone help me get these to work? I have both types of sound files, where do i put them? do i need to remove any files from anywhere else? I looks like i tried putting the (mus_s_darkshort / lighshort.wav) in the /common/streammusic folder, should i delete those? Ive tried a lot of things, and i could use some help. Thanks!
VexenDeimos 21 Mar, 2020 @ 8:48pm
Not sure if anyone has posted this already, but to fix the dark side point gain track I just converted "mus_s_darkshort.mp3" to a wav file and copied it to the override folder.

Is there any way that you could make a mod similar to this one, but using the music from KOTOR One? I miss that old music, and the original game itself is so inferior to this one in terms of gameplay and progression that I can barely play it anymore. I'd love it if you would be able to do this.

Hello, is it normal that at certain "key events" there is no music at all ? I am using rTSLRCM mod 1.8.5 and I installed your mod as explained (manually as I had to add the specific TSLRCM files), but I noticed that during the first cinematic of Visas with her master the sith lord (I think this cinematic is a restored content but not sure) that there is no music at all. This cinematic came early in game, but it seems that I noticed this already in Peragus, when the Republic ship is arriving no music also. Did I installed the mod not correctly ? Thanks in advance
Grunge 26 Nov, 2019 @ 4:52pm
I was wondering if I may be able to ask you some questions about how exactly you made this mod? Considering that all the files have a weird static noise... I have been interested in creating my own pack and was interested in how you did it.
Thrawn 6 Aug, 2019 @ 3:22am
buuuuut KOTOR music is also great tooooo :(((((
Classic Oswald 3 Aug, 2019 @ 2:09pm
I half expected the video to show you fighting Darth Vader, what with his theme appearing and the mod that's out there. Very nicely done.
dx151 13 Jul, 2019 @ 1:20pm
I fucking love this shit.
CactusHead 20 Jun, 2019 @ 11:02pm
Although I have no doubt that this was well implemented; I personally think that the soundtrack for Kotor II is definitely authentic enough. I think that Mark Griskey really leaned in on inspirations from John Williams, but also added more of a melancholy tone that fit the game (since it has a much different tone and atmosphere than the movies). No hate here, just my thoughts.
Washablewolf 17 Jun, 2019 @ 3:03pm
I wont be using this personally at the moment because I like maintaining the atmosphere of this not being a part of the classics, but hearing Final Duel with Kreia gave me goosebumps. Really, really fantastic work man. Thank you for adding this option and for sharing your work here with us. Ill have to give it a go in a future playthrough.
Pvt Martin 17 Jun, 2019 @ 1:43pm
Thanks for the instructions. I enjoy the music.
Xanatos 16 Jun, 2019 @ 3:44am
@Man Who Laughs I use the Steam TSLRCM version. I copied the two files from "208580\1682417351\StreamMusic\Restored Content Mod Steam Workshop Patch" folder to "485537937\steammusic", opened the game and nothing changed... :(
Dark_Ansem 1 Jun, 2019 @ 1:20pm
Very impressive effort.
He Who Laughs  [author] 12 May, 2019 @ 11:18am
@Nico, have you followed the instructions in the description?

i have download this mod and i cant hear this music
tmisenti 6 May, 2019 @ 5:39am
Yeah, those are the only 2 mods I'm using. It's all right though, I don't spend too much time on the main menu anyway, the rest works great. Nice work!
He Who Laughs  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 10:21pm
@tmisenti, that is strange, I am at a loss there, perhaps another mod is interfering... If you are not using any other mods except TSLRCM and mine then that really should not be happening.
He Who Laughs  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 10:18pm

The Lexiconical 5 May, 2019 @ 3:05pm
I've tried to get the mod to work manually following your instructions but I can't it to work. I noticed some of the downloaded tracks from "steamapps\workshop\content\208580\1682417351" are .mp3's and not .wav like in original StreamMusic folder. Could this be the problem?
tmisenti 5 May, 2019 @ 2:17pm
I got the in-game tracks to work by following your guide and moving the music in your streammusic content folder to the games streamMusic folder but for some reason the main menu is completely silent. No music at all. I also followed your guide and copied the two tracks into 208580/485537937/streammusic replacing the two tracks that were originally there.
He Who Laughs  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 2:04pm
Yes.
Adi von Slav 3 May, 2019 @ 11:06am
Is it supposed to change the main menu theme?
He Who Laughs  [author] 14 Apr, 2019 @ 3:46am
@Dylan, Thank you, it was a pleasure to read through your comment!

Yeah I spent a lot of time going through the John Williams score of the original trilogy, finding the right parts to blend/splice together for each scenario of the game, it took a lot of time, a lot of repeat listening, a lot of testing, but thankfully this is classic John Williams we are talking about, and it ended up being more therapeutic than anything else.

I hope you continue to enjoy it, and again thank you for the great feedback!
Warrior Like You 13 Apr, 2019 @ 10:06pm
Hey I just wanted to comment to thank you for doing this - I really love it.

I do enjoy the soundtrack in the game, but I've played it so many times it really helps to have the wonderful original trilogy soundtrack attached to it. It makes it fresh, and, of course, it's better.

I was curious to see how you would achieve this, because a movie soundtrack is so much different from a video game track. There's not 20 minutes of atmospheric exploration music in Empire Strikes Back, for example. A John Williams track has to be briefer and cover more scene transitions than you do in a video game.

But right away I noticed (or think I noticed) that one of the things you did is slow down the pace.

You made a lot of smart decisions with how you laid this out and it's really enjoyable, and I look forward to playing more of the game with this mod so I can see what you did.
He Who Laughs  [author] 10 Apr, 2019 @ 8:52am
@adan, yeah you have to copy the tracks from "208580\1682417351\StreamMusic\Restored Content Mod Steam Workshop Patch" folder to "485537937\steammusic", if you do not have a folder named "485537937" then you must have either not have the workshop version of TSLRCM, or it hasn't downloaded properly when subscribed to it, if that is the case you should try resubscribe to that mod and then see if it appears.

That is what I have gotten too, but the 485537937\streammusic that you said to look for isnt there.
He Who Laughs  [author] 9 Apr, 2019 @ 9:39pm
@adanborn99, are you sure you are looking in the correct folder location, it should look something like this "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\208580"
Flowing Dragon 9 Apr, 2019 @ 3:34pm
I also have not been able to find any sort of folder with these two tracks you speak of and Im unsure as to what is wrong, any ideas?
Flowing Dragon 9 Apr, 2019 @ 3:28pm
I do not have a 485537937 folder inside 208580 and im using steam version and restored content
He Who Laughs  [author] 8 Apr, 2019 @ 12:02pm
@Grand, Please read the description, I assure you it does work if you follow what is stated above.

@Ridley A dynamic edit is tailoring/editing the soundtrack to suit the scenarios of the game.
He Who Laughs  [author] 28 Mar, 2019 @ 3:47pm
@Ridley, Yes.
Ridley12, Knight of God 28 Mar, 2019 @ 3:29pm
What does "a dynamic edit" mean? A modification to the original soundtrack from the OT, right?
He Who Laughs  [author] 27 Mar, 2019 @ 8:44pm
@Ridley12, "A complete soundtrack overhaul for KOTOR II that adds a dynamic edit of the Original Trilogy score by John Williams, replacing all tracks, from exploration, to combat, delivering a more authentic Star Wars experience to the game."
Ridley12, Knight of God 27 Mar, 2019 @ 5:01pm
Wait, is this supposed to be music from the Original Trilogy, or just styled after it?
Ridley12, Knight of God 25 Mar, 2019 @ 7:18pm
This feels soo weird, listening to music from the Original Trilogy in this game!
He Who Laughs  [author] 22 Mar, 2019 @ 9:28am
@OhDave, hmmm it should be working as is. Try this step, if it doesn't work then I am not sure what the problem is;

"Go to your "Knights of the Old Republic II" game folder, then MAKE A BACKUP OF THE "StreamMusic" folder, either rename it to "StreamMusicOLD" or move it to another location (don't copy it, but cut it to another location). Once that is done copy over the "StreamMusic" folder from this location in your steam installation location "steamapps\workshop\content\208580\1682417351" to your "Knights of the Old Republic II" game folder, run the game and you should be good to go."
OhDave 21 Mar, 2019 @ 6:40pm
Steam version with TSL and M4 addons
He Who Laughs  [author] 21 Mar, 2019 @ 4:12pm
@OhDave, Can you provide some info, for example are you using the basic steam version, or the legacy version?
OhDave 21 Mar, 2019 @ 1:43pm
This doesn't work for me and i don't know why, i followed your steps, but it's still not working :(
He Who Laughs  [author] 19 Mar, 2019 @ 5:54pm
@jokinges, it is located at this location within the streammusic folder, you should see it: steamapps\workshop\content\208580\1682417351
Jokinges 19 Mar, 2019 @ 5:18pm
Would you be willing to make a video showing how to get this to work with TRCM? I can't seem to find my Restored Content Mod Steam Workshop Patch" folder.
