First off, I love this mod, It's in all my games!

Second, a question/request: Would it be possible to update it with the ability to paint the cells as the mod linked below does for the vanilla ones?

@Hark01 Yeah that's OK, thank you for asking first!

Hey man, just wondering if I can re-upload your mod I just want to change the output.
Sofa King 21 Oct, 2024 @ 10:17pm
what is DSC?

Great looking mod! After some brief testing, I noticed the side that *actually* collects light on the large grid offset main 1x1 panel is flipped from what the model would imply. This may also affect other offset panels as I have not tested the others yet.
Kham  [author] 27 May, 2024 @ 7:48am
@Liliathe Yeah that's totally fine with me, thank you for asking first!
Liliathe 26 May, 2024 @ 6:47am
Hello , I used your mod (models and textures) with "high tier solar panels" mod and combined both of them. So there are normal solar panels (your mod) , Nanocrystal,dual-junction,multi-junction solar panels (values on power generation and replacement for solar cells taken from high tier solar panels ) that have models and texttures of your mod.
I was thinking if I could upload it with information that models ,textures to you and OncaLupe and to High tier solar panels autor for values and item.

Please add a 5x5 panel - and it will be perfect
GawdStone 27 Sep, 2022 @ 11:40am
Im just curious could this cause Sim speed drops on servers? Me and my brother put up some of the bigger panels like 20 or so and like another 20 of the smaller ones. Since then have noticed sim speeds drop to 0.20 then back to 1.02 sim speed every 5 to 10 seconds. Granted we have been doing alot of mining to clear out area for our base underground. What I do to fix is restart the server then server is fine for about an hour or so then it happens again. So I have no real clue what is causing this.
debbieandcory 5 Sep, 2022 @ 2:28pm
can there be a model that can be powered from a light source built by players? that was seemingly useful as power fuses.
Siv 4 Sep, 2022 @ 10:20pm
Of course, Kham. I respect the hard work and love our community puts into our mods. Thank you for your permission.
Kham  [author] 4 Sep, 2022 @ 7:40pm
@Siv Yeah that's fine so long as it's unlisted. Thanks for asking!
Siv 4 Sep, 2022 @ 5:58pm
Hey @Kham, may I edit some specs and costs to balance this for my small private server (4 people) and do an unlisted reupload? Thank you for considering my request.
debbieandcory 10 Apr, 2022 @ 4:32am
what happen to cheap 1 by 1 solar?
Fairfield 7 Apr, 2022 @ 1:18am
@DoctorJ It may very well be the planet you're on. Some planets (Usually modded ones) don't allow solar panel usage.
Kham  [author] 5 Feb, 2022 @ 9:41am
@DoctorJ I've tested them in my existing test world and in a newly created world and they appear to be working on my end. Since it's also happening to vanilla panels for you I'd say it's either a game bug or another mod causing a problem. I have seen a few reports of solar panel issues in the game since Warfare 2 update, hopefully they can fix those quickly and I'll keep watching to see if they change anything.
DoctorJ 4 Feb, 2022 @ 8:27pm
Well, vanilla solar panels are not working either.
DoctorJ 4 Feb, 2022 @ 8:22pm
Perhaps a problem after Warfare 2 update, not getting any power output despite in full sun.
Dagonius 16 Jun, 2021 @ 11:50am
I love this mod! Great work!
Fat7i Bonané 28 Apr, 2021 @ 3:17pm
Great job on this one, I use it a lot :)
[82AD] Incoming !!! 27 Apr, 2021 @ 10:16pm
that was fast :) nice update thks
Kham  [author] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 3:55pm
Pushed out the update, full notes are in the Change Notes
Kham  [author] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 10:10am
@Incoming !!! When I first released the mod the solar cell counts were matched to the vanilla panels. When Keen reduced the cost of solar panels I forgot to check the build costs of this mod so I'll go through and adjust them for the update with the new offset and centred variants. Though since small grid vanilla panels only use 8 in total for a 10x5 panel the modded variants will always be slightly less cost effective on small grid but the bonus is being able to shape them to fit in builds better.
Kham  [author] 27 Apr, 2021 @ 10:10am
@Captain_Uszziah I actually have offset panels which I made last year and never got around to uploading along with double sided centred versions. I'll update the mod shortly.
As for sloped versions, SultonMRP is correct about how the game handles their 'active' face. It has to be defined as a side in the CubeBlock file and back when the mod first released I tried some sloped panel ideas but even in full sunlight they often produced no power because the game thought the sun was facing the side of the block. I might try them again at some point to see if Keen have made any improvements on that.
[82AD] Incoming !!! 27 Apr, 2021 @ 8:14am
Cost twice the power cells per Kw produced, compared to current vanilla. also they only have one "active" face so they should cost less.
SultonMRP 18 Apr, 2021 @ 8:56am
this issue with slop ones is the game judges solar panel's direction based on the "front" of the block, even though the solar panel is at 45 degrees, it will would be based on 90 degrees angles
VS-lockon 9 Mar, 2021 @ 7:55am
also wish there was slope ones
VS-lockon 5 May, 2020 @ 8:19am
wish there was a off set
Titan Nya 28 Sep, 2019 @ 12:50pm
Then you are using a mod for a long time and you check if it was updated and found the new mod that is basically the updated version :D
Kham  [author] 6 Jun, 2019 @ 5:21pm
@Ace I've just tested them and I can't reproduce the problem you're mentioning. Do you get the same results in a world with no other mods active? Are in in SP/MP/DS?
Ace 6 Jun, 2019 @ 5:05pm
Something has gone terribly wrong with this mod and none of them are outputting power as of this last update. When attached to a ship, the console displays 0 output, but the max input varies.

Meanwhile, the ship's power supply flickers insanely from 100% to what I suspect the power is supposed to be at.
Kham  [author] 18 May, 2019 @ 6:37am
@Septimus VII Afraid not, it just means that I balanced them to the new vanilla values as they had been increased since the original mod was released.

@Anonymous really sorry man, I somehow missed your message. I use Isy's solar alignment myself and have used these panels on them without any issues so I'm not sure why you would be having problems with them.
I could make them double sided though I'm not overly sure how it would look. Might add a variant of them or something as double sided. Will give it some thought.
Septimus 18 May, 2019 @ 1:26am
Hello there !
Nicely done, this should be vanilla.

Also: "Power output of all panels have been adjusted to match a block to block ratio of the current vanilla panel outputs."
Just to be sure, does this mean that if I have a mod that alter the power output of the vanilla solar panels, yours will be altered accordingly ?

Have a nice day.
Annonymous 6 May, 2019 @ 9:48pm
I deleted the prior comments, as the issue doesn't seem to be the panels - I've not found WHAT the problem was, but with a server wipe/restart, everything is working fine.

*** NOTE ***

One issue I've found is due to the fact that the panels are 1-sided. Lovely, if you're slapping them on a ship.... but it freaks out most all Solar Tracking scripts when using Rotors - at least, all of the ones I've tried. (I prefer Isy's)
Is there an easy way to make them 2-sided, like the vanilla panels? Would also give a little more flexibility when placing
Kham  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 3:25pm
I've pushed an update just now to address this.
All small grid versions have had their PCU values vastly reduced to tie in more on a block to block ratio with their vanilla counterparts.
Large grid 3x3 has had it's PCU reduced slightly from 60 to 55.
Kham  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 2:49pm
The large grid 3x3 isn't 1/3 the size, it's a different shape but actually 1 cube larger overall. Vanilla is 2x4 so 8 blocks and 3x3 is 9 blocks. I may normalise it down though to the same as vanilla panels.
Thane Greyhaven 5 May, 2019 @ 2:38pm
That'd be great, but even a 3x3 large grid having a higher PCU than the stock panel is a bit much. As it's 1/3 the size, it should have 1/3 the PCU.
Kham  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 2:24pm
Oh woops, yeah I forgot I was meant to go back and adjust the PCU for the small grid versions. I'd adjusted the large grid versions to roughly equivalent on a block per block ratio to the vanilla version and then just copied those values to the small grid versions whilst testing but totally forgot to set them correctly before upload. I'll release an update either tonight or tomorrow to fix that.
Thane Greyhaven 5 May, 2019 @ 1:51pm
I think the PCU of these need to be modified. The smallest parts have a PCU of 7! and a 3x3 small grid has a PCU of 60! The stock Large Grid Solar Panel only has a PCU of 55.
Kham  [author] 4 May, 2019 @ 12:58pm
@Anonymous there is currently a game bug which causes problems when using mods on a DS which were updated since 1.188 release. If you look at my post just before yours replying to @Foxilein you'll see links to the support site threads on this issue. Sadly, there's nothing I can do about it until Keen fixes that. At least you were able to get it to download and the server to start, most people can't even get their servers to start using it right now. There are some workarounds posted in the threads but depending on your hosts you may or may not have access to the files needing edited.
Kham  [author] 4 May, 2019 @ 12:46pm
@Anonymous I just ran a test on my local mod test world and don't seem to be having any issues with grinding/welding/interacting with the blocks. Can you provide more information about what you mean? Not really sure what you mean by making items 'phase out'.
Also, have you tried the mod in a world with no other mods running in case it's something caused by another mod?
Kham  [author] 1 May, 2019 @ 1:40pm
@Foxilein I've just been made aware of an issue affecting all mods updated after 1.188 where they are causing DS to crash on download. There's a thread on the Keen forums
https://forum.keenswh.com/threads/new-mod-causing-dedicated-server-to-error.7403069/
and a report on their support site
https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general/topic/dedicated-server-exception-while-loading-world

If it's the same error then I'm afraid we just have to wait for Keen to fix it.
Kham  [author] 1 May, 2019 @ 8:55am
@Foxilein It's possible you have a corrupted download. Try deleting the mod files on the server and let it re-download them. Steam has a habit of messing up downloads on occasion. If the crash persists, it'd be handy for me if you could send the server log file to see what is causing the crash.
Foxilein 1 May, 2019 @ 5:48am
This mod sadly prevents a dedicated server from starting :(
Dragon Crisis Core 28 Apr, 2019 @ 1:45pm
Kham you could make sloped versions like how they make sloped LCD. The space is filled with a block beneath the panel to make it line up properly. Basicly it would be a slope block with a solar pannel on its slope.
Kham  [author] 27 Apr, 2019 @ 11:05am
Glad you guys are enjoying the update. :)

@anime212001 I didn't have any plans of adding sloped versions, but I can take a look at it. The one problem will be with alignment, since these sit in the bottom row of a block height any sloped versions next to them would occupy the block beneath them so they wouldn't line up along the top edge, if that makes sense.
Railgunner2160 26 Apr, 2019 @ 11:35pm
I'd like to thank you for these!! They made converting my mobile base to a battery/solar setup far easier with little to no wasted space!
ANICORP 26 Apr, 2019 @ 4:35am
Any plans for doing a 1x2 slope?
Gromit 25 Apr, 2019 @ 1:39am
Thanks a lot Kham for this update. Good to see you added the PCU too
Mistlynx 24 Apr, 2019 @ 12:00am
very nice, going to check this out later
