Best sound for mp5.

Nope, couldn't find it there myself. That's going to bother me forever now, hate it when stuff gets updated and there's no alternate or old version out there.

Is it now? That's a shame. Maybe there's an older version somewhere on gamemaps.com or so

His original mod shows that it has the stock folded though

It's the concept art MP5 mod by Alex_D, though he updated the animation

Where'd you get that cool MP5 model? :D

I understand how to use GCFScape but not audioeditors. Much thanks for already converting sound files:steamthumbsup:

It's mainly just here as a custom sound to show the off the patchy-majig, outside of this mod it's pretty useless unless you're making your own mp5 firing sound. That or the final warning riiight at the end of the description

It just occurred to me...
Do I need to keep subscribed to this after doing step 2b for it to work or am I good to unsub from this?
Shad3rEVO 19 May, 2024 @ 9:01pm
ok thanks

@Shad3rEVO, Steam Notifs have failed me
About the whole step in detail, it is an alternative step if you don't want to do 2a:
Look for the workshop folder in addons(Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/addons/workshop). All files are named Workshop ID's ( 1684220951 ). Look by name or workshop thumbnail.

Inside the vpk (Install GFSCape if you haven't already):

1. originalmp5sounds - original sounds in a standard quality format (22050hz -> 44100hz).
Use if you rebuilt your sound cache for any reason prior. Skip if you haven't before.

Drag Mp5-1.wav into Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound/weapons/mp5navy/gunfire
Drag Mp5-1_incendiary.wav into Left 4 Dead 2/ update /sound/weapons/mp5navy/gunfire

2. soundcache_in_left4dead2 - inside is a sound.cache file, drag and drop into Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2/sound/to replace the existing one (backup recommended).

3. soundcache_in_update - same as 2. but at Left 4 Dead 2/ update /sound/ instead.

Can you add more details to step 2b?
I'm a little confused on how to go forward with it.

In the description, which I should probably reformat a little bit for easier reading

Where the god dawn of how to install this mod?
That_1_Guy  [author] 17 Oct, 2023 @ 1:23pm
Definitely

Good suggestion, however after doing that it still sounds glitched. I found that deleting the audio cache file itself and then running the snd_rebuildaudiocache command is a surefire way to force it to work in the end. Perhaps doing both in conjunction did it for me.
That_1_Guy  [author] 4 Oct, 2023 @ 12:10pm
Have you tried doing it under Left 4 Dead 2/update instead of Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2 ?
finnigand 4 Oct, 2023 @ 9:14am
I can verify that trying this trick with the incendiary round sound does not seem to work properly. Has a strange slowed down effect. Anyway, not really much to add to the topic but there's that.

Yeah I experienced some static glitches when I didn't do the fix before using your addon, so I guess that will likely be the problem. Anyway, thanks, and have a good day man. Looking forward to more sound effects. Would be glad if you made a better sound for the AWP though. I haven't been able to find a good sound for that and if your sound for the MP5 is any indication, I think you'd do a better job at it haha
That_1_Guy  [author] 17 Aug, 2022 @ 9:08am
You will have to convert the sounds it has to the new frequency cap or have the new sounds load over the model using the old frequency cap or else you may face the gun sounding a little weird, low pitched, or some static glitches (results vary from these three I believe)
17 Aug, 2022 @ 1:15am
Alright man, don't worry, you already have with this addon, I just needed to do the fix. Cool sound btw, been looking everywhere for some MP5 sounds but none of them comes close to being this good. Btw, one question though, what if I want to install custom MP5 models that uses the default frequency cap?
That_1_Guy  [author] 16 Aug, 2022 @ 10:20pm
Any time, glad to have contributed nothing!
16 Aug, 2022 @ 5:27pm
I got that part covered forever ago but thanks anyway
That_1_Guy  [author] 16 Aug, 2022 @ 9:58am
Have you converted the original mp5 incendiary variation as well?
14 Aug, 2022 @ 4:37pm
The incendiary ammo sounds weird, anyway to fix that?
grack 17 Oct, 2021 @ 7:39am
I know im a little late to the party but this shit was easy af. good explanation on how to do it!
finnigand 10 Jun, 2021 @ 12:47am
Awesome stuff, wish more people knew to do this.
Fellex 23 Apr, 2020 @ 8:58pm
